Hey buddy, I had a tank that went green on me. I bought a UV submersible filter. It worked awesome. No chemicals needed. I removed the filter once the green went away. The UV light worked great.

Best thing I’ve found to clean green water is daphnia and terrestrial plants growing aquaponicly. The daphnia colony is a great food for fish after their work is done

I use Aqua clear in my tanks with no issues with my shrimp. I say have more issue with smaller fish dying the day after I add it . I think it screws up there gills. I recommend Diluting the product in a few liters of water before adding to tank to reduce the build up of concentrations in areas. or add drops slowly to the pump outlet so it mixes

Hi! I’m a huge fan and I’ve totally binge watched all of your videos! I decided to get back into the shrimp hobby after a few years break. I decided to make my tanks just like yours and so far I have 5 set up similar to this. My question is though - how do you change out the substrate in this type of tank since there’s no box to remove? Without messing up the cycle of the tank.

I just discovered your channel. I am a new shrimp keeper in the USA starting with neocardina shrimp. I have a 6.5 gallon cube tank with 6 shrimp and a mystery snail and it is a heavily planted tank with more biofilm than the current inhabitants can consume. The spider wood branch erupted with biofilm about 2 weeks into the tank cycling. I was able to do a relatively quick start by using filter media from a 25 year old goldfish aquarium to boost my shrimp tank. You sound like you might be from Finland but there is a severe shortage of free buckets in your shrimp room so I assume you live elsewhere. No idea why I said that other than Finland is on my bucket list of places to visit because I live in a sauna.

Just like you said, the shrimp went crazy, swimming on a sugar high. I did an immediate water change and they all calmed down. I then threw the bottle away, and began applying what I have been learning from people like you and others to cycle the tank by using plants and balancing out the eco system. Good Morning, i´m wondering how long it takes to lower the ph to 6.0 when using the UGF filter with about 0.5l of soil (0. Knott Natursoil). TDS in my cube ( mineralized ROW water 40l) is about 280µS and KH 0.5. Any hints would be perfect.

Orange ADA is the light version of gold one meaning it contents less minerals, has shorter lifespan and doesn't buffer ph as good as golden one. The only good thing about orange one is that it doesn't leach ammonia for very long time and you can add shrimp much sooner

Prl look exactly the same as crs they just have pure genetic and never make you any other type of shrimp (cbs or snow white)

a basic silicone sealant or marine / aquarium adhesive works . you can use a typical waterproof adhesive but need to make sure it cures and evaporates all solvent before you add water

I had cloudy and green water before when I cycle the tank but never brown. I would just wait for a few weeks and see if it go away, if not I would do a massive water change it should help

@@ShrimpMania the cloudy water cleared up nicely i just waited it out👌🏽i’m concerned however as it’s been 2 weeks and i have no signs of algae growth anywhere which is worrying, i’ve used a whole 9l bag of ada amazonia v1 so way over plenty enough also it is only a 50L tank, i’ve cranked the lights and turned the heater up to 30 degree this week and still nothing..☹️ didn’t mineralise the RO water when first filling it up and also haven’t done a water change since, should i perhaps? also my PH is 5.8 honestly thought it would be much lower considering the amount of soil and using a UGF box
