Should you upgrade to Keurig 2.0 K-Cup Coffee Maker or not?

When I received mine for Christmas this year I fell in love with. I think it's awesome. I wanted a kuerig ever since I tryed my friend's. I didn't know there was so many models and that the 2.0 was the latest. Well after using mine and having encountered the oops error screen, I researched and found that there are ways to remedy that. I disconnected the drm sensor and also put a tiny mighty magnet taped to the upper lid where the sensor is at and now I can brew what I want up to 14oz for one k cup or in a reusable k cup. For me I didnt mind taking it apart because I like doing things like that. There are plenty of videos on here that show you how to do this.

Just lift the top flip cover after removing two small screws on the under side of the flip cover. Find the green wire and clip it. Now you will be able to use any pod in the 2.0 coffee maker.

So if you have a version 2.0 frying pan, you must buy version 2.0 eggs in order to fry them in that pan. Version 1.0 eggs will not work in a version 2.0 frying pan.

when I was deployed Kurig(sp) send us about four for free(Thanks for the support) and between them and green mountain they kept us well supplied with fine coffee's. Now for the bad news, the things I found annoying were the single serving packs and the small amount of coffee it produced after all the buzzing and pumping. Since coming home, I've seen that they now have a coffee cartilage for other types of coffee's, but for me being an "Old Joe" and not being rich on Army pay I decided to stick with a Hamilton & Beach, it's fast, get the job done and can take the abuse without all of the electronic and mechanical Gizmo's...Just like me, an old grunt.

If you have 4 min you can cut one of the new k cup lids off and glue/tape it to the lid of the machine and it allows you to use any cup. Plenty of videos out there for it now. Thanks for the video tho I didn't know if there were any good new features for the 2.0 because everyone was angry about it. Knowing I can just fix the machine with little effort tho I think the new features are worth it.

I use a refillable pod in mine. Sometimes i get the OOPS message, but I just open and close the machine again and it goes ahead and makes my coffee as usual. I also have an iCoffee which makes better coffee than the Keurig 2.0.

Walmart and Target now offer Kurig 2.0 universal metal screen filters and disposable paper filter inserts so you can use your own coffee. the two accessories are rather expensive but worth it if you would rather use your own coffee instead of buying Kurig's coffee.

Just install a Geesta Full Menu clip kit and you can use any brand K-cup at all from any manufacturer.

Great video. I have a Vue 500. I'm considering getting one of the Keurig K cup 2.0 models. I'd like to see a comparison of the Keurig Vue coffee makers and Keurig K cup 2.0 coffee makers. I really like my Vue machine but the brand & blend selection is sorta limited and does not have the blend in thd brand I like. I'm gonna try the K cup blend in my Vue. But... I'm thinking of trading the Vue for a K cup 2.0 model. What are your thoughts on this?

I wanted to replace my older version with the Vue or the 2.0 until I learned that I cannot use the filter anymore to use my own coffee. Keurig lost my business only because of that reason. I always liked to have the option to use a K-cup but didn't have to. So instead of buying a Keurig I purchased a Jura fully automatic coffee/Latte/Espresso etc. maker and could not be happier. No more dictating K-cups to me !!!!!!

I'm so confused about all this. I want to get a 2.0 and so far all the brands of kcups I like are Keurig licensed, even the Target brand Anchor Farms. I think they came out with the my cups that will let you brew your own ground coffee right? So will I be happy with it? I'm just confused on issues people have with them. Was it a bigger deal when it first came out, like they have more options now.

No, I upgraded to 2.0 and I hate it. I couldn't use the pods I had before, so gave them away. Then found out I can't brew anything but Keurig. Yes, I know they have lots of sites that show how to get around that - forget it - I'm not mechanically inclined and it's a pain in the butt. I'm going to buy another brewer - NOT a Keurig. I'll use up the Keurig coffee I now have and then it's gone. Besides that contstantly get messages to descale or clean the needle. I haven't decided yet whether to buy another brand that uses the Keurig cups. My friend has one and likes it. Or go back to my drip coffee pot, which is less hassle and much cheaper coffee.

SoloClip 2 on amazon 6-9$ and it clips in to the reader is as easy as snapping in the k-cup brew your own pod. no tape no trickery

My problem with Keurig's decision is they exact a royalty from every coffee maker, although they are in no way responsible for purchasing or processing the beans that go into the coffee. This is no doubt influenced by the fact the company was purchased from the original owners by a corporation known as "Green Mountain" and they're a company that has their own coffee. They probably felt that if you chose a competitor's coffee over theirs, they should be paid anyway. We have expectations. They are influenced by prior court rulings, and by anti-trust statutes that prohibit the producer of a machine from requiring that you purchase their products when there is no difference in quality or composition. That is why Honda does not insist that you purchase their windshield wipers or gas or oil for their cars. They know that if they did, it would be both illegal and bad business. I doubt many people would buy Honda cars. There are many other coffee machines on the market which work as well or better than Keurig, and use any coffee pod. I suggest going with them. I use a refillable pod because I do not want to leave my grandchildren with a mountain of my plastic coffee pods to contend with.

First of all, I did get the top of the line Keuring 2.0 model 550..... I returned it the next day and bought one of the older models. Reason?? The 2.0 brews at about 165 degrees F. It makes weak coffee. The older brewers brew at a temperature much closer to the ideal ~195 approx. which is the coffee manufactures standard. I will NEVER get any Keuring 2.0 brewers ever again!! Junk!.... an oversized paperweight! Get one of their older models, especially if you can find the B70 model! That is the best brewer Keurig has ever made for home use. Bar none! No it will not brew a full carafe.... but it will properly brew coffee! Also like stated in this video, the 2.0 will NOT brew non-Keurig kCups! or use the Keurig make your own coffee basket!

Unfortunately, I think most of reviews from Aromacup, don't want to anger the company that makes the product. This guy essentially addressed nothing about the quality of the machine, re: needle clogs, error messages. Very benign, bland review.

None of the 2.0 Brewers made by Keurig work as well as the B70 by Keurig. The B70 is by far the best Keurig Brewer Keurig has ever made or will ever be made by Keurig.... No contest!! If what you like are gimmicks, then the 2.0 Brewers are definitely up your alley... However if what you want is a PROPERLY brewed cup of coffee, then STAY AWAY from ALL 2.0 brewers. The 2.0 brews at a much lower temperature thus making weaker coffee. The 2.0 measures between 165 and 173 degrees whereas the B70 brews at 190 degrees plus. I returned my top of the line Keurig to Costco and replaced it with the CHEAPEST Keurig Brewer, the K10 Plus and am happy

When the 2.0 first came out, there was a sensor inside that would only allow you to use certified, Keurig approved K-cups. After Keurig endured a rash of shit from consumers and sales of the 2.0 went into the toilet, they changed that. This video is from 2014, before the change.

This guy is complete crap, "You can't use any of the OLD K Cups," their not old if the majority of stores sell the original K Cups just as much as the NEW K Cups. Second, you can use the old cups with the Freedom Clips. Third, he never turned it on and tested each one to see which one is quieter, faster, or even inside of it. FAIL.

+Battle Lynn No, Keurig doesn't want you to know Freedom Clip even exists. This means you can use other coffee beans instead of the new K Cups, which means less money for them. You can go to Amazon or eBay to get them
