I lived this shit back in the day, and there IS justice here. Haters gonna hate.. but the fact that she's dropping James Gang on the world is just fucking awesome. In my book Sheryl is uniquely the ONLY contemporary female solo performer who has crossed every popular musical genre successfully (country, rock, pop). She has my respect on every front. ..and my metal, grunge, punk rock friends agree 100%. I dont know of anyone who doesn't like Sheryl Crow. A rare true musician.

I'm a JW/JG guy from hh-way back...the house of Walsh IS a sacred place to enter.. that SAID, the guitar & drum work was a solid cover - her singing on this one definitely blase' though. She's physically The Bomb at 46 but I can't give her high marks for covering - it's cool that she respects his genius enough to give it a whirl though. Love seeing the kids get rockin' to REAL guitar-hero rock.

True, it's not as urgent as Walsh and the James Gang's version, but that's a matter of style, not ability. Doing covers has been always difficult , people expect ( because they know the song ) that the song sounds like in the record , some times you can do it , some times it's difficult ,in my humble opinion the music in this cover was pretty well done , the voice is different ? , so what , she stay in tune at all time and by the way playing bass and sing has its own grace , try and see.

Making covers is hard, specially with you are compared with a band like James Gang (no, james gang is not only Walsh, there are other two musicians and imho the basits and drummer deserves credit) If it gets too hard, you may consider make a version, the band's version of that song, change some stuff, play around, try to tweak it to turn it into another genre, who knows... thats the magic

I just watched Brian May, Satriani, and others, playing with Walsh. It's nice to see the respect shown from very talented musicians to people that have paved the way for so many.

DRUMMERS LIVES MATTER. Yep; wanna know what's really missing here: The Jimmy Fox groove. His dynamics and soul. Jimmy's drumming groove is entirely absent here, and that's one element that makes this cover totally flat. Yes, Sheryl and her musicians are pros, no doubt. I've been reading the comments and I feel it's important to remember that electric rock is very dependent on mixing, eq, and recording quality. There is no way of knowing what this sounded like live. Most live recordings generally suck. It's very difficult to capture the essence of a live performance on a recording.

Oh come on Sheryl…the purpose of the last verse is to show off vocally. You have to go for it…the song sounds incomplete if you just sleepwalk through it. This has the vibe of a very solid / tight cover band that books regular gigs because the guitarist can play anything and the lead singer is pretty… Having said that / I’ve heard she is a very kind / non-diva celebrity, so good on her…but musically I never understood what all the fuss was about.

I certainly agree on a few points. I think that the guitarists and drummer did keep it close to great and they covered it well. The drummer wasn't nearly close to the original, but a lot of the time, the players are told not to wander too far. Crow's the boss, was given the permission to cover the song, and with that, you've gotta do what you are allow to do.
