Shoe restoration with the Dornstar | ASMR | Shoe Shine

Jason Dornstar got his start shining shoes serendipitously one morning at the Denver International Airport while acting like he was an employee at one of the Executive Shine Stands. After this exhilarating experience and earning a quick 40 dollars, Jason went on to be an Art curator for a local brewery in Denver in his free time. A few years later, Jason was offered a full time position Shining Shoes at Nordstrom in South Denver Colorado. He was searching for references to learn from in the shoe shine community and found Mike Wilson on KZbin. Mike Wilson was shining shoes with such a classic and authentic approach to the art of the shine. While watching Mike Wilson pop his rags while Mike listened to jazzy funky beats in his office, Jason was inspired to make a shoe shine video of his own. After Jason created a few videos he soon ended up catching the attention of The O.G. Mike Wilson himself. The small but often cheeky rivalry was then born. Jason still considers Mike Wilson as the originator of shoe shine videos on KZbin and contributes most of his success to the inspiration he recieved from Mike Wilson.
After honing in on his skills as a professional shoe shiner, he was encouraged by his loyal following of subscribers on KZbin to continue creating these videos. A couple of years later, after traveling to Hong Kong to teach the Art of Shoe Shine to future business owners, he made a name for himself in the Global Shoe Shine Community by trailblazing his way top the top on social media. Jason continues to teach and inspire many new faces in the Shoe Shine Community while serenading the ASMR Community with the subtle sounds of the Shine.

I've done this 3 times. Always on Johnston Murphys. Last pair were wingtips in a dark cordovan, stripped and took them to AE chilli with a neutral wax finish. Always get compliments on them. You made me want a walnut finished pair. Great job as always Jason. And thanks for showing your toe color technique, something I've been wanting to do but haven't. Might try it this weekend.

It's a acetone type dry cleaning solvent. Super toxic, but the fumes are fantastic. 😉

Dornstar, I'm fairly new to your channel. I have a pair of Leeds Bucher Oxfords by Allen Edmunds. I've studied every video on here for getting that mirror shine on my toe area. Used iced water, applied layer after layer of wax, and can only get a moderate shine. I'm using good old Kiwi black and have even tried to follow up with neautral. I'm going to order some Saphir gloss wax but my father who was in the Navy could get a mirror, and I mean mirror as in see your face in it, shine just with Kiwi Polish and cold water. Please help!

I am fairly new to this and I would like to understand the steps of the process: cleaner (spot remover); saddle soap, then colour cream and then polish wax? what about conditioner? when should it be applied? Also, what is it exactly that he is applying on the soles of the shoe and why? I've seen various videos and read some articles about how I can take care of/restore mt shoes, but so far Dornstart's is the one I like best, but would like it if he offered more verbal explanations as to what he's doing.

Brian Law I left the Navy wayyyy before they did that, but when it comes to any footwear that’s black leather, including sneakers, they get the Kiwi polish treatment, they definitely shine, they may not be Corfam shiny, but I’ve worn my polished black sneakers with a suit...! 😂😂
