Debbie Reynolds aged amazingly well!!!! She was so spunky and cute! As wonderful as Elizabeth Taylor is I cannot understand how she could destroyed her best friend's marriage and stole her children's father away? How could she do that and have a conscience? That can't be justified by saying Elizabeth was grieving. That's pretty darn cruel in my book. And it goes against girl code!

Towards the end of the interview, she mentions how Elizabeth stated that she only ever wanted a simple life and to be a housewife. So did Coco Chanel - and probably countless others in the rich lime light. Shirley laughs it off (only try to read her face while the interviewer asks the question). I believe it's true. Everyone one wants a simple life in the end.
@jochenstossberg54273 жыл бұрын
Coco Chanel wanted two things in her life, success and money. She was one of the most ruthless women in the business, who sat out the war with a Nazi officer in the luxury of the Ritz, while Paris, and her fellow Parisians, fell. She only escaped having her head shaven, and being paraded in the town square as a traitor, because of Winston Churchill. And that's the truth. He saved her from the most devastating public humiliation.

At 10:35, anyone who's seen "Butterfield 8" knows what a trashy role that was for Liz in a trashy movie. Amazing Hollywood will give the Oscar to La Liz just bc she was near death during the voting process. Shirley really deserved it for "The Apartment" that year.

shihlin1 Shirley was great in the apartment, which was a classier movie all told. But B8 for all its schlockiness is an enjoyable movie and Elizabeth is great in it. In some ways it looks more truthful now with hindsight than it did at the time (compared it with the wonderful Breakfast at Tiffany’s, where the call girl is so sanitised as to be barely recognisable as such). Gloria resisting Laurence Harvey’s grip on her arm and grinding her heel into his toe gives some insight into the violent undercurrent if such girls lives, and the proce paid fir seemingly glamorous and carefree lives
