Important Note: Blue Priests are NOT nobles. They have noble blood and lineage, but in this world you don't become a noble just because "mommy and daddy are nobles". You must get ordained as a noble personally by the King at a place called the Royal Academy of Yurgenschmidt (that's the name of the country in which Myne is living, and the state she belongs to is called Ehrenfest). All of this has been explained but it is easily missed by people.
@Norbert_Sattler13 күн бұрын
To clarify: It is still possible for a blue priest to be a true noble, but only if they graduated from the Royal Academy, before joining (or being made to join) the chuch. If such an exceptionally rare case were to happen, that particular priest would retain their legal position as a noble, albeit they would lose a lot of their soft, political power. Meanwhile the regular blue priests, who never attended the Royal Academy are the other way around, technically just regular commoners, but thanks to their family connections, treated as a kind of pseudo-noble. This legal distinction is also why Main is even alive anymore. She - a commoner - hurt the high priest. Had evil Santa been a true noble, that would have been a captial offense, but thanks to him legally being a commoner, it was one commoner hurting another in a non-lethal way, with isn't a crime, or not much of one. Had she just been some random commoner without use to the nobility or church, the high priest's connections would still have been sufficient to have her executed anyway, but because she has such incredible value to the church and the duchy as a whole, his soft political power was insufficient to have her killed.

This is definitely a spoiler. Even in the novel this was not known yet.

Regarding the Star Binding Ceremony (spoilers) . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Star Binding Ceremony is when adults get married, but rather than marriages being a personal event, marriages have a scheduled day each year -- for those that live near the capital, it's in summer, while those that live out in the country-side, it's in autumn. The commoner ceremony takes place during the daytime while nobles are married at night -- the ceremony is supposed to take place under the night sky according to old religious texts but there's some interesting work arounds I won't get into now. During the ceremony, couples sign their names on a contract -- the reason for this is because the current subordinate goddess that oversees unions serves under the Goddess of Light (she oversees all magical contracts made in this world, so when Myne has been agreeing to all these magic contracts, she's essentially pledging an oath to the Goddess of Light to uphold it). At the conclusion of the commoner ceremony, it would be the duty of the new husbands to shield their bride from the taus being thrown by jealous individuals that weren't lucky to secure a spouse all the way from the temple to their new home. Children end up having their own little fun by having a water balloon fight with taus -- as Myne puts it, tuas are basically nature's water balloon as they're almost entirely water inside.

Yup England is a civilized country with no throwing of fruit...that's why they instead chase a wheel of cheese down a hill.

The ending was Benno telling Myne NOT to tell anyone about the Taue fruit becoming a tromba seed via her mana. However, in a Light Novel book I just read, in Part 5, it was mentioned again. She noted that if nobles found out, they would eradicate the Taue fruit to stop trombas from ever growing again, and as young trombas are a valuable source of paper, she does not want that. Edit) Oh yeah. Taue fruit turning into Tromba is also not a problem because commoners don't have the mana needed to transform them and destroy the excess during the Star Festival by throwing them at pairs of men and women who are dating or just got married. (Thanks @alsinakiria)
@alsinakiria13 күн бұрын
She's also worried that the Nobles killing Tau fruits every year would eliminate the festival entirely. If the trees ever came back after the nobles got lazy thinking they eliminated them all there would be way more Trombe in the woods. Without the fesrival the situation would quickly get out of control. The commoners use all the fruit for the festival and they unknowingly drain their own mana with it. You need as much mana as an adult noble to activate the fruit so a commoner who made it long enough to participate wouldn't be at risk. It's a perfect systems that she really doesn't want to mess with. Though it would be nice if they Nobles came to underwear that their lives are significantly easier because commoners active hunt down Trombe beforehand they because a problem close to the city.

If you think it sounds like Main was playing pokemon, when she threw the fruit, you are correct. That was indeed her thought process for saying those words. ^^

It's important to note that even though the series is framed as the head priest looking through Main's memories, he absolutely does not know about the whole Tau fruit to Trombe transformation. In the book, the memories he looks through are different (We get to see it later). If he knew about the tau fruit, he would get very upset.

That playstation with no tv just made me recall an old memory. When I was a kid I got a ps1 for my birthday with FF7 me and my sister were so hyped only to find out we didn't have a memory card. So we had to play the opening part of it like 4-5 times. We didn't realize it needed one cause the SNES had the memory built into the cartridge and didn't think.

1:27 In a previous episode you said she had "invented commerce", but as commerce is any trade of goods, not necessarily money, I think your use of "capitalism" is more correct here.

Sorry to say that fruit throwing is more a water balloon Fight. But it also on the side a way for people to find and say will you be my mate. So yes it part of wedding. Plus we just seen one other way to help cut the magic build up, and a way to get the best paper.

Using capitalism here is the correct term, or, in other words, voluntary transactions between parts. Basically both parts consider that what the other is trading has more value from what they are offering (ex. for Main the children producing paper for her has more value than the money/time she spent on giving a better clothes, food, etc, for the children, is the opposite, what they are receiving from Main has more value than what they are providing). Meaning that both parties came out richer in their own perspective after the transaction.

Actually it's not captailism. She working within Merchantlism, guilds and market rights are very much a factor. Mertatricacy was right word, as apposed a class system, where you parents are a bigger factor in promotions than personal skill

Capitalism: A system where profit is based on personal ownership of goods and voluntary exchange of services, where entrepeneurs must figure out distribution, marketing and production on their own, with little to none state-based assistance. Necroconomy: A system where profit is pursued at the direct expense of human lives, with death and suffering becoming mere collateral in the pursuit of wealth.
