Whatever anyone has to say about the Hangar whoever arranges their marketing is incredible. I think they’ve done a great job for the space they have. Spray should be a standard for big commercial walls 💪

This is literally my local gym that I go to twice a week, amazing place to go just because how different it always is. A good thing about the changing the walls in sections is that I if you go and there is a project you start, there is a good chance it will be there for a while before you get to try something new.

I believe that the UK is the example of what is going to happen to the climbing market across the world. Small, dirty, tough, personable, climbing gyms are on the out and out while the big time money, flash, celebrity, clean, climbing gyms, are going to take over. I mean, why wouldn't it? Just how business works as things get more popular.

I would say that the Sheffield Hangar is actually quite small and personable. Apart from the competitive price and great cafe (with beer!) the Hangar wins on cleanliness. As much as I like the Works I wish they'd push the hoover around once in a while!

Have you even been to Europe? The UK is miles behind what is actually going on in gyms across the globe. Hanger is bang average. Style over substance

@@bilaltahir9978 They're both good in their own ways. I think the works has more interesting setting, but is older, dirtier, more expensive and feels a bit cliquey. They're both good enough that I tend to choose the one that's easiest to get to.

I wish they upgraded the Liverpool Sandhills one, so many of my friends haven't come back after I convinced them to come with me because of how crowded it is. Liverpool is a city with 4 universities, an insane amount of young people - they NEED to build a new one in a central location, there's so many abandoned buildings and warehouses - their return on investment would be insane!

Being a member at the hangar in Sheffield I'll admit it's clean and great but I won't lie I get bored by it. The café area seems like a waste as the climbing area is really small, meaning regular visitors run out of problems really quickly (I go once a week and flash up to purple and get the reds in around 5 goes) I just feel like for beginners this wall is great but for experienced climbers awesome walls has a better selection and is literally around the corner and the depot is absolutely huge with much more variety in comparison. Bottom line in my opinion this wall is great for beginners and being introduced to climbing, but if you want a better variety and harder challenge I'd go to a larger center like the Depot. Also the hangar have a desperate need to find a solution for parking in Sheffield 😅.

What I'd add to this is that although the depot is much bigger, the setting (especially for lower grades), is very pretty straightforward and predictable. Some of the lower grade climbs at the hangar (like the blue one in the video) are genuinely really fun to climb for almost anyone.

@@tombutt159 yeah I'd agree with that but I'd say the first 2/3s of the "colours" at the hangar maybe top out at around V3 and if I was in that similar grade bracket in any other wall it would probably be V6. Just seems very ego boosty as the difficulty goes is all 🙂😅

@@tomlocaladventures we're truly blessed in Sheffield to have so many walls that we can debate this stuff 😅 (didn't even touch on the Foundry or the Works). I lived in Cambridge before this and the biggest gym (of 2) was maybe half the size of the Hangar. Most cities would kill for even one place like this.
