First sharpening of the PM2 in s45vn. I will do another video when I get a better feel for how it cuts and can compare it with other steels

Found your channel last night after you made a Facebook post about this knife. I’ve been binge watching since.

First of all, don't ever apologize for focusing on something. And its "J" paper.

Thanks for the video Gunny (y) Would you recommend getting both 2/3 micron Venev stones in 100% and 25%? It is interesting to me that you used both in this sharpening.

You will be fine just getting the 100%. They do a nice job polishing and leave more bite. I have both because I was sent both to test. The 25% do polish a little better, but not bu enough that I can suggest spending the extra money. I wouldn’t if I didn’t already have them both.

Michal Galovič I use both sometimes when I do mirrors just because I get a little extra polish out of the 25%. I could get that from strops if I wanted to. Just know that if you buy the Venev flatten and lap them. You will get better performance if you do.

Why better than s35vn? Thanks

It has improved edge retention and corrosion resistance over s35vn. Well supposedly according to tests and literature. I personally have not tested them side by side yet though.

Gunny is the best sharpener on Facebook or Instagram or KZbin. If you wanna fight me I’ll drive a car through your house.

lol you need to actually show us you sharpening that to a mirror freehand. just telling us that's what you did with those edge pro / tsprof stones doesn't cut it in this day and age I reserve belief until you actually post an uncut video of you doing this to a factory grind That may sound harsh but hey you put it out there

I agree. As I said in the video I wasn’t planning on doing a video and wished I would’ve gotten it all on camera. You missed the point of the video though. It was intended to be about how s45vn felt and sharpened. Not about my sharpening skills or lack there of. So this wasn’t a “look what I can do “ video. We started videoing because I was happy with how it was turning out and wanted to talk about how the steel felt on the stones. It wasn’t a “sharpening” video. However I appreciate your feedback

The Horse to Water I’m just getting started with the KZbin thing. My intent with the channel is for education not to show me sharpening. There will be plenty of that down the road for educational purposes, but never meant to “showcase” me.
