Thank you, Mr man with a, multitool, I lve just removed a jagged splitting cable, which dragged out the white cable guide, you removed with a hook, I had no idea what or where the guide had come from, thank you brilliant person.

brilliant, many thanks. Had bit of old cable jammed right inside so first screw release exposed the mechanism to remove and clean and lube.

What I learn here, never be forced to take this thing apart. Be friendly and gentle to your shifters, clean them , lubricate them.Dont crash them and be happy.

Something to add: The bolt at 2:19 has left hand thread on a left side shifter. That took me a while to find out

Thank you. My right shifter work fine but have abnormal noise, sound like a piece of plastic or metal in a plastic cub when shaken. I heard this sound when ride to rough road. Whould it be some part break or take off? or just something fly into shifter while braking 😅

What material is used on the upshift lever? Mine has kind of a surface rust? Idk but it's definitely not silvery shiny anymore. Tried using WD40 but wont go away

Likely it's steel. Does a magnet stick to it? WD40 isn't designed to remove rust. Do a web search for proper rust removal methods, products, and followup surface treatments and care.

I'm somewhat desperately looking to repair a 105 11sp hydraulic shifter, R-7020 (actually the short reach version, the 7025), It mysteriously started to exhibit an issue where there is no click when shifting into easier cogs: the large silver pawl doesn't index the teeth on the toothed disc. It seems more to be a problem with that bracket that the cable tensions, not the pawl. I'm confident in my ability to take it apart to troubleshoot it, but I'm weary of the possibility that I won't be able to find any spare parts for it. What advice would you have, if any?

I'm interested in how the lever itself fits into the hood. Mine has been pushed out a bit after a crash and I wanna put it back in. Shifter still works perfectly, is it a case of just pushing it back with force?and is the whole lever blade just one piece or is the plate part separate? It's a 5800 shifter that works the front mech

What is the screw at 2:19 and what is it’s purpose?

The one removed starting at 2:19 holds the back of the shift mechanism to the brake body. Another screw holding the front of the shift mechanism is removed starting at 6:00, and a set screw pinching the top of the shift mechanism is loosened at 6:14 before I realized that the lever blade needed to be removed before the shift mechanism could be fully removed.

The only spare parts I bought were E-clips from Amazon. 2mm, I believe, but I got a whole variety pack.

What lube is ok for this lever? What grease You use?

I just used a basic white lithium grease. You probably want something light that's not too thick and won't thicken up in the cold, otherwise the upshift lever sometimes doesn't engage.
