When the album "Ten Summoner's Tales" was released "Shape Of My Heart" was highlighted in the promotional material with the expectation it would become a hit, but it never did. Instead "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" and "Fields of Gold" were the tracks from that album that charted. Even so I've always thought this is one of Sting's best compositions. The lyrics tell an interesting story and the production is just gorgeous. I also enjoy the music video although I think it comes up short in never showing anyone playing the violin or harmonica, given that along with acoustic guitar those are the most distinctive instruments used in the song. By the way if you aren't familiar with "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" then I highly recommend you put it on your list of songs to react to. It's a great one and the music video is a classic.

this song was from Sting's album Ten Summoner's Tales which was also a masterpiece. So well mastered, it sounds incredible on any good hi-fi system

I’m amazed that Sting can write stuff like this… It’s really good no matter what your favorite genre of music is. 👍

Sting is a just a brilliant artist. Such a rich catalogue to explore as he evolved through time. Thank you for an excellent review 🙂

Here is where genius lies. Dominic Miller the guitarist was playing some chord progression inspired by Chopin's piano material which Sting heard and this is what happened: "I can't really claim it as my own really because that's that was the source and I just reorganized that idea. And then it was Sting's imagination as a songwriter to - this is a perfect example of collaboration - he was the one who said well that is a song. And I'm going, “It’s just an exercise, mate.” And cut to he walks in the garden and comes back with a lyric, and that song was written in a day. It was just done. It didn't take three months, and sometimes songs are like that, you know? " Larry Adler played the harmonica on it. And speaking of harmonicas you really should do a reaction to a couple of songs with Stevie Wonder and Sting live. One is Brand New Day and the other is Fragile.

Please consider the song” Fields of Gold”… Paul McCartney once said that he wish he would’ve written that song…

One of the most beautiful and difficult acoustic guitar riffs ever. Rick Beato interviews Dominick Miller, who discusses and demonstrates this riff that he and Sting created. It's worth a watch.

Gordon Sumner is Stings's real name. He was an English Teacher before he became a rock star with The Police. Thanks for playing the song, Brotherman. It's greatly appreciated.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written♥ Sometime you need to hear Sting and Dominic Miller's live acoustic version (the title is simply "Sting - Shape Of My Heart," it has 55 million views). Also Sting's song "Fields of Gold"...the official video, or the "Live from Lake House" in 1993 version.

Great suggestion ! I always thought "Fields of Gold" and this one are a beautiful matching pair in their stripped down style and soulful sophistication - a pair of aces !

I'm not sure if dude is reading people's requests when he names a bunch of info, or looking at Wikipedia... I think it could be better to react without all the background info. At least I like to see someone's natural first reaction, personally. But hey, it is what it is
