This song to me is about someone who is afraid of getting close to someone and they run before they get hurt or left (before the lightening strikes).

Many years ago when my wife and I got married...we had a videographer who then went around the reception and talked to the people that were there and asked them if there was something that they would like to say to the Bride and groom. There were a lot of nice people at our wedding and a lot of nice thoughts that were shared. But one that I will never forget was a little boy who was probably only about six or seven years old at the time and when the videographer asked him if there was something that he wanted to share with the bride and groom he smiled and looked down shyly and said one word.... he said “Good“. I don’t know if I can describe exactly what that has meant to me from the first time I saw it. But that one, innocent, sweet, pure, thoughtful, kind, moment of....goodness from a child who could not possibly understand the enormity of what his wish meant to me.... almost felt like a message from the universe. Sadly, although she eventually succumbed to her families issues with alcohol and it ended our marriage and ultimately her life... Cathy and I were together for over 21 years and we raised 2 beautiful daughters who are my very definition of all that is “Good”. I do not know who that little boy was or who he came with... or if he just appeared out of thin air for that matter....but I hope his life has and always will be filled with “Good” as well. ♥️😎❤️

I don't believe that things come from the "universe," since I am devoted to God. But your sentiment here was beautiful and it made me cry. There are some moments in life that just stick with you in such a profound way - the depth of emotions it brings is beyond words. I'm so sorry to hear about your marriage and ex-wife. As somebody in recovery from alcoholism, it hurts my heart that you and your daughters lost her. But there is recovery, self discovery, self compassionate, and meaningfulness out there for people in addiction who want it and can find their way to it. It takes a lot of work, but it's a beautiful journey.

Best Sheryl Crow song she ever wrote. First time I heard this song I was sitting on my chair on the dock in front of my grandparent's cabin during the summer in the afternoon having a cold one and watching this thunderstorm in the distance thinking to myself how precious life can be if you just stop for a moment and think about all the best times you had growing up and making the most of each day like it's your last.

Five days after my Mother's death in September 2005, Sheryl Crow's superb "Wildflower" album was released - which I thoroughly immersed myself in while I tried to make sense of things. The song "Good Is Good" and it's beautiful accompanying music video was both a salve and a point of emotional heartbreak for me. The lyrics of the song are very evocative of things with me, within me and my life. Nearly two decades later - as I've been weathering a continuing and seemingly building preponderance of bad news, bad luck and just bad....that really kicked into gear at the end of July of last year and has now built to quite a crescendo....Ms. Crow's song and video - from her mostly forgotten and unloved album - have come back to visit.

Lyrics: Good is good and bad is bad You don’t know which one you had She put your books out on the sidewalk Now they’re blowing ‘round They won’t help you when you’re down Love’s on your list of things to do To bring your good luck back to you And if you think that everything’s unfair Would you care if you’re the last one standing there And everytime you hear the rolling thunder You turn around before the lightening strikes And does it ever make you stop and wonder If all your good times pass you by I don’t hold no mystery But I can show you how to turn the key Cause all I know is where I started So downhearted And that’s not where you want to be And everytime you hear the rolling thunder You turn around before the lightening strikes And you could find a rock to crawl right under If all your good times pass you by When the day is done And the world is sleeping And the moon is on its way to shine When your friends are gone You thought were so worth keeping You feel you don’t belong And you don’t know why And everytime you hear the rolling thunder You turn around before the lightening strikes And does it ever make you stop and wonder If all your good times pass you by When the day is done And the world is sleeping And the moon is on its way to shine When your friends are gone You thought were so worth keeping You feel you don’t belong Neither do I

Back in 2005, walmart had an in store tv network and played ads for products, new music, movies, and part of this video was in it and the section from 0:55 to 1:36 would play every 10 minutes or so. The relaxingness of the song, the super mario world like clouds reminding me of fun as a kid and me turning 25 shortly made me wonder if i was working my life away trying to get ahead a little, with little luck at romance and a job i was really starting to hate (i was a vendor at walmart and was there a couple hours a day), what the next step in life would be. Things eventually worked out...

All of Sheryl's record sleeves are beautiful and work well. But it must be recognized that that of "Wildflowers" is particularly attractive (graphically speaking). The cover is full of details just as important as each other and Sheryl is a reflection of her natural beauty. Very beautiful album which will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year.

+Daniel de S. Gomes Sorry to reply now. I no longer enjoy music of today. It seems like you have to dig deep to find anything on actual people who write music. We have to appreciate those that write their music, what image they put out there and what they also support cause a lot of artists today are involved with the illuminati, although they won't admit it (which is ridiculous) when in plain sight their videos and performances do not make sense with the song. If only people could truly realize their influence on what sells, we could stop supporting things like this. Thanks for your comment.

Alanis had two great songs, "Ironic" and the unquestionably overplayed, "You Oughta Know" The next album was unmitigated nonsense. Case in point, "Thank you insert blank _____India" . Utter rhubarb! Alanis, we neva knew ye! Sheryl Crowin contrast, still stands up and for many years to come will be randomly picked up and listened to- occasionally invoking the same fuzzy feelings as the first time it was played.

Everyday you grace my soul, my spirit rises from nowhere to meet you and Sheryl the impression made on me has greatly dampened that world of which you sing. I abused myself with dope and alcohol to the point of no return, when i lost my wife 10 yrs ago on the 15th & 16th - I lost myself. And the devil had an agenda to catch up on. Your music since a long time ago always had the ability to restart my heart and clear my days of rolling thunder. Which i wasnt running from but abused my senses even more for the purpose! One of my very favorite songs from Sheryl. It makes you think about the loves in your life that could have been something magical. The line "And every time you hear the rolling thunder" (meaning love is in your sight) "You turn and run before the lightning strikes" (you refuse to give that love a chance and you run before you can see where that love leads). Sort of like Fleetwood Mac's song by Stevie Nicks "Dreams". Thunder only happens when it's raining... Players only love you when they're playing... Say women, they will come and they will go... When the rain washes you clean you'll know. I wonder if that song inspired this one. And the artwork in the video is just beautiful.

Allen Finn The correct lyrics are: _"When_ your friends are gone *You thought were so worth keeping* You feel you don’t belong _And_ you don’t know why..." 🙂 www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/sherylcrow/goodisgood.html

Sheryl Crow is woman that makes Missouri real and alive!! I woke up this morning riding on the Greyhound bus. I looked out the window and saw a river on a big bridge. So should I get off the bus at Mobile AL...to go to Gulfport, MS or to Nashville, TN? Shania Twain or Sheryl Crow?

Awesome! Love it, especially the details like stripping it down to the keyboard for a couple of beats and the strings in the background. Simply great!
