Rita was cocky thinking Alma wouldn’t do anything drastic to her after all, and Alma got careless with the killing / covering up. Like all she had to do was move the body and ditch the boa. With her dress being red I doubt anyone would notice blood spills as long as they were minor and didn’t look closely
