The way I viewed it when I lived in China where there were a lot of professional beggars, but also a lot of sincerely poor people, I tried to discern, but if I couldn't tell if they were sincerely needy, I just gave them a buck or two ALONG with the gospel. you say we need to do something for them to pull them out of the lifestyle. why not use it as a perfect opportunity to share the gospel? It's the gospel that transforms!

Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Acts 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Matthew 5:42 Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. Proverbs 22:9 Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.

The homeless are in need of socks,underwear,wet wipes,canned food, and sandwiches. But most of all Bibles for the health of their souls and well-being. It would also be loving to go in a group and have church where they are. A missionary once said "a listening ear is the best compassion of all." Peace

Matthew 25:36-40 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

We must speak out against unrighteous pastors
@andrewware19424 жыл бұрын
How is he being an unrighteousness pastor? Even Jesus & the apostles didn’t give everyone exactly what they wanted or asked but always got to the heart of the matter. Does God always give you exactly what you want every time the way you want it and when you want it? I definitely have helped my share of people but sometimes I saw where it did not help at all and went on to enabling bad habits. My own experience I’ve been at it for years. I want to genuinely help those in need but no longer have the time or money to be wasting on people who are not really willing to help themselves lead an honest life.

This pastor comes across hard & callus! What about people with mental illness? What are you gonna say to them go and get a job! Sure you have to share your food and give to the poor that’s all over the Bible to give to the poor! There’s always gonna be people that will fall through the cracks and can’t work weather they are sick disabled , Jesus said you will always have the poor with you.

I do think we should exercise discernment. there are some people who are genuinely in need because of disability or mental disorders. There are some people that are clearly faking it by standing there with weight on both feet holding crutches, or holding a gas can and a sign saying they are stranded but you see them there day in and day out. But for the ones we feel we should give to, give. let the holy Spirit guide you.

Out of the blue, a Christian friend demands $10,000 on Facebook to repair his brand new car he bought on credit which got dented. Not to fix mechanical problems, but to fix the body of the car. I spent like 5 years in the hole due to a bad career situation and $10,000 could have drastically changed a lot of that.

So, what if this person is spreading the gospel and has forsaken ALL? Now living off of what the Lord provides. Jesus was homeless. It is judgemental to say the person is there because of bad choices. much love brothers and sisters Jesus Christ is King

I'm surprised They didn't bring up the book of acts, when the beggar asked for gold or silver, and the apostle didn't give money he said he only has Jesus Christ to give "in context" because he made him walk . So by example , we don't give money to homeless to keep and ongoing addiction or cycle they most likely are in, but give them JESUS CHRIST.
@Arp4773 жыл бұрын
Hmm... After reading the comments, I haven't watched the video. Yikes! Maybe redo this video after talking with several homeless people, visiting shelters (and see if/how the homeless must pay $6 or $7 a night to stay (so, they may need our money, or we can pre-purchase vouchers to hand out)? Reader: We can always carry water bottles and little snack foods, fruit, or fast food gift cards to hand out. These days, it appears that many shelters are full -- where would you stay, what would you eat and drink, and where would you go to the bathroom and shower if you were in this situation? Our housing is a blessing!!! We need to stay humble. Yes, use discernment, but also love.

Being in someone else's shoes makes one less ignorant. Many people have lived sheltered lives and are ignorant of what is going on in someone else's life. I've seen this on all subjects. Being led by the Holy Spirit and having insight through experience God can use people to minister to those that are hurting. Jesus holds up the Good Samaritan story as an example. He never said for us to judge whether someone is worthy of our love. But to love our neighbor as ourself. There's too great a need and too little love in this world. Dear LORD, help us not to be stingy and love as you have loved. We can't do it without you! In Jesus Holy Name we pray. Amen.

Brother over a lot of comments on here and they seem to be disagreeing with you. Now I am a female and it is not my job to reproach you but I am allowed to disagree with you and I could not disagree with you more. It is not up to us to judge anyone that we give money to. I do partially understand your point. But I will give money to people on corners to homeless, it is not my decision to judge how they came to be there. I do have some biblical tricks that I will be giving out to the homeless with money that is not going to be dependent on whether I do give the money. So many people have quoted scripture on here. Brother, again I’m not here to reproach you but I also think there is nothing wrong with giving sandwiches, anyway I can understand why some people do that, clothing etc. Well I think I’m just really surprised at this one. But God Bless you

I agree. There's poor and there's persistent rebellion. If sympathetic folks fed the prodigal son, he never would have returned to his father. Feeding him would enable his rebellion and delay making a real change. It's called enabling. The longer a person stays that way the more likely they will get used to it. I knew a woman whose brother was homeless for years. I said "why didn't you help him?. She said he doesn't want to be helped. That's his lifestyle. He didn't want it any other way. Same with wayward young people, kids of Christian parents, who had every opportunity to succeed in life but they chose to use drugs, dishonor their parents, don't want to study or work, or even just plain stay out of trouble.
@maudernart52463 жыл бұрын
Giving someone food or clothes or hygiene products or even a couple of bucks is not "enabling" them. You're giving them a chance to live to see another day and potentially make good, healthy choices. If someone is homeless that's already rock bottom, and only 1/3 to 1/2 of homeless actually have substance abuse disorder so the "they're just going to buy drugs" excuse is BS at minimum 50% of the time. Many homeless drug users became users AFTER becoming homeless as a way to deal with living on the streets, can you really blame them? Pretty sure Jesus would hate this clown 🤡
