If you end up trying focus stacking for your macros, I wouldn't trust the in-camera compositing. I compared the same stack composited in-camera vs with computer software (Affinity) and the software blew the camera out of the water.

I would never trust in-camera focus stacking. I use Photoshop, but I'm interested in alternative products like Heliocon. I do focus stack macros, but only on a tripod and with totally non-moving subjects.

@@JohnDrummondPhoto Fwiw, I recently tried a hand-held focus stack with the R5ii and was quite pleased with how it turned out. I did manage to brace my hand supporting the lens on the tree I was aiming at but the software handled the small amount of movement without problem. It was a stationary snail so at least I didn't have to worry about subject movement in the couple seconds it took to capture the stack. :)
