For furniture we can actually use both Möbel, which sounds like the French word, or Mobiliar, which sounds like the Turkish word. So weird, I guess in the end most languages are seriously intertwined. We're all family after all.

Such as: şapka, poğaça, atilla etc. Indeed our history are intersected so thats why it is. And also This journey was wonderful for me. learn Turkish through English soooo wrong way. From French, you can learn English, Spanish, Italien, portugese maybe but if you wana learn Turkish leave your brain at home. While we study English at schools, our English teachers (all of them) advice this. they insist do not think Turkish and do not learn via translation. Hole word order, grammer is opposite and even there is tenses in English that Turkish not and Turkish tenses that English has not. Also cultures are different for example Turks drink soup, not eat. Turkish put on şapka-heat does not wear. There is no gender on nouns in Turkish. there is no have/has in Turkish.

Turkish language got many words from french in the time of ottoman empire after the "tanzimat" reorganization era. actually in turkish there are still some old fashion french words the french even don't use recently just like palto(paletot), pisuvar( pissoir), jaluzi (jalouisie), kalorifer (calorifère)..etc.

Yes, these words got into turkish with very similar sounding pronounciation because in the late ottoman period it was a must for a high-born person to speak fluent French or English. And during that period the elite people of the ottomans were strongly influenced by French culture. After the Turkish Republic was founded, the official way of talking was chosen to be the "elite turkish", so these words became some of the simplest words that you may hear in a basic turkish conversation.

Until almost 1990s, in my country, the French language was the second language in the education. The educated people over 40 years old can know French language. After 1998, English became the second language in the education. Therefore, new generation is thinking the words originally Turkish, but it's not true.

"Kask" is "Helmet" in Polish too. And "Szantaż" (prounounced Shantazh) also means "Blackmail". And "Kravat" also means "Tie". And "Flu" is "grypa". And "piece of furniture" is "mebel". "Timer" is almost exactly the same. "Beton" is exactly the same. I'm amazed how many words are used in the Polish language, that originated from languages that are completely unrelated to Polish. I also guessed the Turkish sentence, but I missed the "when i grow up" part, but I was on the right track. It was pretty easy after she said what it was about, and said one of the words means "truck" and confirmed that I heard "chauffer" in there. But I'm still shocked just how many words I recognized from Polish.

There are of course Turkish in America, Turkish Americans but she was born in Turkey and studies in Canada, she has Canadian citizenship, not American. American is a national term, not a racial anyway. We Turks don't have a rough accent, it is kind, and we don't have hard letters for English, that's why it is easy to speak any other languages with in. Yes she is very educated about accent. Well our some dumb teenagers when they migrate to english speaking countries or have to use English, they are very obsessed and careful about and tries hard to speak with English American accent/in true accent, they think it makes look them cool. But I think everyone should be relax, in time you can start to speak with it already.
