You are a great interviewer . You don’ t take the floor, you ask short questions, you don’t go on and on and on, under the cover of a question to talk about yourself, you left all the space to Byron. Katie. And i enjoyed it. Because i was listening to this to know more about her and her message. And thanks to you, i did

Is The Work a solution when my thoughts are linked to existential issues? Cosmic indifference, loss of meaning, Artificial Intelligence threads, global warming ?
@rosemoon80727 ай бұрын
Isn't depression sometimes a physiological state ?... Affected by something wrong in the body, diet, or water, or environment, toxins, medications etc .. and no amount of trying to change your thoughts will affect that depression unless you find the actual cause ... ? for example, this formula cannot make any difference to someone who is in psychosis ... so its not available to everyone unless their cognition / ego is in tact. And then there is our personal destiny ... what happened to BK was a 'gift' that happens to some people ... but not many , these realisations seem to happen more easily if you actually go deeply into something, not get caught in the STORY but the FEELING .. to really BE with it, not to try and CHANGE it by asking questions ... but to actually ALLOW exactly what is coming up to be there ... and this way the transformation happens of itself ... In fact I think all BK is doing is confusing the mind to the point people let go and FEEL ... ? so to me, its much more effective to ask questions of someone like so what does that feel like, this fear, what does it feel like to feel unvalued, abandoned, fearful .. not to dismiss the fear for example or try to change it into a different thought ...and not to INDULGE or get into the whys and wherefores etc .. how does it feel in the body .. then its like the body comes up with a solution naturally without playing with peoples minds ... because the real cause of suffering seems to be to simply SIT with what is , all the FEELINGS and sensations not the thoughts or judgements around them ...What actually happened to BK was that spontaneously fell into a moment of deep presence ... there ARE no thoughts in presence .. so shouldn't the work be about simply becoming increasingly present ? THe mind just loves another 'system' that creates more thoughts ...FEELINGS COME BEFORE THOUGHTS, SENSATIONS COME BEFORE FEELINGS ... the work still gets caught up in the thoughts and stories ... and only PRESENCE can only come through when we connect to sensation ... like the cockroach crawling over her foot ... that is why things like Somatic experiencing and focusing are so powerful whereas getting caught in stories and thoughts can just get us more stuck ? > Enquiry : I have to do BK's questions in order to become free .. is this true ....? who am i when I believe this thought ...? I am STILL the person trying to improve myself ! So its still a trap surely ... but then traps make some people very rich !!!! No WONDER shes so happy !!!!!

So, the situation is that your boss fired you. That is a fact. The situation is not good or bad; it is neutral. As Shakespeare said, “There is nothing that is good or bad, but our thoughts that make it so.” Life will always give you challenges. This is a challenge. So, you first ask yourself, can I change this challenge? If you can change it, then do so. If you can’t change it learn to accept it. You have been fired. Can you change that? Probably not. The question then is how do I accept it? It is never the challenge that is the problem, but our thoughts about it that cause the suffering. What thoughts do you CHOOSE to have about this situation? As the trite but true saying goes...it is what it is.

A cockroach? The house must have been very dirty.
@daniellelichtblau53404 жыл бұрын
It was a halfway house and she slept on the floor in the attic because the other woman were afraid of her. Apparently she was a rager and woke up one day and realized that the cockroache was nothing until she looked at it and named it and the flooded thoughts come in. However this morning she had no negative thoughts that most would have about a gross roach. Instead it was all okay and allowed. And new and fresh. If you were a baby you would play with the roach...but yes probably not the cleanest and that is also allowed in that moment. Perhaps the next day no roach

@@daniellelichtblau5340 What an awesome reply. I have often tried to understand what happened when Katy woke up, because as she says, it is hard to describe. I remember waking up once to some music place once. It was indescribably beautiful on that occasion. I have never had that same feeling. It seemed out of this world. It was also in that space of sleep and being awake. So I relate to that space. Yes, babies don"t have judgement. I know one baby who ate a cochroach off the floor. It was a very clean house. I do like how you have got in tune with Katy and her extraordinary story. She slept on the floor because she didn"t feel worthy enough to sleep on a bed. The process of asking 4 questions and turning the statements around... it is the most simple, yet powerful way to grow and find joy I have found- to end suffering. I like how you responded to someone who sounded way off track. I am learning to practise such grace.

But I don’t understand it. I ask myself the questions after I fill in the worksheet and still answer Yes to Is it true? I guess it’s obvious that I would still have that answer when all I did was write down what I felt and asked myself if it’s true.
@Noor-jw2tn4 жыл бұрын
It is only true because you (the mind)(your world) are giving it meaning. . In reality nothing has any meaning. Nothing means anything.
@HansKalben4 жыл бұрын
That's not a problem. The answer may be Yes for you. Rushing to a non-authentic "No" would undermine the entire process. If your answer is "Yes" you simply write that down and move on to the next question. If you keep doing the work, chances are that your stressful believes end up being less and less convincing. Just as long as you're willing to be open and curious. Personally I now find it impossible to ever answer the 2nd question with a "Yes". (Can you ABSOLUTELY know it's true?) I mean, how could I ever ABSOLUTELY know anything to be true? But don't worry about any of that. The questions have their own dynamic and I'd recommend to simply keep doing them with an open mind. all the best to you.
@stringybeanss4 жыл бұрын
that's fine. just finish answering the questions. How do you react when you think that thought? Who would you be without that thought? It's not really about wether or not something is true, it's about how your thoughts affect your own reality.
@barbsmart73734 жыл бұрын
@@HansKalben Yes. I think sometimes the answer changes to No with the 2nd question. It is a meditation and I guess that is why it is called "work". It takes a little time, effort and an open mind.
@barbsmart73734 жыл бұрын
I agree. If all you do is ask "Is it true?" , that definitely is as far as you would get. The good news is that there are 3 more questions- very deep and profound questions to meditate on. And just as exciting is the fact that every time we feel stressed, upset, uncomfortable, sad, judgemental, tired, bored, confused or anything, in the present or when we remember something painful from any time in our entire lives... and go through this surprisingly simple yet powerful exercise... again and again until there is very little cause of suffering. I hope you are able to get past the first question because it does change lives and ends suffering, produces compassion and could end conflict and confusion. But as Katy says, it's not for everyone.
