From my perspective the D312U has a much better microphone sound. So, seems like this is my choice. If it had wireless option - I'll not think more - just take my money and give me two! :)

I'm on a quest to find the best headset for online simultaneous translation. Not an easy task because it needs to fill up several demands. It's got to cover the ears entirely and have external active noise cancelling. It's got to have a microphone with good quality noise cancellation as well and finally, it needs to be wired to avoid problems with the battery. We can't afford to recharge batteries in the middle of a conference. Bluetooth is a plus that we could use when not at work in a conference. This is a tool we cannot live without, so although price is always a concern, I'm prepared for the blow. Ouch!

The D312U and D722U are both outstanding, with the latter getting the nod for superior music reproduction. However, the caveats are that it is significantly bigger and bulkier than the D312U, which, where I live in SE Asia, translates to what we euphemistically call, "freaking hot." It is also difficult to justify the additional expense when the D312U is so much more versatile, overall.
