I seem to have a ton of those super tiny ants everywhere this year. Ugh!! And talk about a lack of self control, I can't even go to Walmart for groceries without a quick run through their garden section, lol! Home Depot trips, yeah, I'm coming home with a car load of plants ALWAYS! lol!! And no need to apologize for the weeds in your pot, we all have them! I sometimes don't know if it's a plant coming back from the previous year so I let them go until I realized that, nope, it's a weed!

Sorry about your ants....yuck! Great idea to mix the daisies. We've got a native daisy that seems to bloom for most of the summer. They are too thin for your use and probably too cold weather for your area. Fun video Janey!

I also have a horrible ant problem in my garden. After research, I found that sprinkling dried molasses around the garden drives them away. Farmers use it to keep the ants out. It’s also a soil amender. I’ve done it two years in a row now and it definitely works in my area. I buy dried molasses in bulk now and put it all over. I went from getting bit every time I put my hand in the soil to only seeing ants every once in awhile. You do have to do it every year though.

Don't be nervous pruning your Loropetalum shrubs, they're super easy! Jim Putnam has good advice on one of his shrub pruning videos on how and when to prune them. Basically, you just trim them up after they finish flowering. I have four and they flower in spring and fall. It's hard to mess up on these. They're so hardy too. 🌸☀️🌻

Love those daisies and the blue sky. I am kicking myself for not picking up some of the PW daisies Lowes had here earlier in the season. No one has any petunias for sale here guess cause it’s too hot to plant now. I didn’t pick up any earlier but do have petunias I grew from seed. I am going to take them out of their pots and plant along drive. I have decided to pass on Plumbago here as their blooms were so tiny compared to yours. I did get me a huge Madison Star Jasmine on half price (I asked for it) I am planting near deep end of my new pool and will espalier it out into a fan. I didn't know you could just stick those grey ant poison things directly into the soil. That is so good to know. Sometimes I wonder if the dry weather we have been having here in SE Wisconsin is sometimes a cause for the ants to come. So far it hasn't been as bad as your situation but when you come across one area its so hard to deal with. Plus this season and last season we are having record heat as well.

I live in the California desert and we have our fair share of ants, however its not too bad anymore since we started using Amdro sprinkles. I noticed they like the drier areas of the yard and not where we have chunky bark mulch or the landscaping rock where moisture gets retained. It was horrible when we first moved into our new build 10 years ago, but as the years have gone by they have dwindled.

Ugh, ants. They are such a pain. They had bait on sale for Prime Day and I bought some on Tuesday and when I was in my kitchen yesterday I noticed I had some ants on my counter. NOOO! I hate feeling them climbing on me when I am in the garden. The bait should arrive today and I will be placing them all over my garden.
