Bought this yesterday afternoon due to your review. Arrived this afternoon. Easy to assemble as you said. We did a quick test and found it very easy to use on different thicknesses of our carpets. Very quiet compared to the Bissel lift off I have just thrown in the bin. Bought direct from Shark and they register the 5 year warranty for you. I will say the cable is rather short compared to the Bissel I threw away. I will say its worth the high price. 5 out of 5 so far.

I would love one of these ,I accidentally washed my Dyson DC42 motorised head last week got a bit carried away suffice to say it doesn't work anymore oops. Been very impressed with the shark vacuums . Love your new channel Roger 👍

I think it’s great that the UK puts the decibels and emissions info on their vacuum cleaners. A C rating though for dust pickup? Wouldn’t Shark want to shoot for an A or B?

Once you use a lift away vacuum regularly it's hard to use a vacuum without it. That's why when my first lift away vacuum died, a Bissel, I bought a Shark & never looked at a Dyson. Love my NV651Q. It's built like a tank & when I'm cleaning I'm always bumping into things.

Been enjoying your thorough video reviews, haven't seen many if any others channels like it so thank you for that! I know a lot of people like Shark vacuums but to me they look so clumsy with the chunky box at the front, i also don't like how in upright mode that the air has to be pulled such a distance through the hose, feel like this really decreases airflow, it's the same for my friends 'Hoover'. Just shows to me anyway the thought that has gone into Dyson design. Thanks again.

Hi Roger. Im a new subscriber to your channel. I am someone who can't buy anything without watching a million videos and reading reviews on all different websites so when I came across your videos I was really happy. Don't feel the need to watch other ones because you know what your talking about and do such thorough reviews. Ive been using a DC25 for years and its completely done in and I've needed a new one for so long. My mum has Gtech and my sister got the newer stick GTech but I feel I need more power and running time than a cordless offers as I have a dog, a new baby and a hubby who is a plasterer and brings in lots of dust with him on his clothes. I've liked the shark brand since I tried one on holiday in America a few years back in the place we were staying and loved it. I like the look of this one and also the corded stick. Would you recommend this as being much better than the stick? Also on the UK website the newest version seems to be ax910uk which I thought was the one you were reviewing on first glance. Do you have any idea when this one will be coming out? Thanks

This model is certainly better than the stick version as it has a bigger bin and more suction. I don't know why this Shark is not showing up on their website, but if you type AX950 into the search box it will come up. I would wait a while if you want this one as I'm sure it will be on offer at some point.

I just got the Shark for a thick carpet, and it surprising amount of dust it captures with each pass. It's clear to me that thick carpets collect dust for decades, LOL. Greetings from Maine, USA.

I just bought a Sebo Felix for like 2-3 times the price of this Shark in the US. Wondering if that was the right decision. Haven't even used it yet!

The Felix is a very good cleaner and will probably last a lot longer than a Shark, but I do like the features of this cleaner, especially the powered lift away.

@@ibaisaic So the Felix I had purchased arrived damaged so I will return it. I ended up going with three different machines to share the cleaning work at my home. A Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro, a Bissell Zing canister and a Panasonic UG 471 upright, all for a bit cheaper than the Felix on its own. Sebo and Miele seem prohibitively expensive in the US compared to Europe. Anyway, will see how it goes!

I’ve had a couple sharks before, they’re ok, but their bins are deceiving. While the bin is on the machine, most look like a pretty decent size from the front, until the bin is taken off until you notice the back in curved inward.

It depends on your preference as the performance of the two types are much the same. The cylinder takes up more storage space than the upright.

ibaisaic I went for the cylinder but because Amazon accidentally listed that model as £199 in the Black Friday a sale as well as their cheaper cylinder models. It should have been £329 and I was just in the right place at the right time. By the time I had told my friend about it the price had been changed back again. So far I am very happy with it but only used it once! It’s much better than my upright shark (although that one is 6 years old now and broken!)

Thanks, Mr. R. +1 for quiet. Is it Meile quiet? The lift away part makes it look a little clumsy. Is it top heavy or awkward? I have zero experience with Shark. Vacuum aficionados don't always have nice things to say about them, but several friends who are 'normal' vacuum users have them and sing their praises. I'll have to try one out.

It is the heaviest Shark upright. If that’s an issue, look at the smaller powered lift away models.

The new Shark NZ850UK claims to have more suction power than any other upright brand in the UK, so that will have the most suction. Personally if you have no carpets, I would go for a cylinder cleaner, but if you want a Shark you need one with Duo Clean. I will be featuring a week of Shark vacuums soon including some brand new models that you may be interested in.

Is there an adjustable suction release valve on the handle, as there was on the older models? I didnt notice the slider lever on the front of the handle for it, and it does make the machine easier to push on certain carpets having the ability to reduce the suction, also its useful when the crevice tool or dusting brush is attached to be able to vary the suction power. Other than this, it looks very similar to the Apex model that has been available in the USA for a while now. One difference seems to be they altered the small wheels on the front of the powerhead, to remove the felt covering that the Apex has (or had), as these wheels seemed to be not very durable and fell apart, as shown in Just Vlad's videos about his Shark Apex.

It has two brush speeds and three suction levels. There is a vent on the handle that opens and closes according to the surface selected. On hard floors the suction is at the maximum setting ie with the valve fully closed and the brush rolls are at reduced speed. On short pile carpets the brush is at full speed with the suction at a medium level and for rugs and deep pile the suction is at the lowest level. You can go from different surfaces without having to bend down and adjust the settings which I found very useful.

The only issue I'd find with that is on Lino which is not stuck down, where I would need the slow brushroll action but coupled with the minimum suction level, so as not to suck the lino up to the nozzle and cut off airflow, so for this purpose, i presume you would need to have it set to "rugs and deep pile carpets", and have the brushroll rotating faster than it should for hard floor pickup. I think the suction slider would have been a better bet, with an independent control for brushroll speed. The addition of a light on the handle is a good one though, and the larger capacity with wider brush head makes it better than the "speed" versions which had small dustcups and narrow cleaning path.
