2:58 honestly you did right with Zero first in my opinion, for much of the reasons you give, it is a better introduction. The original is very dated, I know some people will say this is heresy, but Fate 2006 is okay but not entirely necessary anymore, if they ever remake it, it could be done better, but the majority of the info you gleam from it is given in the others as well, and I am a huge Fate fan, loved 2006 when I watched it, but I will admit it is not the most needed anymore. If there were only 2 Fate shows to watch to get the majority of the story, Zero and UBW is the way to go. HF is hella fun if you enjoy it and want more, but after that jump right into the extended stuff if you want. To your comments on Archer growing on you, I won't use names for obvious reasons but yea I love Archer too, dude is my favorite Fate servant, followed very closely to this Lancer. Both are permanent slots on my Fate/GO team lol, I don't even care if Archer kinda sucks in FGO, Ive maxed them both out.

Since you will most likely not continue after hf trilogy, I hope you atleast end your fate journey by reacting to all the noble phantasms in fgo, it has lots of characters and it's kinda fun seeing different noble phantasm's even if you don't know 95% of the character's. Other than that looking forward to your hf experience :)

This is what I've been saying. Zero adds SO MUCH to UBW. The arguments I've found to start UBW are good, don't get me wrong, but they don't compare to the absolute satisfaction and nostalgia of a watchthrough with zero being first

On one hand I agree with this, but on the other starting with Zero does set up a few expectations that aren't met in UBW, which may affect someones enjoyment of UBW. For example, in these reactions he frequently brings up his expectations for Sakura playing a role, when she doesn't until Heaven's Feel, and those expectations are made so much greater from the knowledge of her past. And the Heaven's Feel route has so many aspects that don't hit as hard by the foreknowledge from Zero, such as Illya's relation to Kiritsugu, or Rin and Sakura being siblings. But, on the other hand, many aspects of the UBW anime feel like they expect the viewer to already have watched Zero. Some scenes with Illya, it being clear who Saber is, the details of the fire, etc. It's why I find it difficult to decide which one to recommend to someone, and have mostly resorted to going with which one best fits the genre they personally favour

For UBW perhaps it's true. The problem is that UBW itself is like 1/3 of whole story, and it's the middle third. But because of how Saber as character was portrayed in prequel in Fate route she just feels wrong and in HF knowledge form Zero kills like half of the plot twists. But this is if take whole story to the account and almost no one does that. So I just came to conclusion that when it comes to anime adaptations there is no right answer.

As someone who's first introduction to the fate series was the visual novels I've mixed feelings about that. On one hand I get what you mean, on the other learning everything alongside Shirou was its own special feeling.

@@zombiechook3402 yeah things like that happends when UFOtable decides to do their own shit without the consern of both autors.You can clearly see that UBW references a lot of times Zero adaptation so it is expect's you to be at least familiar with it,but at the same they skipped the Fate route and decited to animate the second route right away.(the excuse that they didn't do that because the adaptation already exist doesn't work by the way because the adaptation of UBW already existed in a form of a movie....)

Just to say, the only people that are supporting Fate Zero being watched last are super Fate fans that read the visual novels from 2004. They are wrong, for anime only's Fate Zero first is the objectively better watch order (UBW Anime is obviously made with the idea that the viewers had watched Zero before it), but the people that recommend Zero last don't care about the anime, they only care about the order of the visual novels and then the Zero light novel, hence why they only recommend the visual novel order and then Zero, as the Zero light novel was a prequel to the Visual Novels. But what everyone who has any critical thinking understands, is that the Fate Zero ANIME is clearly not a prequel to UBW ANIME or Heavens Feel ANIME, prequels do not get released before the rest of the series and certainly the creators of Zero did not expect everyone to wait until the final Heavens Feel movie came out to watch Zero. What those Visual Novel fans don't tell you, is that most of them don't even like the anime adaptations and even moreso hate Fate Zero (seriously VN peeps really dislike Gen Urobuchis take on Saber) and really they think you shouldn't even watch the animes and just read the visual novels instead.

Exactly, it mostly depends of the narrative. I’m my opinion, one should see zero after the saber route but before unlimited blade works, because this way you don’t loose any strong plot twist (like revealing that saber is actually King Arthur or the surviving of Gilgamesh in the previous war), but since Saber route has not good adaptation, it makes totally sense to see Zero before anything else, since Unlimited Blade Works and Heavens Feels tells you things you doesn’t learn neither in Saber route or in Zero, at the contrary, it makes a lot more sense to watch Zero as a big flashback before the other to routes since Archer arc strongly FOLLOWS Kiritsugus arc and Heavens Feels finished the global arc of all 4 parts (Saber, Zero, UBW and also heavens feel). Does it make sense or is only me?
