Very informative review. Seems like a great budget case.

Thanks! I really enjoyed building inside of this case! SilverStone makes some great components, always look forward to working with them. I'm thinking about re-using this case in an upcoming budget build, something Ryzen based with a slightly older GPU. Were you looking for a case upgrade or building a new gaming pc?

Thanks for the review. I have 3 SSDs and I'd like to remove the HD-cage, but the third SSD has to be fixed on the cage, right? Or is it possible to fix an SSD on the bottom, below the HD-cage? V1 had more options for SSDs. By, Martin
@STS Жыл бұрын
That is correct, you would be using the top of the hard drive cage for the third 2.5inch drive mount. Since SSDs are relatively shock-proof unlike hard drives, you could technically let it rest freely in the case or secure it by other means. Which SSDs did you end up going with?
@martindierks4726 Жыл бұрын
@@STS With good old Crucial MX500 and Kingston KC3000 (M2 for video editing). So I can place the two Crucials on the back of the MB-tray, where they get air from front fans and I can remove the HD cage.

Solid choice there. SSD prices are dropping, I'm looking at buying some more M.2 NVMe drives at the moment!

Hey i was wondering if you know how to change the colours for the fans?

Sorry for the late reply here - The RGB fans are part of the CPU Watercooler. I configured them by the RGB header on the motherboard.

the website says that this build now comes with 4 fans?

I'm not seeing that on the Fara R1 V2 is coming with 4 fans - I still only see it being marketed with 1 included. Did you have the link that you are looking at?

Bought this case for $40 on a walk-in store in my country, good case. It's minimalistic looks allows people to customize it with various RGB from different brands, I prefer Razer because of the very good RGB they provide and their software is very good.

Hi Alvis! For the cost, this is definitely a great value PC case. What type of PC build was this for?

Hi, what are the differences between the Fara R1 *V1* and *V2* ?
@STS2 жыл бұрын
Hi AK! Certain elements changed but the cases are similar. The V2 for exampl relocated the SSD mounts from just above the PSU shroud to the rear side of the case. The V2 is also a little bit larger which means you get better radiator support for watercooling and the V2 will also support a slightly longer graphics card too.

Thanks for the review. However, I was just wondering if the GPU slots at the back were replaceable or do you have to break them out?
@STS2 жыл бұрын
These PCIe slot covers break out, they are not replaceable. Out of curiosity, what features matter most in your next Gaming PC case?
@ZephyrWrites6 ай бұрын
how do i break it out? having trouble right now.
@STS6 ай бұрын
What I normally do is just push them outward from the inside of the case then back inward from the outside of the case. Do this a few times and the small metal connections will weaken and you should be able to just wiggle it out easily. Is this a new gaming build you're setting up?

Sorry for the late reply here. In this case, I think you're fine with either case to be honest. I would probably pick the SilverStone Fara R1 V2 since its more of my style asthetically. That should be a pretty good gaming rig, definitely make sure to run your system memory at XMP rated speeds in order to get the most CPU/system performance you can while gaming! Did you start you build yet?

This was on sale at amazon last few weeks for $66 for the solid panel model. I happen to catch the tail end of that pricing. Now back to $88. At $66 it's a pretty good case for the price. No water cooling in this build, just needed a somewhat decent basic case. Seems 5.25" slots have gone out of style these days. Such cases are hard to find any more. The 3.5" bays (2 of 'em) seem to be an after thought in this case. They're on the button near the power supply. If you ever need to add/remove cables from the modular supply, the drive bay will have to come out first. Overall build quality appears decent for the price point. They could have included some more case fans, at least 1 front one. Compared to the cooler master n400 (something I use few months ago). This case is definitely easier to work with and seems more robust. Cases are much a personal item and vary greatly depending on needs. My main box (5900X, 64gb, some older nvidia card, lots of drives) is still housed in an old antec 1200 with the 360mm rad strapped to the back, custom cooling loop. Storage consists of multiple rosewill RSV-SATA-Cage-34 bays with the hotswap sleds (3 such bays fit nicely into the antec1200).

Hey! Glad to see you found a great deal on the case! Many case manufacturers have opted to stop including optical drive support which is unfortunate if you need them. There's still a few out there though but I have switched most of my dic drives over to USB now. As for hte hard drive cages under hte shrouds, this is normal practice now. I imagine someday they wont be included at all but we're still a few years off from that I think. I liked this case generally speaking but yes, I would have liked another front fan as well. More pressure and airflow would help the typical midrange build that I would expect people are using this case for. I am a sucker for huge cases that last years and years. I still have my old ThermalTake Armor cases, both of them! I'm currently using a be quiet! Dark 700 for my main PC, It's a bit bigger but not too big, no optical drive support though, ha.

Can you mount gpu vertical?
@STS Жыл бұрын
While there are vertical slots in this case for the GPU, I would not recommend mounting a GPU vertically in this case. If the GPU is aircooled, any time it if vertically mounted there will special considerations for airflow.
