I bought a Les Paul custom in 1978 that was my pride and joy. $750 back then. Had to sell it to the local guitar store to afford some food in a tough economy. In my sixties now and wish that baby would come home. What a treat to have your Dads SG. Never part with her.

Your dad gifted it to you with the intent that you would play it. The best thing you can do is honor him by playing it.

Because it’s Dads guitar I would keep it safe but use it if it’s well looked after! Make sure you lemon oil the fretboard so it doesn’t crack!

Keep it in the case, NEVER set it on a stand. My Les Paul Standard fell over on a stand and splintered the head stock. Took me years to buy. I'm still heartbroken

Keep it at Mums. You take it home? Someone sits on it. You get robbed, by someone you know, who you just showed that guitar too. People suck sometimes. Happened to me with six string acoustic and a 12 string electric sunburst. Keep it at Mums.
