It's my number 3 favorite Wes Craven film. May this legend rest in peace and may we enjoy the work he made until the end of time.

Shocker was a FUN film to watch. I love the death execution part.

We've got Freddy action figures, Jason action figures, Michael Myers action figures and everything else. Why can't we have Horace Pinker action figures?!

Great review Matt. Shocker is my second favorite Wes Craven movie ,and I Never got the criticism for the movie that it's the same as Elm Street.

Great review! I LOVE Shocker, it's one of my all time favorites. I fuckin hate when people call it ANOES rip-off, and what's worse everyone uses that same bullshit excuse to call Shocker a bad movie. Bad movie my ass! This movie has excellent pace (for 110 minutes long movie!) without any boring moments, good directing and acting, suprisingly interesting story, some very good effects and gore (at least what MPAA didn't cut), one hell of a villain who is a real son of a bitch which you can't want to see get fucked up, very fun script with lot of humour, and one fuckin awesome soundtrack. And i always thought that final showdown between Jonathan and Pinker is not just fun but also very creative and hillarious. It's too bad that this wasn't a bigger hit, i would love to see sequels directed by Craven but on the other hand i like the way this movie ended, Pinker is trapped in TV world forever or dies in it, and there is no sequel bait ending. I don't get it why people till this very day think that this movie is supposed to be taken seriously. Do they even pay attention when watching the movie or just go with the flow and hate it because everybody else do? 19:00 Well i said it before and i i'll said it again, fuck the MPAA for their nazi habits and fuck the studios for not doing anything for their movies. Warner Brothers, Universal, Paramount, Miramax...I don't care if there are times when they actually do something, i still think that they could do better for all of their films and not just "selected" ones. I agree with you, Shout Factory would do a great job with special editions of many films including some of the ones by Wes Craven. And i mean some who actually deserved it, and not something like Deadly Blessing (sorry people, but that movie is one BORING piece of shit). 43:36 Damn true. And that's why i think this should not be considered to be just an ANOES rip-off. I am so glad to see that there are fans of Shocker like you and Mike who would do very long and in-depth reviews of it. But i have to be honest Matt, although i love it to death and i always defend it from haters, Shocker is still not my favorite Wes Craven movie. I love ANOES and specially Deadly Friend a whole lot more, but that's just me. Once again, great review.

This is a fun little movie! Definitely one of Craven's more underrated efforts. It's funny how the structure of the story is exactly the same as Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream 1. My only gripe is the middle section where Pinker is jumping in and out of bodies. But once Pinker came back the story picked up.

They were supposed to make a franchise (which I would've paid great money to see) FUCK CRITICS
@boomstickcritique902 Жыл бұрын
Been doing a Wes Craven marathon yea this does take elements from Nightmare on Elm Street however at least its Wes Craven who's taking from himself lol. I don't love this film but I do like it for me this was camp B movie fun entertainment that is a good time. The flick plays like a brother film to Freddy but its entertaining for fans of heavy metal 80s B movie horror. My Soul to take also felt like it was taking elements from Freddy as well.

I agree with you that this is a great and underrated horror film. When I saw it as a kid it scared the hell out of me and i didn't want to watch it again, but i watched again years later and it is one of Cravens best films. The story was good and I liked the Jonathan character, he was likable, you feel bad for him and root for him when he kicks Pinker's ass in the end. I think Peter Berg and Mitch Pileggi were great. I liked the soundtrack and the action was great. Pinker was a villain that I definitely wanted to see get his come up ins. I don't care what people say this is a great film and still great to this day. Favorite Craven films would be Serpent and the Rainbow, Hills Have Eyes 1977, People Under The Stairs, Shocker, Nightmare on Elm Street and I am going to put the Hills Have Eyes Remake as well.

Awesome review Matt! I agree with you on this one! As much as I absolutely love A Nightmare On Elm Street, Shocker is my favorite Wes Craven film too! I saw The People Under The Stairs for the first time on the 4th of July and loved it! So I'm looking forward to getting that double feature of both that and Shocker soon! I have The Serpent And The Rainbow in that 4 film set that also comes with Phantasm 2 and The Funhouse and some other film from the 70s. I do plan to revisit The Serpent And The Rainbow at some point cause I saw it when I was a kid and I don't think I've seen it since then.

Funny thing is people bitch about this movie being to much like Elm street ,well you dont see the killers for awhile in The hills have eyes that has a similar ,creepy beginning too,it's just Wes Cravens early style of filmmaking so duh about similaritys ,that said, I still love Shocker.

Hi Matt, SHOCKER & HOUSE III are pretty much the same story, but Shocker is better wrote, better directed, produced and acted! Its funny, its horrific, its well paced! Its by far the best performance of Mitch Pillegi! He's pure bad ass! The soundtrack rocks! I have loads of Shocker movies I have the rental VHS version, I hane the retail VHS and the DVD! I love the film, Peter Berg is a likeable hero! Its my favourite Wes Craven movie after Elm Street & New Nightmare its definnitly a 10/10! House III I like to but I feel that was trying to wrip Elm Street off more than Shocker ever did, but thats the only House film I like so I give it a 7/10!
