It's also showing that deep down, Shiv is still daddy's little girl. There's an indication that Shiv is his Logan's favorite since she's his only daughter but Shiv failed his test many times because of how her arrogance, proud, and too much gaslights as Shiv mostly wants to play safe and likes to double cross everything.

I truly adore the little detail that Shiv sees Kendall completely distraught and assumes something is wrong with their mother. Logan has always been such a strong, unbeatable presence in Shiv and her siblings’ lives that nothing could be seriously wrong with him, right?
@jodythomas4324

Well she admitted later in the episode that she said mom because she was kind of hoping it was mom and not dad. Her dad means so much more in her life than her mom ever could, and that even means from a place of love. Not just financially and emotionally and all the rest. Her dad dying is 1000 times more devastating to her than her moms passing ever could be.

@@jodythomas4324 also explains a lot about shivs personality. Girls are usually closer to their mothers and yet shiv is almost wishing it’s her mom and feels ok to voice it. You can see the damage of not having a female role model in everything she does, how she speaks etc.

I lost my father suddenly on February of this year. From the moment that Kendall grabs Shiv’s hand when he goes to get her, I was sobbing. I still can’t watch this scene without crying. It’s like watching all of the emotions I felt at that time being played out in front of me. And I think the thing that gets me the most is Tom’s gentleness with her. His delivery of “I don’t know, honey” is so real and full of so much genuine compassion that I’m tempted to call it one of the best moments of acting I’ve ever witnessed. This whole episode has cemented Succession as possibly modern television’s greatest achievement.

@@Chibbykins I mean he kind of told us more than once both directly to Ken and to others the best way Logan knows how 😂 Also, on a more analytical level, I think the kids naturally mirror their godparents and the relationship dynamics can inform us how Logan views his children: -Ken/Frank is who Logan is the hardest on & who he has the most tension with over the years, but we saw how Logan reacted in his state of delirium when he thought someone was being mean to Frank and we saw how Logan reacted when he thought Ken was in danger during the lockdown. Despite his rivalry with both Frank and Ken that’s who he has a special relationship with and why he keeps bringing them both back into the fold despite the betrayals. -Shiv is like Gerri as in she’s a woman and she’s also a strong person that Logan can trust and count on consistently, and like Gerri I don’t think he always appreciates Shiv value because she’s still just a woman. However, it’s easier for him to have a relationship with Shiv & Gerri for this very reason throughout the years because they don’t intimidate or pushback with hostility, or at least they didn’t for many years. -Roman is 100% like Karl (I know it’s not confirmed that he’s Roman’s godfather but I think it’s fair to deduce this since he’s second in Logan’s henchmen group and Roman was born second) IMO in how they appear as sycophants for Logan’s acceptance and approval despite the fact that they still provide a true valuable asset to Logan. However, Karl & Roman are the ones who bend to Logan will more naturally & are compliant & essentially going along to get along. Out of his 3 henchmen I do believe he was closes to Frank and same goes for Ken.

Give her an Emmy, Oscar, grammy, Tony and Nobel peace prize. Shiv gets it Every time. Can someone tell me the backstory on Connor’s mom I just realized Shiv, Rom and Ken have the same mom but Connor doesn’t.I wonder if that’s why Logan “never loved “ him.
@shonna_77
@shonna_77 Жыл бұрын
Connor's mom is not Caroline (Shiv, Roman, and Kendall's mom). At some point Logan had Connor's mom put into psychiatric care and abandoned Connor. In an interview Alan Ruck has said that Connor's mother has died. I think that's about all we know.

They captured this so well. the insanity and confusion you feel when you lose a parent so suddenly is unimaginable. The way they’re all panicking in their own way but there’s literally nothing you can do. Losing a parent so suddenly is so jarring and they really did a great job capturing how it really feels 💔💔 you’ll never be ready to accept your parent dying especially when it’s so sudden.

The fact we never learn how they actually get threaten since they were kids by Logan and the way they act like that on their adulthood just make it interesting. The closest way we see of how their flashback look like was in the opening scene, that's it. They all fear Logan but they have no choice because he is their father.

As a swedish person who lives in Stockholm, I've had this dream since ep 1 that they would visit Europe (especially Stockholm), and when it was confirmed that Logan was going there I was so happy. But then he fucking dies on the plane over there...

Tom in this scene showed he was the best among them all. Knowing that Logan might be gone soon, he calmly explains the situation and makes sure they all had the opportunity to say their piece. He tried not to overwhelm them but be blunt about the gravity of the situation. There have been inklings of Tom being the best among them in earlier seasons but damn, this moment solidified that despite his faults, Tom is unironically a great guy. And Shiv was very lucky

Just give it to her 🏆 the season isn’t even over and that scene alone is some tour de force shit No other actor could’ve made me cry resentful tears, not for the tyrannical titan that is Logan Roy dying unceremoniously, but the fucking heartbreak she put me through as I see her go from cold calculated boss lady who I know has some reserved humanity/decency more than the rest of the children but has to keep up the hardest exterior out of all of them for the sake of being taken as a serious successor, get shattered and watch her toss all of her guarded emotions she’s been so painfully keeping together even in the most painfully moments throughout seasons she always was able to revert back into this boss lady alter ego to be the closest thing to recreate and maintain the Logan Roy dynasty cutthroat business. Roman could never be cutthroat and Kendall wanted to be like his father but simply could never stomach the darkest sides of the family business and be sane. Siobhan is the closest thing to her father and to watch her drop the facade and be vulnerable even for a few sentences was a performance I will never forget. Even the most seemingly cold blooded characters might just be dissociating into a self they’ve been groomed and abused into becoming the flawed adults that we love to hate and hate to love, so for after 3 seasons to see the ego collapse as you see the little girl who’s been vying for her father approval in the worst ways simply not accepting that this monster of a man she wants to be just like is leaving her. just like even Connor who gave up on trying to make his father proud of him somehow. With him already being the most detached opposed to being attached like the three siblings he’s quickly able to move on fin
