To go into more detail as well as my knoledge allows: Normally your body dosn't produce enough melatonin or other hormones that send your body into shut down mode. However your body still suffers the normal effects of sleep deprivation. It also can make you more prone to sleep walking and sleep paralysis.

Most relatable Owl City song, yet! He has this essence of relatability scattered throughout his songs and this one hits it home for me. We all have our issues that may seem insurmountable at one point or another and this song not only shows that, but also tells that, despite that, we can move forward with hope that things will get better! Seriously, I'm getting a lump in my throat from both listening and explaining this right now. Not from complete sadness, but knowing that there is happiness in the darkest times! Well, Shooting Star and Good Time were super superficial and that was not him at all. Any fan of his old stuff knows that. His Midsummer Station CD wasn't really him. I think his agent or other people were worried about him not being or staying popular enough and tried to get him to become like the other singers= techno and superficial. Fireflies, on the other hand, WAS more him. Even if it wasn't really deep and interiorly revealing like some of his songs, it was nerdy and it was still him.

I can really relate to this song. I had lost a horse two days ago. It ripped me apart in the inside. Her name was Kallie, a beautiful red chestnut with the whitest blaze and the most sweetest eyes. She helped me through the death of my horse Tucker 5 years ago. With Tucker, it was extremely hard. He was there ever since I was a baby. He was my teacher, my friend, and my family. I miss those two with all my heart.

But other times, it's warm and brings comfort. Sometimes you just have to stick around the fire long enough to appreciate those moments. If you give up on it and let it die out just because you got burned a few times, others won't get to feel the warmth and happiness that your fire could've given them. And I'm sure all of us have at least one person who will sit nearby and enjoy your fire with you. Even through all the burns.

It has been like several years since this song was released. Still one of my favorite Owl City songs. Just as many of the comments I can relate to this song *a lot.* Most of my life has been a constant neglect from everyone, sometimes even from my own family. This was one song that I shared with a boy I once cared for. He liked it so much that he decided to write it into his assignment and I helped him with it. We were so closed before. For anyone reading this after a breakup or rejection or such- it does get better. You will feel again. I fell in love for the first time and my best friend dated him. I had 2 relationships after that which i eventually lost interest in and broke off. I couldnt fall in love no matter how hard i tried. Then last night, a year later, my first love texted me. We are together and i couldnt be better. While this specific thing may not happen to you, someone will love you. Think about all the times youve had a crish on someone and never thought they would notice you. Now realize how many times you have been that person to another person. This song early reminds me of my life, because around 9/2016 I was diagnosed with depression. I was brought down by that. After that I saddly went to the crazy hospital. (Physe Ward) 2 times. But since then I have gotten much better and I hope I get rid of this stupid depression and get my mental health back together. Plz leave a like if you liked this. The best way to get help is to surround yourself with people that you trust. I know people with depression, but I couldn't tell you that from experience. When people are with friends they are able to put the best parts of themselves forward, and the people I know who have depression are some of the best people I know. You're happy when you are with friends, and you feel safe around them, it makes it easier to deal with doubts that are constantly flooding your mind. Be completely honest with you friends about any fears or doubts you have. I dread telling my friend about the worst parts of me, but when I tell them I always feel relieved and I know that they will support me after I tell them the truth. That's the best way to get help.

Been a while since I commented regarding this song. This is one of the most emotionally charged songs I know, and I have many memories tied to these lyrics; both good and bad. Mostly bad... I sang this song when my girlfriend dumped me. I sang it again when the next one did. And then I sang it again when she did it again. I sang it when I made a major mistake in my life that cost me a lot of friends. I continue to sing it to remind me of my past, and how much it hurt to go through it... but always watch the summer stars to lead me home.
