One of the best tunes EVER written and sang. Hard to believe that this tune is now over 50 years young and still resonates today as it did in the early 70s. You take me to a different time and place. I heard the song in 1974. Lebanon had plunged into a civil war. A friend of mine had waited in line for hours under the loud bombing on the streets of Beirut to get the album. He brought it and I wore the headphones to escape from the deafening sound of the bombs destroying everything. This was a masterpiece - a few years later, an album called FURTHERMORE blew us away. The prog rock and orchestration was second to none. I will never forget it.

2:21 I saw Shawn 3 times while I was in the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. His music changed my life. Finally there was music worth listening to. It opened my ears to music. Even tunes I had written off, started meaning something. Thank you SP, you are forever loved. Peace from a old Vet. ☮️

Always had a fondness for his music. Saw him a couple of time in the early 1970s. What was so amazing was the way that his voice sounded just like the studio recordings. He carried the toughest lines flawlessly. Really lovely songwriting and singing. He is underrated.

Health, Love and Clarity, my old friend, and the same to all your new and old fans. - Miles

Cette chanson me hante depuis 1972.

He is unique. My wife, close friends and I listened to him a whole lot during the early to mid-70s. We saw him in concert three times in Detroit and Ann Arbor. One time, after playing a number of his songs by himself, he was joined by a band and they rocked out for a good part of the show. Some of his fans seemed to be shocked by this. We were surprised but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Gerry Peters - when you saw him in Vancouver, would that be about 1972? I was a DJ at a club called Faces then and we played his music. Liam from A&M Records gave us all their music as it was released. They brought him to Vancouver and Liam asked if one of us could pick him up at the airport, Michael did. Unfortunately I didn’t see him as I was on music at the club that night.

We act like the industry was better back then. He wasn't that popular then. This has been and will always been in the underground, it has never been consumed in the main stream. This song never made the billboard 100, and his highest topping single was at like 93. Not for nothing though, he made a ton of money, took care of his finances, lives comfortably in South Africa doing what he loves, still tours, and has the respect and adoration of millions of fan, and accolades by the critics.

Truly unique and methodical. An artist who is quite a joy to listen to.

Shawn is one of those musicians whom most people don't know about - but if you know about him, you're an avid fan. Myself, been a fan since the '70's. Have seen him twice in concert... hopefully more in the future.
