I'm glad to see somebody focus more heavily on the gunplay aspects of the tiger II airframe, I also agree that the F-5 does not work well as a bomber, though I fly the F-5E instead of the C I think this review is fairly accurate to the aircrafts strengths and weaknesses.

It's probably best plane to buy in the entire game. It will teach you every aspect aside from radar missiles (which to be honest I enjoy games in F5 way more than F16). You have crap missiles, so it will force you to learn to use them effectively. You got enough Ammo to practise aim - (after real shatter fix you will be empty just because you can't aim not because every enemy eats 250rounds before going down). Plus you can grind almost entire american tech tree with it. And it goes quick.

I first got into higher tier jet gameplay when I bought the F-5C. It was a fairly steep learning curve, and I was representative of your average F-5C player for awhile there. It did end up actually making me a better player, as I learned a lot playing the F-5C. Now I primarily like to fly the F-5E, but I do come back to the C now and again, especially if I want SL. Still a fantastic gunfighter that holds it's own pretty well.

as one who recently got back into the game and having to start from scratch to get back to jets the f5c was a good reminder of how to play and really helps one to learn more basic but crucial elements of jet gameplay. the br it works with is also a prime learning ground overall with many players also being new to upper tier jets and is not as punishing for mistakes whereas the br of the f4s is demanding to attention, awareness and overall the br is complete chaos where games are decided in the first few minutes

I a f5c player got it when i was lvl 20 and my highest plane was 4.7. I was horrible at jets but i learned and grinded and i now can use the f5c without leaving much on the table, one of the first things you learn is dont even think about bombing bases like you said it in a omber role is useless. The only time u can bomb with succes is in ground rb and use 500s and 1ks but still it doesn't do the best at that. I think you described this plane perfectly and to keep creating these types of videos

as and F5-C player i think thats spot on. at the time i bought it, the f4s wasnt a thing. in retro i think getting the f4s and then playing the F5-E alot is the better route gives you the best of both worlds introduction

Course, it wasnt that long ago that the f5e was at 11.0 instead and thus had mostly uptiers. It was still playable if you knew what you were doing, but constantly fighting top tiers made you feel very under-armed with only the 2 aim9 and everyone being able to just run away from you. The 10.7 matchmaker is super good for making that thing funner to play.

I think this review overall was really great for a first attempt! The main thing is not spreading mis-information so you're already miles ahead of other influencers. I just have two personal critiques that you probably can ignore. 1. Maybe turn the music volume down just a tad? 2. Avoid repeating a "Is the (insert plane here) right for you?" section because the answer almost always will be "It depends". I would just redirect focus to "Does the plane perform well". Otherwise, love the conciseness and general approach you have taken!

DONT BOMBin this plane. But if you really want too, use one 2000lb on the center line and put 2 incendiaries on the wings. This is the lightest bomb load to kill one base.

good review. bought the f4s, grinded the us tree with it. got the f14b, its vvery simple to get good results with the f14b after 9xx Matches with the f4s. The f16 is really bad after this journey. spaded the f5e and tech a10 and got the "skills" you mentioned later, because the few moments they are needed in high tier are zero to none. i think the f5c is the more fun way, the f4s the more steady way. good video, greets from germoney wallet warrior!

The f4s may be a better grinder with the ability to research higher ranks but I still think that the f5c is one of THE MOST fun planes in the game, and the US winrates at at its br are pretty damn high because of the su25s and plus most of the games being 9.7-10.7 allows you to pick off a lot of premium planes and bots for free kills. The guns are pretty good with somewhat of a high velocity that allows for easy aim, also having 500 rounds of ammo is very useful for getting high kill games or learning the guns.

I played like 40 games with it ever since buying it. At first I tried using missiles (surprise surprise, they were shit), then started dogfighting and that's where this thing shines, most planes cannot keep up with you and if you have enough experience you'll just land your shots and take down your enemies

Its an interesting little plane and very good for the br esp bcz u have insane energy retention above 1000kmh and can dogfight 2 to 3 people at once so, yeah should consider imo

As someone who went from 4.3 BR in ARB to buying an F-5C, the best criticism/endorsement I can give of the F-5C is that it effectively ruined every US jet for me that I unlocked with it. It’s fighter performance was so good that picking up the F-4E, F-8E and AV-8C felt awkward compared to the effortless control of the F-5C. Of course this was before planes like the F-14 was added and I had yet to find out how nice the SMT and MLD are to fly, but the F-5C is still one of the most enjoyable planes to fly in the game.

the f-5c performs well in downtiers but fighting mig-21/3's is like flying a slightly faster saber because if they know that they don't need to dogfight you because of your lack luster missiles they can just boom and zoom you while you essentially have no counterplay

This is what I'm using to grind the event. Go into SIM and take out AI Attackers, bombers, surveillance and any named AI fighters. Go from 0 to 40k points in just under 2 hours. Sometimes under 1 hour.

I don't have the F-5C myself, but a few of my friends do. They were struggling to grind and asked for some help. So I played around with the aircraft for a while, already being familiar with the F-5E. I can confidently say that experienced players flying this in a downtier are TYRANTS of the furball. Fantastic instant agility with equally fantastic control surface authority at virtually every speed. Great guns and serviceable missiles. Great high speed retention allows you to pick and choose your fights plenty of times when you get into the mix. The only aircraft for the BR I'd say truly outclasses it would be the F-8E on grounds of missile armament, even if it is a bit quirkier. Perhaps the Mig-21MF/SMT as well, but I find their sustained fight ability lacking.

I also do not commonly use all my possible agility as once, feathering my keyboard inputs to preserve energy. Depending on energy state, I may elect to take a shallower climb angle in an ellipse. If my opponent continues to follow me around this path, they will be the ones to run out of energy first, and therefore, options.

I suck an gunplay in jets tbh and really can't get a feeling for it. I was surprised to see, that my most successful plane in that BR bracket and in WT overall was the F-4C Phantom II when it comes to air combat and CAS. But for a grinder, I mostly don't really like most premium options, esp. Considering the weapon and missile options.

I bought the F5C after staring down the grind after the F86A5, this is by far the best premium to purchase for high tier imo. Essentially you get an extremely nimble light fighter with very forgiving guns and introductory, easy-to-use missiles. The only drawback, like mentioned in the video is weak engines, but they are quite good at high speeds, it will teach you to maintain speed (more important than altitude compared to props) and how to maneuver without pooping out all your speed. A great jet to introduce yourself to flying capable jet aircraft while not being too hand holding. The only people who should buy the F4S instead for the US are people who only want to play top tier and sling missiles, if you like gunfighting get the f5c. Don't bomb in it though.

Very fair, its pretty much the same thing I used the F4J for. Radar missiles are tough for newer players to grasp though, thats why I think the F5C is the best for a newer player to pick the F5C. IR missiles are pretty damned easy to use. And like mentioned in the video, its top tier all day, the F4S simply isn't competitive against f16s and mig29s. @@somaticapollo6025

Got it today, and honestly I popped off. Yes that speed sucks, so make custom sets and bring maybe a bit less bombs, or even just missiles. The cannons do tend to shred, and ofcourse theres the free 2k GE and 15d premium time. So yeah, I deff recommend. But the RWR (radar warning system) kinda sucks.

I have several 6 kill games and two 7 kills games in the F5c too, without going back for ammo or fuel, it's litterally the best loiter plane too. The trigger time is amazing aswell. And you only need a short burst too!!

I am an absolutely horrid jet gunfighter. Never get the initial defection right and energy fighting instincts leave no time to walk it on. That said, i still tend to have a good time dueling in the F5C, as i can usually abuse its flight performance to bleed an opponent to the point he either stalls, providing a gun target even I can hit, or tries to accelerate away in a straight line the AIM9E can track. And while a full bombload (~50% of the plane's own weight) should never be taken by anyone who values winning over base kills, I find it can still handle alright with targetted CAS loads like the single Mark84, twin zuni pods, half load of bullpups,etc. for those times I wanna do a bit of farming. F4S is better at multirole, but its nice F5C can fill the role when budget/lineup BR asks.

The F-5C is very beginner unfriendly, I recommend the F-4S since all you need to do is just figure out the radar and how to launch radar missiles properly.

I was lvl 7 when I bought the f5c and I must admit, it wasn't easy. You could die to a MiG-21 and a lot of others, but for me, by watching more outubers i learnt how to pay attention, shoot and reverse people, always my best choice.

I think the F5 needs a nerf to the cannons damage and the speed to be buffed, as someone who uses it frequently i can easily pull off 4+ kill matches and it is just unfair to the enemies that people can just pay for one of if not the best jet in its tier.

F-5C seems broken for me. No matter what I do in a match, I don't seem to get more than 6-7k RP at most. This is less than I get with many tech tree planes. Then I go play an aircraft with a talisman and I'm suddenly getting +10k per game. Having to play close to 100 battles to unlock rank 6/7 planes on a premium plane is just dumb.

imo its simple if you only want/care for top tier jets and need to learn its playstyle and grind, then the f4S is for you. if you want a fun plane dogfight not missile fights that can grind... well still everything just not as fast. Then the F-5c is for you. Personally as someone who grinded USA and Japan air all the way. The F-5c is fun jet and way better choice. f-16,Mig-29 and both F-14s now will Absolutely slap you around the second you merge. assuming both equal skill level in F-4s. and that's 90% of teams you face right now. Plus its still possible to ignore BVR and get in close so grind better and die a lot or have fun but grind less... choice is yours

The bonuses are absolutely ridiculous... I have like 30 kills with it and 80 deaths, and it still has the most RP/SL gained of any aircraft in my service record.. Even other Premiums that I have a positive K/D in.. Just absurd.. Even losing you gain more than you do winning in other aircraft.. Yeah I know my K/D in the F5C is laughable and joke-worthy, but I just don't like the thing and refuse to learn it properly because it would require changing my entire playstyle and then I would end up struggling with aircraft I am actually good with but fly and use different tactics to the 5C

The information about F-5C being rank 6 and unable to research top tiers will not be relevant. Because Gaijin is making it a rank 7 premium with higher price. So it would be better to think twice, what you need: F-5C or F-4S.

The F-5 should not have been a pack premium. It is just TOO technical of a plane to use, and too many new players or jet newbies grab it. I'll admit I was part of the problem, as I bought an F-5C a while ago on a holiday sale. After nearly 600 battles in it, I know it pretty well and do decently in it. Did it make me a better top tier jet fighter, due to being thrown right into the fire? Sure. After realizing my mistake I was determined to make it work. Was that an efficient way to learn top tier jets? Hell no.

It depends on how experienced you are, if you akready have jets (10.0; above) go for it as it's a very forgiving plane that will help you learn early missiles and how to use flares, id say bare minimum "requirements" to buy it are tier 6, and lvl 35+

the F-5C is no longer able to troll bomb people mid air and go back to repair but it still is as busted as before performance wise. F-5E has much more engine power but feels less agile even despite having leading edge extensions. Still, my favorite busted mobile will always be the MiG19S.
