R.I.P To A Great Actor David Soul,You Will Be Missed

Suddenly I’m a young teen again. Haven’t heard this in decades. At a time when Charlie’s Angels was the detective norm, Starsky and Hutch was much more raw. The episode Hutch tried to detox cold turkey was intense.

Yes, he hated Hollywood-it was & is all about money & short cuts . He wanted recognition for" UNSUB" but it was too ahead of its time. Michael Mann was the producer and later he developed "Miami Vice". David was brave enough to take on the role of Rick in the TV show "Casablanca" Bogart fans never gave him a chance but he was Phenominal- David left for Paris ,then London where he still resides.

David was first a singer who accidentally turned actor. He has a very empathetic nature & knows what ordinary citizens go thru. He is still an activist for Dogs , he helped with Animal voice to save some asian dogs from meatmarkets but succeeded in making these poor dogs be treated humanely before killed and eaten. He was an activist for Syrians when they were masacurred & trying to migrate to Europe. My favorite movie he did was "Key to Rebecca" but it's only avaiable on Amazon Prime . I had it on VCR but you know how that goes!

I told my friend not to bother him thinking he would be tired of being approached. My friend insists. I tell him to at least address him as David. He goes over and says "Hi Hutch" David turns round and is upset and says , "Have I got a sign on my back?" Touchy drunk.

Well, ya' know he wasn't very happy at that time of his life. His new wife suddenly turned Born Again Christian-imagine how he felt ? He had enough of the Church as a place to find solace-he never did & his dad was a famous Lutheran Minister. He loved her and the kids dearly but Hollywood screwed him too. He no longer got calls for good roles like in the '80s either so he moved to Paris & then London where he lives happily & still working He is Like Hemmingway a great lover of Adventure And Women- a good soul

I always loved David Soul's voice, even at a time when it wasn't hip to like him. This was number one in the UK and the US. The line you picked up on, 'the angel and the dreamer' always hit me really hard. Five more to try: Silver Lady Going In With My Eyes Open Playing To An Audience Of One (my favourite) Nobody But A Fool Or A Preacher Mary's Fancy The last two are rather different from the others, which are romantic ballads in the style of 'Don't Give Up On Us'. Oh, I have to add Topanga as well, love that song. Written by David as well. Do you know, just the other day I thought to myself, 'Never hear any David Soul on the reaction channels' and suddenly here you are. Please listen to some more and let's hope other people pick up on him. You know who else I never hear? Only one of the best songwriters ever, Neil Sedaka! I hope you'll take this suggestion on board with one of these five: Laughter In The Rain New York City Blues The Hungry Years That's When The Music Takes Me The Immigrant (one of the best songs ever written, I think) Thanks fo taking me back in time, great show.

Great comment...this is my very favorite song that was written or co written by Tony .Tony also wrote ( by himself) " Last night I didn't get to sleep at all" which he offered to the Carpenters.Karen liked the song but refused to sing any song with any reference to drugs...and that song referred to " sleeping pills" So Karen asked for that line to be changed.. which Tony did write any alternative line, but he didn't like that line as much

@@Eric-ms1ry As you probably know, the 5th Dimension recorded it instead. Unfortunately, it's not on the double-CD Buttercups & Rainbows. featuring 50 Macaulay-Macleod compositions, but then, neither are any of his later compositions, like Don't give up on us, Silver lady, Falling apart at the seams, Home lovin' man, You won't find another fool like me & Blame it on the pony express. My own lesser-known Tony Macaulay song is Like a sad old kinda movie by Pickettywitch.
