Puss In Boots being “Just like Zorro” was no coincidence. The same actor played both. I also loved the Alien, reference when Puss In Boots bursts through Shrek’s shirt. So many great Easter eggs in this movie.
@Stratelier4 ай бұрын
Fun fact: the original Zorro story (1919) and film (1920) are now public domain (though the _name_ "Zorro" remains trademarked in the US because intellectual property rights are ... complicated). Nonetheless, Zorro was an inspiration for other popular characters like Superman and Batman. The Scarlet Pimpernel (possibly the original masked superhero) is also public domain.

The Scarlet Pimpernel was 1905. So it may have helped inspire Zorro.

Yeah heaps of them in this movie
@Pascal-the-Rascal4 ай бұрын
Yeah, and still people, many reactors included, insist on calling these movies (and other similar animated movies) kids movies 🤨Kinda annoying, to be honest. You almost never see any kids do reaction videos to movies by DreamWorks or Pixar for example, and the adults who react to them love them, but still can't let go of the notion that they are watching a kids movie. They see a dark or mature scene, and go "but isn't this a kids movie?". No... no, it isn't, actually. I once read a comment about Shrek that complained about a "kids movie" having such bad language. Movies like this are often filled to the brim with references and jokes that will go right over the heads of most kids. One of my favorite movie franchises, regardless of genre, animated or not, is the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy, and I haven't been a kid for a looong time 😆So, I prefer the term animated action comedy, or something along those lines.
@Kenny-ep2nf3 ай бұрын
@@Pascal-the-Rascal yeah a lot of these movies are actually not exclusive for kids
@Pascal-the-Rascal3 ай бұрын
@@Kenny-ep2nf Often reactors, who have seen the movies as kids, and are rewatching them as adults, say that they get them a lot better as adults, and sometimes they say that some scenes even scared them when they were kids. Still, they feel the need to use the words "kids" and "movie" in the same sentence. Pixar and DreamWorks, and even Disney, back when they were good, and before they ruined Star Wars, and started to make all those pointless remakes, put a lot of effort and money into their movies, and use a cast that makers of actual kids movies probably can only dream of affording. I mean, Jack Black in Kung Fu Panda, and the Super Mario Movie. And speaking of the Super Mario Movie, it feels like it's aimed at people who grew up playing the old school Mario games, and are now adults. Nostalgia. The same goes for Wreck-It-Ralph for example, which references a lot of old games, that I doubt a lot of the kids of today have ever played.
@Kenny-ep2nf3 ай бұрын

2:20 - So, "Parcheesi" (derived from "Pachisi") is a board game where multiple players race their tokens one lap around a prescribed track on the gameboard to win. Various modern board games like "Sorry!" or "Trouble" (aka. Frustration or Kimble) are further derived from it. It can be broadly considered a "cross and circle" type game, named for having a single loop circling the board, with (typically four) additional paths connecting the outer loop to a single point in the center. 27:40 - it's (intentionally?) ambiguous whether or not the King gave Fiona the love potion, but IIRC, upon close inspection he put the potion into the cup on his right (left of scene), which means it was the cup on the right when he put it on the balcony window -- which was the same cup he grabbed claiming "that one's mine".

One of those rare sequels that's much much better than the already excellent original. The comedy in this film is outstanding, it's like wall-to-wall gags from start to finish, you'll definitely need to watch it again to catch all of them. Plus, it's got some great character development and drama, introduces some great new characters, has an amazing villain, and features one of the best third act finales in all of cinematic history. Honestly, what's not to love? I'd definitely recommend checking out the rest of the films, admittedly neither Shrek 3 or 4 come close to matching the first two films, but they definitely have their moments. The Puss in Boots films are also definitely worth watching, especially the second one which is a modern animated masterpiece and very much on par with Shrek 2 quality-wise
