The only reason Nigel has to tell people not to bully Kay is to avoid a KZbin ban, because losers on the internet like to pretend that a large content creator responding to a video equates to "sending their followers after them". Hey y’all, rice tip: if your rice is really bubbly while you’re cooking it, it’s not clean enough. You really need the water to run clear when you’re cleaning your rice.
@yukikofujiwara21444 ай бұрын
@@VertigoGettingClose It really depends on what your cooking rice for. In asian rice dishes, the rice is almost always thoroughly washed before cooking, therefore it is _correct_ to wash the rice; the extra layer of starch is almost useless for Asian cooking. It makes it very difficult to use the rice as an ingredient due to the stickiness, and it's harder for the cooked rice to absorb any new flavors through the excess starch. For something like paella, risotto, or sticky rice, you would absolutely not wash away all the starch, as the rice starch is a key ingredient.

How to cook rice in a pan: -Boil the rice. -When the water runs out, turn off the stove. -Now start steaming the rice for 15-20 minutes. Depending on the rice you're using, the steaming duration might be shorter or longer. Do check your rice-if it's soft, then it's well-cooked, done. In Indonesia, we have this big pan that also serves as a steamer called "dandang," we use it to steam the rice (and many stuff like potatoes or bananas (steamed banana tastes good, btw)). But you can use any steamer appliances that you have. If you only boil the rice, well... it's still half-cooked, still hard here and there, so you need to steam it to make it soft. Hope this helps! Helping the poor rice, I mean (sobs) poor rice.....

@melindacadarette3447 Жыл бұрын
@@hahaimasianThe most important thing is that the rice can't be mushy. You're making fried rice not rice pudding or congee. You need to make sure all water has been evaporated before allowing the rice to cool. Once the rice is cool, then you can add it to the pan without worrying about burning it.

Honestly, as a Native American, who's best friend was a 3rd gen Mexican American, whos grandmother taught me to cook her dishes, with my grandfather teaching me how to cook German, Irish, Italian, Japanese, and French dishes (he was an Army Man, and learned to cook from locals, none of that fancy crap, real home cooking) If you want to break me, just make me watch anyone who doesnt know how to cook, make something simple, and still screw it up. Or even worse, show me a professional, or talented cook, like say, Babish, and have them make a mistake that is very obvious, and it just...chisels away at me. Physical torture wont work.
