I agree with you. Too much power for an inexperienced rider. There’s always gonna be people who say “I started on a 600 and I did fine”. Good for you, but that’s one person’s experience. Just compare what you pay for insurance on your R3 versus what you pay for the ZX-6R. It’s probably something like 10X more.

The 650 is a nice bike, but the top end was lacking, I didn't like the upright position, hated the 2 cylinder putter sound sound, I would have quit riding if I didn't get this bike. I do agree that its not a beginner bike for most, self control is the big issue, I haven't even pushed into the bikes power band yet, I know my ability and limitations and still have a lot to learn. Also im 5'5" and have no issues.

First road bike I ever bought was a 2020 z400 and I feel the exact same waywith everything you just said, although it's a great starter bike especially for shorter riders it didn't take me long to get bored of it, I wished I would've went with the z650 to start with but the 400 got me used to the weight and balance of a street bike, and was a little better fit anyways next move is probably to get a zx6r, I just want something with a more bite and bark to it, although with the can I have on my 400 sounds and runs good for what it is I want the sound and power of an inline engine. Ive learned how self control is a big factor in advancing your riding capabilities, if your getting a bigger faster bike you gotta learn to ride with due respect to that motorcycle, don't be that guy that says "yeah I did 150 on my buddies cbr600 (never actually has ridden a motorcycle at all) once, I can handle getting one" and then go get one to have for a month before yeeting yourself into oblivion on it. Everything in this video is completely wrong! It doesn't matter what bike is your first bike, it's all about discipline and throttle control and knowing your clutch. that's it. i'm 50 years old, been riding motorcycles since my teenage years and my first bike was a liter bike. it was given to me for free since the original owner couldn't take it with him overseas and i had a fantastic time learning how to ride. most times when you let out the clutch the bike will move itself and it's a great way to learn how to go slow with just the clutch alone. as for the throttle, it was very sensitive so it was all about how much power you really need and just give the throttle just a pinch and your good. as far as the power of the bike, yeah it was powerful enough where i didn't even take it out of first gear because i was already doing 80 on the freeway and i was only in first gear so that really helped with stop and go traffic where i didn't have to keep switching gears all the time. as for my height i'm 5'6 and my feet never touched the ground! there was a good 1 inch of space between me and the ground but you're not spending all your time standing with the bike, you're riding the bike. i have friends shorter than me like 5'2 and 5'3 and they riding Yamahara R1's as their first bikes. my bike did eventually broke down because it was so old and i got a yahama r6 and was that better? NO!! more sensitive throttle, still can't touch the ground and the bike feels faster than my old liter bike but i'm disciple enough to respect the bike, respect the speed, respect the law and other drivers around you. that's all it is. ride any bike you want, just know and understand the bike like you would a girlfriend or wife!! Ride safe!!!

I remember you crashing your original ZX-6R, and that was such a shame; the 2021 models looked great in your white and also my teal color scheme. I grew up riding friends and family's four wheelers. Got my '03 CRF150f in 2002, and bought a used, but heavily modified and bored out '03 CRF450R two years later. I rode the shit out of them, never having any serious dumps. In 2008, I bought a repo'd '07 ZZR600 (same exact bike as '00-'02 ZX-6R; a reprint if you will). I rode the shit out of it for years. It had many dings and scratches and problems when I was done with it at nearly 60,000mi. Again, none my small scrapes were serious on it. It had gearbox issues late in its life and I sold it in 2018. Missed riding so much, I bought my 2021 ZX-6R. Fuck ABS; I don't want or need it, but I totally understand why it's a good decision for you. Back to the bike: I love mine. 2000mi on it and no issues. It's definitely less ergonomic than my old ZZR though. I agree that new riders shouldn't start on a new ZX-6R. The throttle really is twitchy; it has a pronounced "digital" feel to it with an obnoxious throttle cut at low twist. That thing really is kinda jumpy, but that's all because of the electronic fuel injection programming. I miss old carbureted bikes with their analog throttle response, but I don't miss cold weather starting. I can definitely see how you wrecked your bike.

My second bike was a 1500 Vulcan a huge and heavy bike with alot of torque.. it was a beast... I had rode many bikes in between the last 22 tears since i taught myself at age 18 on the first bike i owned the 450 nighthawk, before that i had never riden a bike except one time for a few minutes it was a dirt bike but i didnt understand how to change gears , braking, turning, ect i bought a 2019 ZX6R a few months ago and have put over 4,000 mile on it minus the week i was on vacation... last week i was playing in the rain and sliding the back tire and it got away from me and i layed it down... it didnt hurt anything but a couplke scuffs and a quarter sise scuff on the brake side of the tank... i didnt have frame sliders at that point but now i do along with an Ohlins streering damper and the damper makes all the difference!!! im ok from the accident just hurt my pride and took the prestine away from the brand newness of the bike... it was actually fun and i think my friends i ride with are more distressed about the scuffed fairing and small scuff on the tank, brake side... ride safe to all thge motorcycle enthusiast!!! i would also not suggest the ZX6R as a first buke either... it could be ok to a really responsiuble rider bgut probably would more likely be a bad idea.. its very powerful and the throttle is super sensitive like you mentioned even in low power mode... but the ZX6R is by far the nicest motorcycle i have ever rode or especially owned.. Amazing machine and every time i get comfortable i get woken up with an oh shit moment,,, so stay respectful of the motrorcyle no matter the size or power.. peace

I bought this bike as my first bike never written in my life other than one day on a cbr999 for 2 hours absolutely love it you can set it in low power mode brings it down to 60% Bike has all your safety features in the bike is easy to ride and get used to the throttle. But that’s me I would probably suggest a 450 for most people but I’m doing fine on it doing better than fine on it for the first bike I’ve ever had. The first bike I’ve ever ridden was a CBR 999 and I did fine on that too so I guess it’s all up to the person ability to tolerate the bike I guess and the power

I’ve been riding a grom for about a year and I’m more than ready for an upgrade. For me it’s between a ninja 400 and the 636. I’ve gotten pretty good on the grom (as good as you can do for a bike so small) and I don’t want another bike that I’m just gonna end up growing out of in a few months like I did with the grom. The reason I’m not 100% about just buying the 636 is that my throttle control is probably not as good as it should be due to constantly being full throttle on my 8hp grom. If someone could give my some advice as to which to go for it would be much appreciated.

100% true! I was going to get the ninja 650 but unfortunately the dealership never called me back to let me know they had arrived. I got inpatient and found a dealership that had a 2021 zx6r and got the same week. I never really had any riding time. At most a 10 min lessen in a gsxr 600. I love my bike got the white with gray and haven’t dropped it but I don’t ride it too crazy. I got chicken strips😂 but still learning!! Under a year of riding still and got 4500 on the dash! Great video and totally agree with everything you said man! New sub! Update! I'm living out my dreams literally and my Mrs has surprisingly been very supportive. For my first bikes I bought zx4rr zx6r same day purchase and the 500 all 40th anniversary (500 isn't here next week due to interstate delivery and not local dealer like all of my bikes except for the Chinese bikes) I'm about to get learners permit (Australia) so I will only be allowed to ride the 500 and 650 (25 650 KRT on the way also 🥳🎉). I'm going to say the 500 is for the Mrs so I can 650 without the headache 😅

I totaled this 2 months after i bought it as a beginner rider. So i hereby claim your info is legit. Regards the fact that 2021 doesn't have abs as well so that is also another drawback. And you're right. The throttle is super sensitive. I'm 5/9 but still tiptoed a bit. Definitely i should have got r6 or cbr 600 instead of zx6r 4 cylinders and extremely fast without abs... ouch. I was doing fine with the r3 and cbr500 tho. But consider riding experience, i shoulda not gotten the zx6r...
