Welcome to our monthly conversation with Konstantin, who is one of the most respected voices on KZbin about what is happening Inside Russia. Konstantin Samoilov is a well-known KZbinr whose channel ‘Inside Russia’ comments insightfully on Russia’s decent into authoritarianism over the last few years. @JohnBooth-bl3rh Looks like you hasn't been listening to him much. First, he has spoken outvagainst Putin so much in the past that it got banal, so he keep it without insults in signature Russian understatement way. Second, when did he show support for Trump? Most people believed until Biden stepped down that he'll win because of polls, even majority who will vote blue. We don't know that, but have to be prepared for the worst. I see you're out of touch with real situation both with Russians and US, at least overthinking without understanding.

I forget who it was, but in 2022 there was a commentator that said eventually this will boil down to a fight between the refrigerator and the TV and which will be louder. Essentially, which speaks louder to Russians, the fact that the fridge is empty at home, or the constant propaganda on the TV that says it's full? The fridge is getting empty.
@mandero88NAFO
@mandero88NAFO Ай бұрын
Most russsians are so brainwashed at this point the TV will still prevail, going by your analogy. Just listen to some intercepted phone calls from ruSSian soldiers to their family back home, SOO many of the calls go pretty much exactly like this... Soldier: Dad, we have only rifles and a few drones, they have everything and all the best gear supplied by the west. We are being decimated... Dad: Well, I watched the news last night and it says you guys are winning! Soldier: No, we are losing x amount of men, its a bloodbath.. Dad: No thats not true the TV told me Y... etc etc Its incredible to hear, and while i have zero sypathy for any ruSSian that wasnt forced to go there listening to their exasperated tone in those calls is quite something. You think its crazy how half of US citizens accept whatever FOX news says as gospel, it absolutely pales in comparison to ruSSians and their state owned media. (Btw if you wanna hear some of the calls for yourself judt search 'UATV intercepted call' here on YT...)

@@joek600 Which is irrelevant to the question I asked. However as you decided to answer my question with another question, I will still be gracious enough to answer yours by making the observation that from the time that I've been watching Konstatine's channel, which was very shortly before he left Russia up to this present day, I have found no evidence that he's grifting for anyone or anybody. Yes,he has to sell himself to make the channel work. He has a personality as large as himself and is surprisingly eloquent and erudite in a language that is not his own. It was all too clear that he went from a comfortable lifestyle both in his professional and home life and descended to the life of a homeless refugee, reduced to relying on his KZbin to make ends meet, which to my mind was just a few steps away from begging. The point is, personally I view Konstatine as a resourceful man with no agendas other than informing his audience with all things concerning Russia and doing what a resourceful man does to maintain himself and his family in (to say the least) trying times. So again,I wonder if you will also have the good grace to answer my question as to who, preferably of any noteworthiness, has said that they know Konstatine as a grifter? Perhaps it would also help to know the reasons behind their views.

One of my bosses is Russian. Her husband was highly intelligent and escaped Russia some years ago and now lectures at a university in the midlands. I'm sure this is not unusual and the brightest Russians who saw what was happening to their homeland did the same. When the war broke out her brother and brother in law immediately fled the country - one is now in Serbia and the other in Armenia. And this is ONE family. No wonder Russia is employing mercenaries from around the globe - but it's such a meat grinder, the prospect of inevitable death will naturally affect recruitment. The war will end, not in a bang, but with a whisper.

This is the continuation of the Cold War. Maybe we can now somehow finish this thing permanently. Wasn't Purin the one who tried using energy as a weapon and now it comes back in his face. Excellent strategy by Ukraine. This actually feels exactly how it seemed in '91. The same thing would be fine with me. The difference now is we can actually hear what is going on in Russia. Something important to know, for all who interested in history and/or support Ukraine: Rus' ought not to be confused with modern “Russia”, which derives its name from the Rus' but historically is a completely different state, which almost all its existence was at war with the Rus'. Just like the Holy Roman Empire was actually Germany, “Russia” is actually Muscovy, despite their best attempts to convince everybody otherwise. Its name “Russia" received only in the 18th century, when Peter I simply changed Muscovy’s name into the “All Russian Empire” (Russia originates from Rosia, name used by the Greek Orthodox Clergy in regards to Rus') Under the reign of Cathrine II Muscovites where even punished for continuing to identify as Muscovites, and were forced to call themselves Russian. Lands that Russia (Muscovy) claims were part of the original Rus', but actually weren't, are Novgorod, Suzdal, and Ryazan, since in historical texts of XI-XII centuries they are mentioned as separate entities from Rus'. They can be considered parts of extended Rus', although their culture was distinct from main Rus'. In 1493, Muscovite duke Ivan III appointed himself to be the Great Ruler of All Rus'. No other kings acknowledged that. From that point on Muscovy started to make false claims on Rus' ownership. “Russia” is an offshoot of Ukraine and not the other way round, despite what Soviet and Russian (Muscovite) historians have been trying to say for years. A Slavicised Finnic, then later, Mongolized offshoot. Kyiv was a developed cultured capital when Moscow was just another swamp village. Moreover, in the Italian sources of the 15th century it is likewise mentioned, that Russia is bordered by Poland to the west, Lithuania and Livonia to the north, and *Muscovy* to the east, further proving that Russia historically speaking, is an exonym of Ukraine, that was stolen by Muscovy. Germany used to call itself the Holy Roman Empire, that didn’t mean they became the Romans, and all of a sudden had a right to claim whole of Italy and its history, but yet, that’s exactly what Russia (Muscovy) did in regards to Rus'-Ukraine, which is a horrible injustice!

Russian citizens have been de politicized, not involved in politics, surrendered their obligations as citizens and politics not for decades for centuries. The serfs were liberated in 1861 however, the serf mentality has never left Russia. The serf mentality has never left Russia and this sense of Russian imperialism is ingrained in every Russian citizen. The Germans had to reconcile Hitler the Japanese not to anywhere near the same extent had reconcile Tojo, but never had to reconcile Hirohito . The Russians have never had an account for to reconcile Lennin Stalin, and now Putin. Russia needs to lose this war. It needs to be humiliated and they need to be held accountable for Lennin Stalin, and Putin

The story of the siemens turbines and these blackouts is what sanctions are for. These are direct consequemces of a country being sanctioned. Sanctions are effective but it takes time for the effects to be seen. A fully maintained plant that loses it's maintenance ability does not simply break down immediatly. It takes time for things to wear out, and at first things can be fixed and patched up to keep going a bit longer. But eventually patches no longer work because complete overhaul is necesary. And it is not just powerplants where this is happening. These things will be happening in all sorts of industries large and small.

I believe they’re in bankruptcy now what’s a produced was a single stage micro turban that could be used for electrical generation and combined heating power and combined cooling heat and power modules are 33 kW or 66 kW and can be rigged up in series to a megawatt, if they are in bankruptcy, they need to be purchased out and making micro tins and we can send to Ukraine in a distributed generation model

I think it’s very clear that trump works for putin and I think this has been in works for quite some time. In 2008, during a New York real estate conference, Donald Trump Jr. remarked on the significant involvement of Russian money in the Trump Organization’s assets. He stated, “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” highlighting the influx of Russian investments, particularly in high-end projects in places like SoHo and New York City

Konstantin is denying it has been abnormally hot in Russia? It has been abnormally hot all over the world. When you increase the degree-days in which most equipment must operate, in accelerates the need for maintenance. That gives Putin no excuse for the power failures, though. As a petro-power, Russia bears some responsibility for the warming world.
@SiliconCurtain

I think his point is that in that region of Russia hot summers are not unusual- even if the current summer is particularly intense - and the infrastructure is built to cope with that. It’s likely that the temperatures put stress on infrastructure that is poorly maintained. A sort of perfect storm.
