I’m sure I remember the police thinking the killer had left a note on Rachel’s body but it was a bandage her son had tried to make to help her bleeding. The horror that poor baby faced is unthinkable.

I always tell my children never ever speak to the police without a solicitor present, however innocent you are. (They’re only 7&8 so think I’m nuts 🤣) but When you’ve heard so many miscarriages of justice it really stays with you.

Sadly that wasn’t even good for him. He blew through it and is now homeless. He was quoted saying… “After everything I’d been through, I just wanted to live for the moment. It's truly heartbreaking and infuriating when cases involve the wrongful accusation of innocent individuals, especially when it leads to such terrible consequences for the victims involved, like the innocent 4-year-old you mentioned. The failure of the police and investigators to uphold justice is indeed deeply saddening and utterly unacceptable.

I can remember this case happening even though I was only about 11. Everyone was horrified. I’m sure I remember the police initially thought the killer had left a note on her body but it turned out to be something her little boy had done trying to make a bandage to stop her bleeding. I worked in Wimbledon Village and remember clearly that day hearing all the Police sirens and people talking about what was going on, it was heartbreaking when we heard the story of Rachel and her son. Will never forget that horrible day..

But he really had more to consider than what the police insisted on. The Court ruled very swiftly that the case against Colin was too weak to accept. Surely that was something to ponder, and the father shouldn't blunder into a dogmatic speech, the point of which was, sans evidence, that Colin was of course guilty despite the Court.

Certainly the standard seems to have slipped. Do they still have plain clothes detectives recruited for their I.q. seems we need a few Colombo rather than profiler.s with set ideas...they just have to get one aspect wrong and the whole case gets thrown off. I know this detective talking about Asperger's isn't a mental health professional so he deserves a ton of grace but I just wanted to clear that up. Asperger's or autism can be accompanied by learning difficulties but the two are co-morbid... Not causally linked.

criminal profiling is just one tool in a number of tools used in a criminal investigation. It should not be the be all and end all and that's when they get it wrong. The profile is just a guide these officers took it as actual scientific evidence.

Juries are composed of groups of your average Jo public. I avoid social groups for tge very reason that they're often swayed by the bully in the pack. I prefer independent thinkers...who generally keep themselves to themselves. I would have no faith in a jury...you don't know what their m.o is. It needs scrapping. The judges should use professional jurors. Three...especially trained in areas of policing law and criminology. Having sat an I.q test.

I've seen another documentary that focussed more on how the Police abused Britton's profile and then threw him under the bus. It includes a touching conversation between him and Stagg, who was told by the police that they Britton had purposely identified Stagg. It turns out that Britton had never known the name of any suspect, and the police also ignored and then lied about any concerns Britton had about Napper. Stagg forgave Britton as he realised the police had played them both.
