Soy curls are the best! Before I met my boyfriend he would only eat meat and potatoes! (I'm not kidding) ...Two years into the relationship and he's replaced 70% of his meat intake with vegan substitutes and soy curls (marinated/seasoned and baked in the oven) are one of his favourites! Also all three of those burritos look delicious! :)
@xxxxxxx827363 жыл бұрын
Is there any difference between TVP and soy curls? I mean when it comes to marinating and cooking - just the whole process. Here in germany i can only find classic tvp. And can u give me some recommendations for the marinating/seasoning?
@dalemills80523 жыл бұрын
@@xxxxxxx82736 soy curls can just be soaked in cold/warm/ hot water or marinated in any flavor profile you like. I like to add just a bit of vinegar or lemon juice to a strong broth. Mustard and/or vegan Worcestershire are great instead of vinegar. Just soak the soy curls in a generous amount of the marinade for as long as you like, squeeze out the excess liquid and sautee or bake them. I even bread and chicken fry them. Wonderful!! With tvp I would make the same marinade and use just enough to make the tvp as soft as you like it While sauteeing it.

I've got one for you....sweet potatoes, salsa, black beans, fresh corn, avocado, and cilantro. It's good with or without rice. I live on burritos as much as possible and yeah, soy curls ROCK. Normally I toast my tortillas on an open flame briefly on one side before I fill 'em. It keeps the moisture inside while adding that texture and yumminess. I will try your sealing-the-ends technique first thing tomorrow. I find it amusing that someone in New Mexico is watching someone in Canada make burritos. Hah! Thanks for the video! Good stuff!

Hey Derek. Here's a little tip I use for sealing burritos. Just before you finish the roll, dip your finger in some water and lightly wet the inner side of the closing edge of the tortilla. The water will allow the gluten to act as a glue that seals the burrito more securely especially when it hits the pan.
@adamj2683 Жыл бұрын
And then the gluten will lead to zonulin which leads to leaky gut, inflammation, disease, and a shitty life.

Another trick-- instead of microwaving the tortilla, you can just put it straight on the heat source and move it around a bit for 10 seconds, on the flame or electric stove. Right over a flame is how they soften tortillas in Latin America.

I made this one yesterday and it was delicious. Thanks for sharing your recipes! I'll be trying the other ones as well. I've written them up and will share in subsequent comments. Sorry that I didn't add the amounts, but this should be a good starting point. Crispy BBQ Garden Wrap Ingredients: Butler Soy Curls or TVP BBQ sauce of choice Black Pepper romaine lettuce bell pepper (red or yellow) carrots, shredded green onion, chopped tortilla, wrap size (spinach) mustard vegan ranch dressing cooked brown rice Directions: Rehydrate soy curls in water for about 10 mins, drain excess water and wring out the rest. Put in a dish, add BBQ sauce. Squish the sauce into the soy curls. Add black pepper. Sauté, bake or air fry (preferred) the soy curls. Set aside. Chop the romaine lettuce. Slice the bell peppers, green onion and grate the carrots. Add soy curls to the wrap-sized tortilla. Add mustard or sauce of choice. I used TJ's Dill dressing and a homemade plant-based honey mustard dressing (homemade). Add the veggies (lettuce, bell pepper, carrots and green onion) Add brown rice. Add a vegan ranch dressing and fold the tortilla into a wrap. Sauté/toast the wrap in a skillet.
