Awesome job there Mr. Pratt, was that the frame where you picked it up at underneath and also people need to realize that if you damage something yourself on any vehicle that you're going to tow whether it's a old vehicle or newer vehicle you have to pay for it so its best to take an extra few mins and do right and be safe

Watch a show called "Highway Through Hell" on the Weather Channel, this is a show about a Canadian towing/recovery company up in the Canadian Rockies that has a Western Star version of Ron's Rotator, only its a little longer as this rig has a sleeper on it, and when wrecks happen up in the Canadian Rockies, all the truckers know how to do is complain that they are not moving, due to said wreck on the road
@dalelc436 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough people other than Ron do actually know stuff, he didn't just make it all up himself. I guarantee people know about the same things you know about. Commenting on youtube somehow disqualifies you from knowledge. So if Ron should comment on a towing video, everybody would automatically assume he doesn't know what he is talking about. Moral of the story, don't assume anything and don't laugh at people, safe in the knowledge you don't have.

Has anyone else seen "Wrecked?" One episode showed the veteran heavy duty operator "Tryke" explaining and then demonstrating to the younger rollback driver that the recovery could be done with the rollback and they didn't need his boom wrecker. Very educational. I know that show had a lot of "BS," but there were good parts.
@excavatoree6 жыл бұрын
Of course, no matter how great the tool is, it's useless without a good operator. That's why we like to watch Ron.

I was very surprised by the versatility of rollbacks. Here in germany most wreckers use lift flatbet trucks for accident recovery. A rollback is mostly used to pick up broken down cars but rarely anything which isn't capable of rolling.
@michaelhernann31495 жыл бұрын
Rollbacks are the backbone of most wrecker companies.. we have five ranging from '92 up to '15.. had a wheel lift truck with an extendable boom it came in handy for certain situations unfortunately it came to it's demise within a short time may it rest in pieces lol. But I love my rollbacks. P.s. love your channel Mr. Pratt I've actually learned a few things from u.. good luck and good bless

Good looking rig, I wish we would have had the technology that i see in you rig back then. Hi! Did I interpret you correctly; those light bars are radio controlled, probably paired to the recovery truck, and programmed to reproduce the truck's brake and indicator lights? Would be nice to learn how those work in one of your next videos. …and what if you want, or need, to reverse? That seems unlikely, and regardless of the light bars; would you even attempt reversing? …with such a "small" load? …how about a bigger rigger?

Boyfriend/Girlfriend (and friends), are all out having a good time, Boyfriend is driving Girlfriend's truck, and says: "I bet you ain't ever done this with your Ford"; then proceeds to break Girlfriend's front axle etc... She needs to find a new boyfriend! Reckon? :) Great video Ron! Oh, and I totally dig the Don McLean reference.

Hi Ron, First off just want you to know... I wait for a new upload from you like I am waiting to find out I won the lottery!....😉 I so much enjoy how you deal with the public and I learn so much on how to recover a vehicle safely. I forget that your a first responder and you deal with the tragedies of life on daily basis. That story how you told that gentleman about the little girl you were looking for brought me to tears it made me remember that the job that you do is not all just about the process of recovering a stuck/disabled vehicles. Long ago I was one the front lines many many moons (30+ years ago now). The part that I had forgotten was the emotions of being a (F. R.) and the things you see and have to deal with almost daily. I would like to just say Thank you.....I pray no one in my family ever needs those kinds of services, but knowing that there are hundreds of people like yourself willing to take on such a responsibility and personal burden is a great comfort. I hope and pray for all First Responders! God only knows what this world would be like, if we didn't have people like yourself willing to take care of the rest of us! You and your family are in my prayers and I hope and pray God Blesses you especially during the Holiday Season! I pray you and yours have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! And most importantly Thank You! P.S. None of us are perfect and the good Lord surely only asks us to be the best we can and only to strive for perfection because God knows that is an impossibility for us humans to be perfect. Take care my friend and please do your best to stay safe!
@RonPratt6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for such a kind and thoughtful comment on here. There are scenes we work that really stick into the heart and soul. The one I spoke of haunts me still even though the little girl wasn't in the crash. It is not easy to let the heart guide you in many instances....it is often too painful to empathize with what others are experiencing. I have often been referred to as an emotional person and I do tear up....sometimes often. I try my best to connect with and treat others as I would wish to be treated if in the same situation. I cannot imagine what many are feeling when the families are notified of the accidents. I use my experiences to deepen my understanding that life is short and nothing should ever be taken for granted. Play with your kids, never leave without an "I love you," and never forget to be thankful for the blessings in your life. One moment can change your whole world and you have to be ready. I don't have all the secrets to a perfect life and don't pretend to. I do recognize that I live a blessed life and need to live it gratefully. Thank you for your understanding and empathy for the job and the experiences it holds as you have had them as well. May your days be blessed ones and God be with you friend. Thank you.

Hey Ron, Love the channel. Very satisfying seeing a job well done day in and day out. I am attaching my request to this video because as you were dragging to the truck you said that winch needed respooled.. can you make a video.."behind the scenes" respooling and the benefits along with what kind of upkeep and hard work you put into the cleanup and resetting after a major call of your fleet to keep them as pride fully professional as you do.

Hey Ron, this video got me surprised and crying. The reason is that the man you have in your video who is bald headed with Sun glasses on looks alot like my uncle Mark, who has past away 3 years ago. My heart has stopped when he came walking up closer to you. I had to take a couple of pictures of the guy and sent it to one of my aunt, who is the sister of my uncle Mark. She thought that it was really her brother in the picture. I want to thank you especially for this video. I am going to record this episode of your video if you don't mind. I will show it to my rest of the family when I get a chance to. God Bless You very much Ron. May God Be with you and keep you safe, in Jesus Name I pray, amen.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Uncle. I know those losses never really stop hurting. I am glad you liked the video and by all means, share it with your family. I appreciate your comments and prayers for safety. God bless and keep you and heal your broken hearts.

That is the recovery that probably sticks with me the most. I am haunted by the "what ifs" and so grateful the little one was safe. I couldn't imagine if things had gone another direction. God is great! God bless and thank you for watching.

As someone who drove a wrecker in the 80s, I love your attention to detail, your attitude of not damaging the vehicle further, and I will say that wireless remotes for your winches is only something we dreamed of back then. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching your videos.

There was no extra charge for the conversations LOL. He was a nice gentleman and as long as no safety was compromised, it was all good. I wouldn't want to disrespect the guy. He had some questions, offered some commentary and in the end.....we all left with a smile. If they got too close, they were respectful when I asked them to back up or move out of harms way. We will all hopefully get to the age where we have time on our hands and sometimes a short conversations makes a day go by easier. God bless and thank you for watching.

wish there were more respectful tow truck drivers out there like yourself. Usually, I get a disrespectful comment from the drivers as to I'm "in the way". Thanks for being respectful to us OG's. God Bless you also. You are a rare breed. Came on to your channel in error.

Yeah My grandpa when he passed away I got his 1996 f150 and I would hate to see anything happen to it even though it was a farm truck and it's already got a lot of dents and rust The emotional attachment is strong with that old truck

It sure can be. Every dent usually has a story as Mater says. God bless.

Obviously, the levee wasn't dry. A little "useless" trivia on the song your title reference: In "American Pie", the "Levee" was the name of a bar that he frequented, and the statement about it being "dry" refers to it being closed. So he drives to a town called "Rye" (the area Don McLean actually grew up in just outside of the NYC metropolitan area) where he found a bar open - as indicated by the "good 'ol boys drinking whiskey". This line is commonly misheard as "drinking whiskey AND rye", but since rye is a whiskey, it makes no sense. The actual line is "drinking whiskey IN Rye" (the town). Now you know something you probably never cared to know.

Started on an Holm's 440 twin boom in 68 in Maine finished on a 650ton DeMag crane Dec.19 in Fla. Most don't understand the responsibility matrix that comes with the job the details checked , the duties performed , the knowledge gained , applied ,documented and shared. Information from job experience , like when you tightened the shackle bolt an you said tight and then back a quarter or half turn , I know why you do that but I would like to see you talk more about the Why in what you do, how do you form a lift plan and again Why . Talk on the ride out about the things you have to do, the checks you make , The things you inspect and maintain , All the stuff you do by remote control and you have done it so long that it's just part of you and what you do. Like the walk around inspection or checking fluid level , knowing what a guage is supposed to read basically the endless list of responsibilities that come with a CDL ,and/ or CCO

Treat every vehicle as if it were your own, because one day, it just might be, and you would hope that, that tow truck driver respected your vehicle the way you respect everyone else's............even if it is a 20 year old F150 swamp edition.

Apparently Ford needs to change their name now...Found on road dead, has now become found on levee dead. Fold. On a funny side note, my beloved old '91 Bronco literally WAS found on road dead. Bought her from a buddy, she was parked on the street in front his house broken down, I had to tow her home and spent a month or so fixing her up. Even funnier side note, that was literally the newest vehicle I've ever owned, except for the '96 Chevy my ex-wife and I owned, but she bought it before we married. Most of my vehicles were '80's models I fixed up.

That story with the kid had my heart in my throat until you said she was ok. Been in the same postition being first on scene b4 all EMS and hearing it on the scanner and it being around the corner from home in a regional area. I dont like crashes with kids or animals involved but its a job that needs to be done. Stay stafe from a tow brother from down under.

Hot tip .. when you're winching uphill, always stay in FRONT of the door, in this case, steer thru the window ... if something where to come loose, the door would scoop you up like a turd in the cat box!!

Hey Ron, another great video! I always enjoy watching you work, and seeing how respectful you are towards law enforcement and the public in general. Good manners are becoming obsolete and treating other people’s property with respect is a thing of the past. But I know I can always expect, and enjoy, a clean video experience from you, complete with respect towards others, treating others property like your own, and of course, clean language! Thank you so much for another job well done and for sharing your video. God Speed.
