Badejo is a Yoruba name from Western Nigeria. Given that Portuguese also colonised Yorubaland before the British, the name might have been bastardised. Badejo is a well known name of person in Yoruba land.

In the French Caribbean, the GROG is well-known ! Rice and beans all over the Caribbean ( Cuba, Republica Dominicana, Haiti). Much of the capture of Africans transported to the Caribbean came fron Senegal and Guinee.

Good question. Most of Cape Verde feels almost deserted. I think mass migration is the main issue.
