"Clapton is the master of phrasing." As someone who's studied Clapton's' phrasing since Cream, truer words were never spoken!

Oh my god.... I've only been playing the intro and rhythm sections all these years simply because I couldn't see Clapton's solo finger work in the video.. LOVE this song, it's my best piece.... I'm almost in tears watching you break this down for us.. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

Finally someone who actually got it note perfect. Was tired of tutorials playing their own versions. Good job mate.

Man, you’re killing it ! Every time I tune in I’m shocked by your accuracy of how it’s “actually” played. I don’t know how you are able to channel each artist but keep it up. I went down to the crossroads last spring. Couldn’t find the devil to make a deal with. Spending time on your tutorials is probably a better trade anyway. Stay healthy Brother. Cheers.

Just wanted to say, you're the best. You're very much appreciated for your ease and precision in your tutorials. I wanted to suggest something a little different. Would you ever consider doing a tutorial breaking down the CAGED system, combining all the chord shapes, arpeggios and scales within each position for better melodic playing? I've just recently been breaking this down and now understanding it's importance in playing fluently up and down the fret board. I just wish I would have learned this decades ago. We may not play all the full chord shapes in each position but having them imprinted in our minds and the triads and scales within them, I believe is most important in understanding the fret board. I see everything in a new light, can't wait to break down these Clapton solos. Thanks again.

I honestly thought just by hearing the song that it was easier. I'm not very advanced in leads even though I've been playing for years. I kinda stopped learning at post amateur level haha. Now years later I pickup up the instrument again and shit, thought it would be easier. The notes themselves are not that complicated, but the feel and positions are making it hard on me.

Had an urge to hear Layla unplugged again ad found this. Fantastic lesson but one thing, Clapton never uses his pinky finger when he solos, always first, middle and ring. I've watched him forever and never seen that pinky come into play. He also has that thing where most of his bends are done with just his ring finger.

If you check out his acoustic solo in Can't Find my Way Home on "EC Was Here", it's the same key with a lot of similar phrasing. A much more soulful feel than this one, in my opinion, maybe because he was a bit younger then :)
