@Erik Lerström Comparing the Google/KZbin platform to "basic capitalism"... no wonder you don't think this is censorship.
@FungusMossGnosis
@FungusMossGnosis 4 жыл бұрын
@Erik Lerström When corporations and big tech monopolies control most of the means of expression, that's a basic system of censorship in itself. Late stage capitalism at work: nothing "basic" about it. This is not the free market and popularity deciding things, far from it. An extremely convoluted and unfair system to all but a select few. Your arrogance is depressing. This channel would be blocked or taken down if Shawn showed the whole humane process. When content is suppressed that doesn't meet approval of advertisers, that is suppression of speech. Curtailing monetization is just another layer in the injustice of the platform. The attack on free expression happens before that.

Setting it up for a few nights with bait, but not armed, would possibly overcome their caution. Once they got used to finding food in it you can then arm it and *SPLAT* - success.

What NONSENSE! How does the rat know it's not set? If it's too cautious to take the bait when it's set, it will also be too cautious when it's not set.
@AR1G3
@AR1G3 3 жыл бұрын
@@markuzick No if nothing happens over time they will start to trust the trap a bit more, and possibly get a baby rat to investigate it. If it turns out to be safe they'll go in the trap. Once you catch a rat, you need to soak the trap in bleach or boil it and repeat the whole process, and in this case replace the noose.

Just an idea for one of you designers. When I was in the Army you often find booby traps set with "secondary's". The first, maybe a tripwire, is left a little obvious. The real trap is placed to get somebody who steps around the tripwire or starts inspecting it. A trap designed to get the rat curious might be interesting.

If rats are too cautious to be caught you can put it in several nights baited but not set so they get accustomed to a free nibble, then set it. Maybe even a week? Also maybe weathering the trap for a week or two will take away the man smell from your handling it. I always used to weather my rabbit snares for up to a month before setting them, then avoided direct manual contact by setting with thin leather gloves. We’re inclined to dismiss scent as an alarm factor with pest species I think...

Butthurt? Why? Just sharing a thought. That clip in your head, where i attempt to appear superior is kinda crazy. To be precise: Its a sign for strong narcissistic traits. The mechanism is called "projection" and leads to behavior where people put their thoughts of somebody or something upon a real person, while completely ignoring the person they project on. Maybe look it up.
@SirBeauJangles
@SirBeauJangles 6 жыл бұрын
The sarcasm was deserved. You simply and bluntly contradicted, offered no actual input. Why not? You've still offered not a thing of use to anyone. Any fool can make contradictions. As you have now proved quite well. As for a) the rest of your ill informed pscho-twaddle, - grow up. We're not impressed. and b) your "butthurt" attempted jab, rather looking like you have some proclivity issues there all of your own. Leave my butt out of your own sick projections. Worth repeating - there's still no added input from you re your simple approach that you say makes preceding observations redundant. And if you think that weathering traps or snares is irrelevant to their successful use, then your critturs behave differently from those I've dealt with all my days. And those of my gamekeeping contemporaries.
@UnholyRave666
@UnholyRave666 6 жыл бұрын
Nope. You are just offended because somebody dared to tell you that there are ways which are less preperation intensive, which you interpreted as a personal insult. My lack of actual information would justify a simple question "And how?/ which methods are those?". Thats it. Would be absolutely sufficient to shut down people who have no clue/ expose those. Everything else you are babbling is just a extension of what i assumed before. -You are unreflected -Easily offended -Presumptuous And seemingly, already an "adult" person, which makes it worse. I wont waste any more time with your illness. Watch out.

I will be interested to see how you deal with the rats in the chicken coop. I have been dealing with the very same thing for several years and the rats are winning. I have tried multiple different traps, anything new might catch 1 or 2 then they ignore it. I have tried box traps, victor style slam traps, cage traps, tilong style traps and the same thing has happened every time. I have ended up turning to poisoned baits in a bait station all crumbled so they eat it there and are not able to take it away and leave somewhere the chickens can get at it. Even that has not been very successful.

I literally had zero interest in mice, traps or anything like that until I saw your videos. As a research scientist I'm planing on design and build a high-tech mouse trap as hobby project. I already have an idea in my mind and it's an indoor mouse trap capable of capturing multiple mice alive, or dead with electric shock (optional), through a one-way double entry hatch with motion detector and connecting to wifi to send capture notifications and camera output. For the bait I propose to have a low-heating container and use mouse-attractive aromatic liquids to spread the smell more efficiently. Sadly we don't have any mice where I live though (Canada) so I'll probably send it to you so you can test it.

A quick input. How about trying the plank or rolling log trap on a Brute garbage pail? The width of the opening would be too far for a rat to reach the peanut butter. The depth would be too deep for a rat to jump out. Just would need to make a long walkway up to the rim.

Whilst its a lovely efficient design, technically at least it is a "snare"so it might be a legal minefield. Excellent work on the video,and the trap itself. Finished design as shown needs more thought. If a cat or dog SEVERS a paw,for example. Off to look at your other videos,keep up the good effort. Looking forward to the rest of your works.

Seems kind of elaborate for a rat trap. I built a simpler one that uses a PVC tube as a see-saw. When the open end goes up, the door shuts and a stop keeps the door from coming back open. It was intended for squirrels but catches more rats. Also, I've got to "dispose" of the live rats myself.

Try pre-baiting a new trap for about a week until the nervous rats get a false sense of security. Once they're happily feeding from inside the safe trap, then you can arm it with a high chance of a successful catch. Changing the traps too often won't allow the rats to feel comfortable and therefore less chance of catching them.

Hi dude, I was wondering... One good thing with traps with water is that you dont have to reset it, while you have to if you have something with a spring or a lever. What if you use a stream or rain or winds or the sun (not only solar panels) to charge the trap back? Can you do something like a big cage that with a windmill carge the trap back? I love your videos, I'm so fascinated by those techniques
