Was reading up some forums about max line pressure on a stock 4l60e and was said that max psi was about 175-200. Which ok for that trans to handle . Usually with a transgo or other kit it would increase the psi to over 200 for firmer shiftkng in high horsepower cars so it wont slips the clucths and burn them up. But having full line pressure all the time as a daily might not be good either seeing its like being in a tow/haul mode all the time, you will see a increase in transmission temp and possible pump failure after alot of miles driving. What i was thinking to do was just leave the stock trans wiring harness unplugged , then go get a junkyard plug and do your setup with rachet shifter you have now . When you wanna race or have fun with being able to manual control the shift point you plug that up . When you want stock column shifting you plug the oem harness back up . My only question is you keep saying to have it wired up for 4th gear all the time which is solenoid A grounded always and if you want first gear you add solenoid B to a microswitch . Now you said that in the first video you made , but in the last 2 video you say the solenoid B is always grounded for 4th gear always and solenoid A is for the microswitch . So which is it?? It should be A solenoid always ground and B solenoid on the switch i would think.
@luckyPiston4 жыл бұрын
Don't forget he is moving the main spool valve each time to select the gears bypassing what the switches would be doing if the selector had been left in drive. its just that solenoid A blocks first gear on the main spool if its not grounded.

@chuyg922 жыл бұрын
I actually did this exact same thing. You’re going to use pins B A T E on the connector. Pin B is for shift solenoid B pins A is for shift solenoid A pin T is your torque converter clutch and pin E is power coming from the fuse box. You want to wire it so it’s in 4th gear all the time. So shift solenoid A is going to get wired directly to ground since it’s always going to be on. Shift solenoid B is what gets wired to the micro switch. (No power is needed at the switch). The switch is just acting as a bridge to ground out shift solenoid B to go from 4th gear to first. Since in first gear shift solenoid A is grounded out (as always) and so is shift solenoid B when you activate the micro switch. So to the micro switch one wire comes from the connector at the trans and the other side of the micro switch goes to ground. So when you drop the shifter into first gear it grounds out turning on shift solenoid B which give you first gear. Hope that helps.

@@MattsMadnessOfficial yeah, I love mine. Very first car too. In the shop right now because I blew the 4l60e out of it doing burnouts. But when I get it back, I plan on doing this modification. So I wont need to tune the car to run without the computer hooked up to the transmission? Exact same way you showed it here?

Hello. Awesome video. I've been searching for about 2 weeks for this. Can you please help me out. I'm not quite understanding the micro switch. can you please go a little bit more in depth about how that works, what it does, and how do I hook it up? You're helping me save, I don't mind paying you for info that i need

I guess I’m being dense. How does it know to shift from 2nd to 3rd?
@81eagle5 жыл бұрын
I doesn't, is my understanding. It is fully MANUAL. As he said if it's in 4th it's in 4th. The driver selects his desired gear. The transmission no longer has any "AUTO" functions. Just way a control freak like me would prefer it!
@dreece20004 жыл бұрын
3 gear would be like unplugging the harness by the way he is using it. 3rd gear is what you get when both shift solenoids are off. In 3 gear. You will get second gear by just manually putting it into second with no solenoid being commanded First and 4th are the only two gears you need to command a solenoid. Other that the tcc sol. He’s really oversimplified a really complicated transmission if you don’t understand how it works then you shouldn’t be doing this and he should say this.

I have a ford e4od, wondering if this setup would work for a full manual conversion? When you go from park to reverse, does it Slam into gear, or is it a normal engagement? 1993 ford bronco, pull a pretty heavy car/equipment trailer with it, do you think there would be any issue? Sorry for all the questions...but one more... Monster transmission sells a kit to allow me to adjust line pressure from stock to 3 progressively firmer shift settings...how would that work with this setup?
@MattsMadnessOfficial5 жыл бұрын
not a ford guy so I have no idea, but running full line pressure isn't going to hurt anything but yeah you get very firm shifts in every gear

alright so i have done exactly this but without the micro swith cause im in a rural area and waiting for mine to come in, but when i hit my "1st gear" switch, its acting like the tcc is locking up, and my tcc switch seems dead when i flip it. the trans is a 98. am i doing something wrong? or is there a problem with my trans. havent tried a speed run yet either cause i think im having an issue internally.

double check your wiring pinout on the plug on the trans temporary unhook tcc cap it off try again, you are switching to ground not 12 volt+ right?

I’m doing this mod in conjunction with a transmission controller from ez tcu. It has a manual shift mode. I read that a 4l60e is slow and/or laggy to shift using momentary switches. Any truthful that?
@MattsMadnessOfficial3 жыл бұрын
what shifts faster ? ground coming from a switch or ground coming from a trans controller? they are both ground both telling the trans to do the same thing, only difference is the trans controller controls line pressure the switch mod makes line pressure run at 100%
