The radio fix is pretty simple, just KZbin it , I've fixed mine just added a little soder to 3 or 4 terminals, it seems like you got a great deal on the super duty, thanks for sharing 👍

The spare looks new, perhaps in the short term getting that down and using it rather than the flattened tire. In any case the spare tire carrier needs attention, but you do you.

I would definitely track down the recall stuff, Ford has always been real good about tracking that according to VINs. Any dealership should be able to tell you if the recalls have been repaired.

Check the spare tire PSI. There is a sensor on it also.

It is a Ford. A virgin flat surface on wheels. Some rustoleum white sprayed on the black spots on the hood would cover it well until next year.

The recalls on the F-250 are important to update your truck to factory specifications. It will also alert Fors that your truck is still on the road and not in some salvage yard. The downside is you'll have to make an appointment at your local Ford dealer and then leave the truck. The trailer lights you're fixing are normally installed on the bumper, not below. That's how they are on my 2016 F-150. The right plug is for non-electric brake trailers and the left plug is for trailers equipped with electric brakes.

Besides your tag bulbs I would check the left side turn bulbs if it is flashing rapidly. I would change all the fluids, put some tires on it, find a take off tail gate, detail it, and drive it.

Do you remember how the trucks look around 76 with the stripe going over the hood and down the side they had the wide stripe and two narrow stripes and make it a red stripe kind of neat to have the old with the new

Do NOT hook up that tracking device, it’s a scam. Every one I’ve talked to that has one has had their rates go up because they averaged like two mph over the speed limit or made a couple of abrupt stops when someone pulled out in front of them. The problem is the tracker doesn’t know what the traffic conditions were at the time it recorded the data.

That's exactly what I was thinking about the trackers, I'd heard similar comments about them years ago. I kinda wonder if being a farm trucks in rough or muddy fields would affect it somehow .Also it wouldn't be the first time a cow in a field or Deer on the road ran in front of my truck causing heavy braking , that would probably register against you as well.

It's not a scam. I have had 4 different companies tracking devices, State Farm, Nationwide, Progressive, and The Hartford, and I've always saved money on my premiums. It does make you more conscious of your driving habits and they can only save you money. They won't surcharge you if you aren't a good driver. They reward you for being a good driver. They are not being the police

Just curious; you seem to change insurance companies frequently, how long did you keep the tracking device from the same company? I’m more like Ross, Ive had the same company for 25 years for home and auto (multiple vehicles) and I get discounts because of it.

The tire pressure alarm is probably because a tire was moved from the learned position. There should be a section in the owner manual for resetting them. If you buy tires from a tire dealer have them relearn/reset them. Most shops have a gadget that does it easier than doing it yerself. (Edit: I couldn’t say I know how Ferds even operate. I’ve only run the road in chebbies that had them.)

I personally wouldn't worry so much about the color of the truck. Do the quick and easy dress up stuff to it and drive it. Let it grow on you. Especially if you're thinking you may not keep it.

I did the car tracker thing and if you speed or do anything it subtracts from your discount so it’s a spy and who wants a spy setting in your vehicle. I took mine out and switched insurance companies. Just my opinion Ross.

I don’t like the idea of being tracked either but as long as it doesn’t charge more than full price I’m ok with it. Any discount is good I think. They said it starts at 10% and that saved me over $200 so far. I’m hoping it will all even out. If I don’t like it I will definitely tell them to shove it or switch companies.

I second the other people saying not to get that State Farm thing. My uncle got it a year ago and what a pain in the butt that thing is. It dings you for going 1 mile and hour over the speed limit so you end up riding your brakes down every hill. And if you speed up or slow down too fast it dings you too.

The Super Duty is coming along. For your initial investment, you'll have a decent vehicle without major inputs. May as well sell the other truck to your cousin. They don't get any more valuable the longer they sit around(unless they're a classic T-Bird or Mustang).

I enjoy my super duty up here in wisconsin but the rust is getting bad I don't know if I could replace it it's a 99.5 7.3 6 speed stick yet with 3.73 gears as a 4x4 I still get 21 to 23 a gallon on diesel fuel

You should have your vehicles listed as farm use for a big insurance discount. Those tracking devices are scams nobody actually gets 30 percent. They monitor everything speed you drive vs the limit and how hard you break/random break harsh breaking or if you randomly jerk side to side like you were distracted. My coworker has one he drives like a gma underspeed very cautious and said best he got was 17%

Don't get that insurance tracker put on any truck or car you own,,,They entice you in by telling you your policy will go down by 30 or 40 percent,,But what they don't tell you is the tracker can tell absolutely everything that you do,,If you go over the speed limit even by 2mph or you have to jam on the brakes for whatever reason your insurance will skyrocket up,,They are basically a scam ,,And instead of saving 30 percent your insurance will go up by 50....

If that truck were mine with no more than you have put into it, I would replace that plastic molding on top of the tailgate and install or have sprayed in a bed liner. I would have new tires installed on the new alloy wheels and eventually think about having it painted. I have seen how much dust is generated any time you do anything around the farm, so white would not be my choice. I like the red color of your dad's truck but I am also partial to tan. Maybe a tan and cream combination with a white dividing stripe. You know, I actually admire your incredible work ethic and attention to detail when working on all these things, you should quit putting yourself down so much. To leave you on a kind of amusing note, you all the time seem to be chasing the cattle back into the fenced areas. I was watching a Chuck Missler Bible teaching video the other day and in Deut. 25:4 it says "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn!" This thought is repeated again in Paul's epistles 1 Corinthians 9:9-11 and 1 Timothy 5:18. I could not help but think about you chasing those black cows back into the pasture as you so often do!
