Something I fing funny though is how these "advancements" in airgun projectiles is following a similar path as black powder rounds. These slugs with the hollow base are reminiscent of the minie balls of the civil war, just adding a hollow point. Big bore airguns are just using essentially 45/70 bullets designed for black powder cartridges.

The thing I am most surprised about is the flat trajectory of the wound cavities. I expected those rounds to be coming down like a golf ball past 100. Those trajectories were flat as a board... out of a subsonic round? Amazing, especially at the 300 mark. You are right, the air gun industry is progressing so damned fast.

No verification of distance i feel this is bollocks you would be lucky to do that with 22lr roughly 800mm drop at 300 yards using cci stinger at 1700 fps

That's a two thousand dollar air gun. It's highly capable of that shot distance. Not bollocks at all. Them air rifles are manufactured with high quality and precision.

@@MrMagoo-no5lb Yah, I think you are right. Air guns are made for precision more than foot pounds, and FX's are made like a Swiss watch. And it isnt like Steve was hitting golf balls at three hundred(although I have seen that done before as well). I think maybe mr _Infinite Reality_ is new to air gunning. Steve is probably one of the best shooters on KZbin. I have no doubt he can hit a block of clay at three hundred yards with an FX.

Shooting slugs is a whole different science then shooting pellets. Great video. Very informative. Now we know exactly what they're capable of doing to game.... and the distances we can reach lethally. Hats off to you and your son. Pilot Mountain Airgunner these slugs, I believe, are Rat Sniper slugs or very close. The choke in the barrel compresses these slugs slightly due to the deep hollow in them. Other slugs like NSA and H&N are solid mostly except the tip. The slug forms more slender as it passes through the chokes part of the barrel and doesn’t “hang-up” or bind, so to speak. At least that’s how it was explained to me. Slug barrels don’t have any choke to them so I’m told. This all seems to get me confused because a new review on AEAC with Steve Shally shows a Hatsan Neutron Star with a choked barrel shooting slugs better than pellets??? Go figure!

I just subbed to another of your vids (with the Hatsan Piledriver...), and saw this one. HAD to watch it. I just ordered (last week) a Hatsan Sniper in .22. I was told it would arrive today, but due to politics and corruption here, I expect it to somehow vanish in the mist and I'll never see it. But here's hoping.... Great video, the only thing that would add to this is being able to see chrony numbers close the muzzle and down range at the target. With the slugs being more ballistic coefficient it should carry its velocity farther down range than the pellets which I feel sure is true, 2 crony’s would show us just how much better they are. Be nice if my Green mountain barreled Marauder liked the 25cal slugs.

Getting a kick out of your excitement Rick! A few of us have been shooting slugs for years now. We sometimes forget the excitement we all shared when first testing them. Roachcreek and his 600 pepsi challenge, Tofazfou on his channel here, Doug Noble= (Dyotat 100). I still get a kick out of testing different slugs. I applaud FX, and the efforts of Matt Dubber for working so hard to bring slugs to the air gunning world. As you said, it is changing FAST!!! That fishing line sure beats the heck out of using the Rambo Clone for cutting that clay lol. Faster, and a whole lot less mess to deal with. ;

You should have recut another small slice off the second block of clay to reveal the true path of the slug!!! Other than that I am very impressed with the performance of the ammunition you're demoing in this video!!! Beyond amazing range as well as accuracy with the airgun setup you used in this demo to say the least!!!! Thank you very much I am convinced that I am soon purchasing myself an air rifle setup as well as some of these very same slugs to dominate the destructive squirrel overpopulation problem I have on my property and in the surrounding woods here in northern VT,without a question after watching this very convincing demo so again Thank you so very much!!!! Can't believe there was complete passthrough at 300yds

Just a suggestion...make your cuts from the side closest to the PO,I rather than from the top every time...it is so much easier to bisect projectile path. Awesome demo and saves me some slugs experimenting.

Game changers for sure and out of a 22 cal. at 22 grains.I'm more than impressed! It would be greatly appreciated that if in your description of just range and grains of the caliber recording devices ect. You could Please toss in your approximate hold over at each range and what scope you were using to achieve these results also the approximate P.S.I. when you achieved your best results within each series of test shots. Most of us that are subscribed to your channel are new to the game and it would help us immensely to try and duplicate your results. Just a quick thanks if you read this and place some of this in on your next posting... :)

Superb shooting and very entertaining video. Thank you. The frame of these slugs is different to the new H&N HP, it would be interesting to see how the performance compares between them. Are you able to try the H&N when they come available? I think the FX are going to turn out to be more frangible than the H&Ns, simply from looking at their construction. Maybe you can confirm before the snow sets in!

I just got my order of FX hybrids about a week ago and did a little test of my own. I shot a quart size bottle of water @ around 20 yds, pass through every time, didn’t recover the slug. However, the exit hole didn’t indicate expansion. I’m shooting a 1st gen Impact @ around 950 FPS . Obviously the proof is in the recovery of the slug. It was effective at the same range on squirrels though. Definitely need more research. Great job Rick & Ryan.

Test them on FBI Standard ballistic gel blocks, that clay in those temperature is really tough. Great video and shooting, looking forward to more.

For longer shots with your scope put the hha optimizer between the gun and the scope . Its made for crossbows but it works great for air guns . It allows you to keep your scope optically center at 300 yards because you are tilting the scope . it allows for more accurate shots .
