The Moon does rotate, it just rotates so that the same side is pointed at Earth all the time, it's tidally locked. When the Moon is "New" it's on the same side of the Earth as the Sun so that the Far Side (not dark side) is lit.

That's not exactly true what Rachel said about the lack of basements in CA. The earthquake reason is something of a myth. Colleen made this mistake on her podcast, too. It's because it was quicker & easier to build houses without them. Homes in the east have them because of colder climates, first lines, etc. Not necessary in CA.

Hi, love your podcasts. I have to comment on basements. I live in the north east and we have always had basements and very infrequent tornadoes. Oklahoma has a million tornadoes but has very few basements. Basements were originally for food, water….wine. Probably because the temperature would be less cold or less hot than outside.
