You are so meticulous in the way you treat others property and explaining what you are doing and why that I that you fall into the category of art in motion!! Good looking rig, I wish we would have had the technology that i see in you rig back then. Hi Ron, First off just want you to know... I wait for a new upload from you like I am waiting to find out I won the lottery!....😉 I so much enjoy how you deal with the public and I learn so much on how to recover a vehicle safely. I forget that your a first responder and you deal with the tragedies of life on daily basis. That story how you told that gentleman about the little girl you were looking for brought me to tears it made me remember that the job that you do is not all just about the process of recovering a stuck/disabled vehicles. Long ago I was one the front lines many many moons (30+ years ago now). The part that I had forgotten was the emotions of being a (F. R.) and the things you see and have to deal with almost daily. I would like to just say Thank you.....I pray no one in my family ever needs those kinds of services, but knowing that there are hundreds of people like yourself willing to take on such a responsibility and personal burden is a great comfort. I hope and pray for all First Responders! God only knows what this world would be like, if we didn't have people like yourself willing to take care of the rest of us! You and your family are in my prayers and I hope and pray God Blesses you especially during the Holiday Season! I pray you and yours have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! And most importantly Thank You! P.S. None of us are perfect and the good Lord surely only asks us to be the best we can and only to strive for perfection because God knows that is an impossibility for us humans to be perfect. Take care my friend and please do your best to stay safe!
@RonPratt7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for such a kind and thoughtful comment on here. There are scenes we work that really stick into the heart and soul. The one I spoke of haunts me still even though the little girl wasn't in the crash. It is not easy to let the heart guide you in many instances....it is often too painful to empathize with what others are experiencing. I have often been referred to as an emotional person and I do tear up....sometimes often. I try my best to connect with and treat others as I would wish to be treated if in the same situation. I cannot imagine what many are feeling when the families are notified of the accidents. I use my experiences to deepen my understanding that life is short and nothing should ever be taken for granted. Play with your kids, never leave without an "I love you," and never forget to be thankful for the blessings in your life. One moment can change your whole world and you have to be ready. I don't have all the secrets to a perfect life and don't pretend to. I do recognize that I live a blessed life and need to live it gratefully. Thank you for your understanding and empathy for the job and the experiences it holds as you have had them as well. May your days be blessed ones and God be with you friend. Thank you.

Watch a show called "Highway Through Hell" on the Weather Channel, this is a show about a Canadian towing/recovery company up in the Canadian Rockies that has a Western Star version of Ron's Rotator, only its a little longer as this rig has a sleeper on it, and when wrecks happen up in the Canadian Rockies, all the truckers know how to do is complain that they are not moving, due to said wreck on the road
@dalelc436 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough people other than Ron do actually know stuff, he didn't just make it all up himself. I guarantee people know about the same things you know about. Commenting on youtube somehow disqualifies you from knowledge. So if Ron should comment on a towing video, everybody would automatically assume he doesn't know what he is talking about. Moral of the story, don't assume anything and don't laugh at people, safe in the knowledge you don't have.

Has anyone else seen "Wrecked?" One episode showed the veteran heavy duty operator "Tryke" explaining and then demonstrating to the younger rollback driver that the recovery could be done with the rollback and they didn't need his boom wrecker. Very educational. I know that show had a lot of "BS," but there were good parts.

Of course, no matter how great the tool is, it's useless without a good operator. That's why we like to watch Ron.

I was very surprised by the versatility of rollbacks. Here in germany most wreckers use lift flatbet trucks for accident recovery. A rollback is mostly used to pick up broken down cars but rarely anything which isn't capable of rolling.
@michaelhernann31495 жыл бұрын
Rollbacks are the backbone of most wrecker companies.. we have five ranging from '92 up to '15.. had a wheel lift truck with an extendable boom it came in handy for certain situations unfortunately it came to it's demise within a short time may it rest in pieces lol. But I love my rollbacks. P.s. love your channel Mr. Pratt I've actually learned a few things from u.. good luck and good bless

The good ole 1992 F-150, with Twin Traction Beam front suspension (junk), which is why it broke. @34:17 I see Tinkerbell floor mats (I bought my wife a set, several years ago). So... Boyfriend/Girlfriend (and friends), are all out having a good time, Boyfriend is driving Girlfriend's truck, and says: "I bet you ain't ever done this with your Ford"; then proceeds to break Girlfriend's front axle etc... She needs to find a new boyfriend! Reckon? :) Great video Ron! Oh, and I totally dig the Don McLean reference.

Thanks again Ron for a good commentary on this recovery, good to see some old timers taking an interest in your work. Never mind those who try to tell you how it should b done, you are the one with the boots on the ground, we all can say that someone should have done it this way or another. All the best wish's Ron, and may you and your family have special time as we remember the birth Of Our Lord and Saviour, at this time, and his saving Grace. God Bless you all.

I will have to call her this week and check on the progress. It has been super busy around the shop and I just haven't done it yet. I will try to capture her driving in her repaired/revived/refreshed and resurrected Taurus. God bless and thanks for watching.

We have to be respectful of her privacy - she didn't ask to be turned into an Internet celebrity! It would be enough for Ron to tell us she's doing okay.

Started on an Holm's 440 twin boom in 68 in Maine finished on a 650ton DeMag crane Dec.19 in Fla. Most don't understand the responsibility matrix that comes with the job the details checked , the duties performed , the knowledge gained , applied ,documented and shared. Information from job experience , like when you tightened the shackle bolt an you said tight and then back a quarter or half turn , I know why you do that but I would like to see you talk more about the Why in what you do, how do you form a lift plan and again Why . Talk on the ride out about the things you have to do, the checks you make , The things you inspect and maintain , All the stuff you do by remote control and you have done it so long that it's just part of you and what you do. Like the walk around inspection or checking fluid level , knowing what a guage is supposed to read basically the endless list of responsibilities that come with a CDL ,and/ or CCO

It is a play on the lyrics from an classic old song, "American Pie." I think MOST vehicles would have gotten stuck where this one did. I was just attempting to interject a bit of humor by using the lyrics. NO offense intended. God bless.

There was no extra charge for the conversations LOL. He was a nice gentleman and as long as no safety was compromised, it was all good. I wouldn't want to disrespect the guy. He had some questions, offered some commentary and in the end.....we all left with a smile. If they got too close, they were respectful when I asked them to back up or move out of harms way. We will all hopefully get to the age where we have time on our hands and sometimes a short conversations makes a day go by easier. God bless and thank you for watching.

wish there were more respectful tow truck drivers out there like yourself. Usually, I get a disrespectful comment from the drivers as to I'm "in the way". Thanks for being respectful to us OG's. God Bless you also. You are a rare breed. Came on to your channel in error.

If someone was running a training course for recovery drivers, they could use your videos Ron. It's great that you show exactly what you do, and explain the reason and logic behind it. Thumbs up and subscribed. I find it amusing that you have over 2 thousand thumbs up, while 37 armchair quarterbacks gave a thumbs down. Ignore them.

Hey Ron, Love the channel. Very satisfying seeing a job well done day in and day out. I am attaching my request to this video because as you were dragging to the truck you said that winch needed respooled.. can you make a video.."behind the scenes" respooling and the benefits along with what kind of upkeep and hard work you put into the cleanup and resetting after a major call of your fleet to keep them as pride fully professional as you do.
