Good job - it looks great! The tiles are of the terrazzo type - that means that it's pretty much a bunch of rocks that are casted in a binding agent; and later is surface grinded and polished. It is recommended to be cut with a diamond blade in either a wet tile saw or with an angle grinder as the fragility between the rock and the binding agent can differ - so its a real gamle to cut with the kind of tile cutter you used. Not that I'm a pro myself - but I'm on my 5th year and second house of renovation. So one have picked up a few things along the way 😅

Congratulations to you both. After this, you will have a tremendous sense of accomplishment, and attachment to the apartment. I hope your neighbors appreciate how much you're increasing the value of the building. Love the matching height of the tile & flooring; friends from Lithuania did this in their house here in California (it looks phenomenal), where otherwise no one even bothers to try.

My girlfriend was as active and happy to learn in our renovation project too. We are very lucky men! :) Our project took 5 year intense, and 3 years roll-off though. Full old farmhouse which we practically rebuilt within itself.. ;) Linda, my girlfriend learned to drive an excavator in the process.

Was gonna mention about cutting your tile. Like glass, you only want to score it once. Re-scoring multiple lines (like you might do a knife blade cutting a piece of paper) will create different breaking points that run almost parallel causing the tangents you see. Not all tiles, but this type. Score only once. Then snap

One score only with manual tile cuters. They just create a tiny fracture, when you score twice it creates more than one fracture line and the split will go down either score lines and jump across both as well making the cut not a clean one.

In my village's house, we did more or less the same, but with a rubber mallet and a lot of elbow grease. Those orage thingies would have been really useful. But anyways, after all that hard work, we realized that building on top of plain soil isn't as accurate as you may think over the years.

Great work. I cant wait to see you do the floor heating with those infra red panels. I used them in my place and I have not decided yet if I am happy about them. They do use a lot of energy, hence more expensive then heating with gas. At least in my case.

Were there no alternatives to electric floor heating? I thought if the rest of the apartment has central heating (water-based heating), why not include the underfloor heating? In Sweden, where I live, electric underfloor heating is almost never installed...

Those tiles are called composite tiles as they are made of the same material through the whole thickness it's handier to use a diamond bladed angle grinder or wet saw you were lucky to not break them with tile cutter, beginner's luck possibly
