This is a Vietnam song. "One of the things that I vividly remember hearing one guy say is that he hardly ever slept in Vietnam--he was afraid to go to sleep. So there's the line, 'You've been running from the man who goes by the name of the Sandman'--you don't want to go to sleep because you might be killed. I thought, What a lousy way to live." America

I love America. One of my favorite bands. I think because it brings back fond memories of my youth in the 70’s. Not a care in the world as a child. Good times.

How cool was it to hook up with your friends in an American Military High School overseas and become a famous band with numerous hits? It's an American Dream come true story. Thanks for playing the AMERICA music and making us all smile. Have a good day, Shawn.

I love your pure joy of America! You haven't stopped smiling, and that keeps me smiling! Yes, the sandman is the guy that sprinkles sand over your eyes to make you sleepy! Keep up the great reactions Shawn!

That album is one of my favorites. When I was young like 5 and 6 years old. My Dad would dri e around with me and we would listen to this whole album.

I saw them in Hawaii in 1981, they were rocking. On that album they had a song that our band plays. The song is Hang over from the album Alibi.

One of their best songs. America's whole debut album is great. Multiple guitars and voices harmonizing. The two remaining living band members are still touring with some excellent backup musicians, and despite their age still sound fantastic. If you can see them in concert definitely take advantage of the opportunity.

I like just about anything by America but this is my favorite.

An interesting point, Shawn, is that this song is off their debut album. They were 19- and 20-year-olds when they recorded it. And you mentioned their brief career. On the contrary, the last I knew, the two guys on the left on the album cover are still touring as "America." And they have released more music as a duo. One great illustration of this you may wish to check out is "Chasing the Rainbow."

Some of their songs that don't seem to get a lot of recommendations, but I think are in their best include: Seasons, Saturn Nights (Hal Blaine kills it on drums), Submarine Ladies, Woman Tonight, Glad to See You, Who Loves You, and there are so many more.

I played this America album over and over again when I was a sophomore in high school. Neil Young’s Harvest was out at about the same time, and I remember being very depressed, lol! Next listen to Three Roses and Donkey Jaw.

I bought this album expressly to get THIS song, though I liked the others on it. Got it home and started to play it. This side of the album had the back side of the Beatles Rubber Soul album on it. Boy was I disappointed. Had to get another copy. Still have that weird copy.

You're quickly becoming my favorite reactor. I would like to make a request please. My favorite songs are; I'd Love to Change the World - Ten Years After. 2. Mississippi Queen, by Mountain and this hasn't been done very often. Loan me a Dime, Boz Sgaggs and Duane Allman. The stores about the song is almost as good as the song itself. Like the sing on Muscle Sholes, that says, Hippies Use the Front Door. InspiredbyDaune Allman, despite inventingan entirelynewtypeofmusic, SouthernRock, by combining blues, rock countryandjazz, and being oneof the .best guitarists in history. Master of the Slide was humble as a person could be. He used the back door and asked if Hippies were allowed? That's why the owner put up a sign that still there 55 years later. There's a lot more, if anyone wants to hear it. Like the original recording was 41 minutes, but since has been lost. I guarantee that you will love it.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKeZYXewbs2IhtEsi=yyCqN0zzSTDIA8zv This is a link to the song, Loan Me a Dime. When Daune arrived, the main recording room was already full of people and instruments. So he found a bathroom or storeroom and put on headphones and played where he thought it would sound good. He started playing and the sound engineer ran back to where Duane was playing by himself and said, "don't stop! It sounds fantastic!"'
