@@stevenwaldstein2249 I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it! The aperture isn’t really a limiting factor with the low light performance of the Sony and Lumix cameras and in fact, it helps more stuff getting focused, which is typically what you want for a wide angle lens. It’s also really handy for things like real estate establishing shots gimbal work and vlogs.

Hearing you mention "element of fun" and hearing how their marketing guy berated Robin Wong with "dont you find photography fun?!" It seems that was the way they're trying to sell these cameras. These lenses are small-ish but Panasonic really needs pancake lenses.

@@marklion315 I kind of remember that video but I don’t think I watched it really. The point I guess I was trying to make was that it is fun to use this camera and these lenses enable that a little bit more than some larger ones. Good balance of size performance fun and professional results

i have the sigma 17 - on an S5ii and S5 though....I use the in body ex. tele converter at the middle range and get nicer framing for impromptu people shots when traveling....it's a great tool for travel photos, but not paid work, as it knocks the megapixels down in half - though Lumix says there's no quality change. That 17 makes carrying the S5ii around for a day with the family a pleasure. Also - it does great with the APS-C crop for video too. The 35 is beautiful, tried to buy a used one at a brick and mortar, but the clerk fell in love with it as we were checking it out on a camera in the shot, and he kept it for himself and I went with a used 65 instead - it's my go to portrait lens now.

I'm looking at the 65 and the lumix 50/1.8 for portraits and general documentary style shooting. My main lens is the 24-105. The 65 i like the build, it's very sharp, renders a little warm, and gets you more compression. The 50 1.8 is a but lighter, a bit more generic/neutral look to it, and comes in significantly cheaper. Tough call. Any suggestions? The 45 2.8 is another option, but i think the extra light will be nice to have especially taking indoor portraits of people in their homes which tend to be dimly lit in the country where i live.

I am a Sony Emount shooter (A7C & A7IV) and own the Sigma, 24mm, f3.5, DG DN and the Sigma 90mm, f2.8, DG DN. Some shy away from the 24, f3.5 because of the f3.5 aperature, but I Love it for its beautiful color rendition, close focus distance, and minimal barrel distortion,(but even that is manageable with in camera correction without stretching the image). As much as I like the 24mm, the 90mm (not featured here), is quite a fantastic engineering marvel of a lens. It is just as small as the 24mm f3.5, but returns beautiful images at 90mm, (can extend to 135mm with APSC super 35 mode).

Hello, something's strange, have you really used the S9 in Canada ? Or is it just about the lenses ? Nice vid thus, congrat. I would have picked the 24f2 instead of the 3.5 but beside that, I already have the three others, they're nice. I just have a strange play in the hood of the 17mm have you? The 65mm has a unique feature, if you open your other eye you'll see the magnification of an EVF matches your real vision. Oh but the S9 has no EVF just remembered
@RhettThompsonFilmАй бұрын

I have the Sigma 35mm f2 for my S9. The build quality of this lens is really spectacular, but a bit front heavy for the S9 (even with Smallrig handgrip) so maybe I will exchange that with the Sigma 45mm f2.8 and then I will patiently waiting for Lumix S 18-40mm kit zoom for more compact setup. Beside of that, I have two 35mm manual focus lenses for the S9: a 7Artisans 35mm f1.4 mark III and an adapted Fujica 38mm f2.8, lens for compact camera that stupidly weightless lol
@MrRafalEnАй бұрын
How do you like 7Artisans 35 f1.4 mark III ? Is rendering nicer than on Sigma 35 f2 ? And is it hard to get the focus right with S9 ? I was contemplating buying an S9 so I loaned it for a weekend for free through panasonic loans. Used the 45mm Sigma with it which I bought for pretty cheap second hand (rationale if i end up not wanting the camera I could sell for very little if any loss). Killer combo, ordered the S9 at the end of that weekend and I think the 45mm had a lot to do with it.
@antoniog8276Ай бұрын
I would loan the 45mm to see how the autofocus works. My copy has a hard time with something as basic as walking towards the camera (s5ii) and I've read online that this is normal. The 35mm has better autofocus supposedly.
@indradinho88Ай бұрын
@@MrRafalEn The rendering is full of classic "characters". Swirly bokeh,a bit busy OOF rendering, only sharp at the center (the corner was soft, even at f8), field curvature, and sometimes I get a strange golden flare (which I really like, actually). Beside any of these weaknesses, I love it because this lens and the Sigma was like Hulk and Bruce Banner lol. Same focal length but very different personality. Build quality of the 7artisans 35mm f1.4 iii is excellent if you compare to smaller (and cheaper) lenses from same brand. Focusing ring is buttery smooth (love it), and you can declicked the aperture ring if you want to. The Lumix S9 is good enough for manual focusing. I miss my GH5' big and excellent viewfinder, but S9 have a bright monitor (+3 brightness was almost as bright as my 1000nit++ smartphone's display), the focus peaking is accurate, and you can always zoom in for better visibility. If you want to know the characters that I mention, please check my latest video. All the footage was shoot with the S9 and the 7artisans 35mm f1.4 iii.
