I've got it on R50. It's better than I expect. The benefit of better AF system on newer Canons really shine over equivalent Sonys(ZV-E10)/Nikon(Z50/Z30).

Canon has always been on top of the auto focus! This lens works great with the R10 so they built a great lens that keeps up with the modern auto focus system.

How's the grip? I want to buy new lenses for my R50 but considering its size I don't know if I should buy this one from Sigma or upgrade the camera to R10, maybe R7, with bigger bodies.
@zegzbrutal3 ай бұрын
@@shreyasgowda08 I also brought the R7 to trade off my R6. I would say the AF on R50 and R7 isn't that different. Ofc R7 has more tuning in the AF menu which can be better. Hoping R7ii comes out next year.

I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts on the comparison between this lens and the Canon RF-S 18-150. I have the Canon lens, and I'm wondering if the Sigma lens has such greater IQ within its range as to be worth giving up the advantages of the Canon lens: much greater range, and IS.
@tominthetuxАй бұрын
I've been disappointed in the Sigma. Has felt softer than what I'd want it to be even with good technique. I believe it has a lack of background contrast from the subject that makes the image feel mushy

I still use my Sigma 17-50mm EF on my Canon RP. The decrease in resolution due to the 1.6x crop is almost never an issue. Love the low-light performance and contrary to popular belief, the Canon RP is actually very good even at 12800 ISO.

I pre ordered this lens and it arrived in early July. I use it on my R7, with IBIS it gives very decent stabization, but it is not as good as Lens IS and IBIS together. But still good enough (hand holding to 1/15 at 50mm ) to make it my favorite lens. Now if Sigma would make a 50-150mm at f2.8 zoom. Or even a 50-250mm at f4.0 That would be awesome. I will be ordering the 10-18 f2.8 when that becomes available. Nice review 😊

Thanks for information ! Quick Question - I have Canon EOS R ( Just R ) & I have not any lenses as of now. Im planning to buy this Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 RF. Also I do Food, Product, Weddings, Dance photography and cinematography. This would be the perfect choice as of now or i should think for any other lenses ? Does this lens would be perfect option considering that shooting dance videos requires good focus.
@AndrewKnepper3 ай бұрын
Hey! So, the Sigma 18-50mm is designed for APS-C sensor cameras. Your EOS R has a full frame sensor. One option is you could sell your EOS R and get the Canon R10 or Canon R7 which is going to have an APS-C sensor and then get this Sigma 18-50mm. Or you could get some full frame prime lenses that are made for the full frame sensor like the 35mm, 24mm, or 50mm Canon lens. Hope this helps!

Have you tried filming something while zooming in and out a couple of times? I've seen some reviews where the lens loses focus completely every time you zoom. Do you have the same issue?
@AndrewKnepper3 ай бұрын
Yes, that does seem to happen almost every time it zooms in and out. I think most zoom lenses are this way. I usually set my distance and then film my shot rather than record while zooming, so personally it's not an issue for me!

I have the r50. I have the stm 1.8 35mm and the kit lense. I’m worried the IS might be an issue for shaky videos and photos. Also does it shoot fast in low light situations like the 1.8 35mm? Because the kit lense is slow and I seem to always miss the perfect shot and they show up as a bit blurry. Also the sharpness on the kit lense isn’t great vs the 1.8 35mm prime. Is the sharpness of photos as good as the 35mm or is it worse.
@AndrewKnepper3 ай бұрын
The Sigma 18-50mm is sharp and fast! Better than the kit for sure!
@justinburley86593 ай бұрын
The minimum shutter speed you should use on this lens is 1/100th of a second. If you are still getting blurry photos, focus on keeping still. If you are still struggling, shoot short bursts until you are confident shooting just once. You should get no blurry images when shooting over 1/200th of a second. Hope that helps :)

Unfortunately it does not :( The Canon SL3 is an EF mount camera and the only Canon mount for this lens is RF which is not adaptable. The EF system does have lots of lens options available! Or if you're looking for an RF mount Camera upgrade I'd recommend the R10 or R7!
