I have had my P3 since April of 2022, I had a few minor issues which Igor personally helped me out with via email so quickly that I was shocked. After having the rig for a few months I was not happy with the "stuttering" with small movements and contacted Igor about what I could do, after sending Igor telemetry from the testing program, it was determined that the rig was operating within parameters but I was still not happy with the stuttering. Igor offered to send me the new (at the time) SFU gear boxes at a discount, in fact I was one of the first people to get the SFU gear boxes. I installed the new gear boxes and was much happier with the increased smoothness but I do still get a small amount of what I call "Stuttering" with very small or very slow movement's. While I am very happy overall with my P3 I will be upgrading to this new system as soon as possible.

Hello Mark, it might be worth doing a follow up video on the upgrade, particularly the firmware mods & parameters to the control unit that are required. You don't find out about this until after placing your order and most people will find the 7 pages of instructions daunting. There's at least one user struggling with the power on reset positioning. I'm expecting 2 upgrade motors by the end of September.

Personally, I was about to part with a frankly massive amount of cash for an H6. Unfortunately, my built in 'caution' warning is now preventing me. There are too many variables, too much doubt and too much feeling like I am still part of a beta program. Sadly, that sort of cost is just too much for a gamble. Even an email to DOF Reality to clarify postage/import costs etc ended with me being more confused than when I started... On an unrelated point, I strongly feel the warranty should be more than 1 year. I just don't have the confidence I heed to part with £6000. That is frustrating as I know how good this experience would be - I can see it and hear it in your voice Mark 😀

Love the way the issue is belittled by Igor at 19:00. Anytime you come in for a landing on either GA in MSFS or in DCS, especially carrier landing the things steps like crazy. It is not only when artificially creating the scenario, sorry. But, if you don't feel it, great. I did immediately when i got it running and even before i read all the stuff on forums etc... The other thing is that the shipping to get the new motors out to Australia (which i'll have to pay for) and the old motors back,(which i'll also have to pay for even though i did that once already for motors with a known issue) will make it quite expensive plus the cost of the new motors themselves, and all associated taxes, i don't know if it's even worth it. But, at least DOF reality have done something i guess.

Hi Mark, I have a question that you are uniquely quallified to answer. I own the next level racing's boeing flight seat you reviewed about a year ago here on this channel (that "boeing military" green simpit). Do you think that seat is good enough for mounting on DOF reality platform? Looking for saving a buck if I ever order the DOF H2/3. And I understand I will probably get some metal sheet and drill some adapter holes, but my point is more about if you can imagine this seat being safe on the H2/H3, since it has seat belts, but not sure how violent the H2/H3 movement can be on hinges of a chair that was not designed for movement. Thanks in advance if you answer!

23:00 I have a P6 with the SFU gearboxes. I'd be interested in the gearbox upgrade, but I'm NOT going to pay shipping both ways on 6 perfectly good motors just to have them install the new gearboxes. I'm an A&P mechanic, an electronics technician, and a certified avionics technician -- I have NO problem with installing the new gearboxes myself. DOF Reality should provide that as an option for people out there like **me** who don't mind doing the work themselves.

I am struggling with the economics of this upgrade. While it appears you can save some money by returning your existing motors in exchange for the new ones, the shipping costs are killing the deal for me being in Australia with $90 of that $100 refund per motor going towards shipping the items back ie. a net $10 saving. Shipping to the USA is not much better at $70. Even ignoring the shipping costs, I am paying $200 for a motor and reducer gearbox just to get the reducer gearbox which is all I actually want. If I was ordering new it only costs $100 extra per motor to get the new gearbox. Now I know Igor says he wanted to give customers a reasonably simple swap over by the way DOF Reality has packaged this, but what I, being reasonably adept with tools and mechanical stuff, really want is to be able to order the gearboxes at $100 a pop plus much less shipping (because there's no heavy motors to send) and put the new gearboxes in myself. As it currently stands, I have to shell out nearly $1100 to get three new gearboxes shipped to me attached to motors I don't want and not bother returning anything because the savings aren't worth it. What I'd like is pay $300 for three gearboxes only plus say another $100 max shipping and end up paying only 1/3 of the cost for the current arrangement. Yes, I'd have to install them myself but I've got $700 saved to compensate me for my effort. Does anyone else want the same upgrade arrangement? @DOF Reality - can I have this instead?

I heard back from DOF Reality about the possibility of having the gearboxes only shipped and was told it would not be possible without any further explanation as to why. As I really notice the cogging issue and want it fixed, I have begrudgingly gone ahead with the order of three gearbox/motor combinations with no return shipping (because it's not cost effective) and have asked DOF Reality that if they do have a change of heart and offer the shipping of gearboxes only before my order ships then to change it to that but I am not very hopeful that will happen. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to resolving this cogging issue that has been bugging me since the first day I turned my rig on a year ago!

The information DOF Reality are providing, regarding upgrading the motors, is misleading at best. I contacted them regarding upgrading my pitch and roll motors, and was told that I'd need just the motors and nothing more. I questioned the lack of brake on my current set up (older sfu type) and was then told that I would need and extra component. As the cost was minimal I agreed, opting for the 'none return' option, and they sent me an invoice for $740. I paid the invoice but, a short time later, I received a further email telling me that I would need to uphrade my yaw motor, as it was the old 'non sfu' type, which would be another $300! Here's a question -- my experience with real helicopters is that they vibrate -- sometimes a lot, sometimes a little -- but they all do it. It occurred to me that getting one of those vibrating pads like the Haptic might make sense. So even though helicopters ideally have the *least* motion as in a stable hover and would be susceptible to DOF's stepping issue, would it not be the case that putting a Haptic in between your body and DOF would eliminate noticing? Instead of upgrading 6 motors, wouldn't one $200 Haptic pad basically solve the problem?

DOF reality is cheating you, they provide what they say is an « affordable » platform but with ridiculous motion ranges unable to realize complex moves with enough ranges, they provide very basic components and you have to add options and options and options to get at the end of the day and a lot of money more what you could get for the same price or less from the beginning in another system. In addition the weight capability is ridiculously weak and the whole thing looks more to a toy than to a real motion platform. Only advantage is the limited space it occupy. After spending many months evaluating all providers for a 6DOF, including DOF reality H6 and P6, I’ve reached the conclusion that a lever geared with no brake system is not to buy. So I’d preferred selecting a linear actuator DIY system for quite the same price as the P6 but with comfortable more than 600mm motion ranges, allowing real acceleration sensation using surge in pitch while getting enough spare for heave acceleration and pitch speed emulation and almost a 250kg lift ability to install all my controls, NLR flight seat HOTAS and MFDs…..For sure it occupies more room but all software are free, no SRS licence, including motion compensation and having built the actuators, based on COTS cheap components and the rig myself from the kit I’m able making the maintenance without any problem. 🤗 So think twice before investing…..
