Im a programmer and I respect Terry a shit ton so I will tell you guys about him. Terry A. Davis is considered the best programmer ever to live on this planet by the programmers. He was extremely smart and the kinda person you can call genius without downgrading the value of the word "genius". He built things that are some of the hardest engineering undertakings individually. He built a programming language, then used it to create an operating system, then built a graphics system, then a physics engine on top of that. Each of those things are extremely hard. I'm a simple man. I see TempleOS on a thumbnail, I click. (Also, Shando is based) Terry Davis is a rather tragic person. He suffered from extreme schizophrenia which led to constant hospitalization and frequent trips to jail. In spite of his illness, he was a brilliant programmer. I believe TempleOS is the largest non-unix/non-dos operating systems ever created, all by one man. Regardless of the fever dream nature of his insane ramblings, his technical work is impressive. Terry's comments strongly imply that his use of extreme slurs was a reaction to the hatred and mockery he received because of his illness. I think the most painful part of reading about Terry is how you can see that he understands his own situation in his more lucid moments. In 2018 he uploaded one final video a few hours before he walked in front of a train. It's difficult to understand if the memes inspired by Terry come from a place of mockery, respect, or tragedy. I think it's a bit of everything. RIP Terry. You won't be missed, but we will mourn the Steve Wozniak that never was. Mental illness sucks.

To people that don't know anything about Terry Davis, I'm not a specialist but seen a few things about him years ago: 1. He was a brilliant loner programmer. 2. Developed an entire operational system alone: Temple OS. 3. Suffered from severe and debilitating mental illness. Actual bona fide schizo, paranoid, with a history of psychiatric hospitalizations. 4. He believed Temple OS was the result of a revelation, and that he could use it to receive the word of God via rng. 5. Was very racist. Constantly rambling about it and throwing around slurs nonstop. 6. Refused to take his medication because it made him less productive. His parents had had enough and expelled him from home. 7. Became homeless. Apparently received a bit of support from some admirers of his work. Died hit by a train. So, yeah... before you judge the man, maybe take all this into account. Also, show me your OS.
