The last time I spoke with Simon Hunt, he predicted a rocky road ahead for the global economy, that will eventually culminate in the massive pile of $trillions in global unserviceable debt going into default causing a worldwide depression by 2025.
Since his last appearance, the markets have become a lot more optimistic, US Q3 GDP hit 4.9% and inflation has marching downwards to 3% -- all positives. Though on the negative side, US deficits & debt balances have soared, leading economic indicators have fallen to recessionary levels, and the Middle East has been plunged into war.
Today we'll ask commodities expert and geopolitical analyst Simon Hunt how any of this impacts his dire forecast for 2024/2025.
Follow Simon at his website www.simon-hunt.com/

@beverlyharward9631, you are 100% correct. Capitalism is about protecting and growing the income producing property of the largest property holders. Income producing property is what we know as "capital". Those who are not the owners of these large holdings are meant to bear the burden of capitalism's problems. The only way out is socialism. And the owners will do anything to stop this. Earth is a giant plantation. If you aren't one of the owners, then you are one of the slaves.

Problem is that there's only so much doom and gloom that someone can take before before it all becomes a kind of white noise. I was glued to Peak Prosperity when I discovered it 5 years ago, only to discover that living your life based on a constant, imminent fear of societal collapse is just... not good. And the longer you spend listening to various shades of 'doomsday' prophecies that never come true, the less seriously you end up taking them.

Bam. I have listened faithfully for two years and as a result of the constant doom and gloom pounding away at me, my portfolio is down, or I should say, has not gone up nearly as much as it could have if I just would have stayed in and dollar cost averaged. Yes, I know our level of debt is unsustainable, but this soul crushing outlook leaves me empty of any joy and for this reason I’m going to unsubscribe. The uncertainties accompanying this present market is more reasons I have my daily investment decisions guided by a portfolio-coach seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time, both employing profit-oriented strategy and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downtrends, coupled with the exclusive analysis, it's quite impossible not to outperform. We can worry about the Taiwan straits, or, we can worry about the hundreds of thousands of unknown persons, who originate from EVERY country in the world, entering the country, These are not poverty cases seeking asylum, these are military age men, each one paying significant money, to get into the country for unknown purposes.

May Amazon be damned! While touting Amazon as a model of efficiency what people often forget is that its overall business model is far from efficient. Little attention is being paid to the environmental damage being done as it quickly places goods in the hands of spoiled customers that are in no real hurry for them or decide to return them. Polluting planes flying packages across the country and putting a small item in a box to be driven miles to a customer's doorstep is far from environmentally prudent. The amount of waste generated from such a promotional online distribution model boggles the mind. The article below argues that Amazon is a predatory monster that has been unleashed upon America. It details why Amazon is bad for America, how it grew so fast, and why the company should be boycotted. brucewilds.blogspot.com/2021/12/amazon-predatory-monster-unleashed-upon.html

I like the slow delivery of Simon. No voice inflection or emotion at all. Pure gloom and doom delivered in a typical BBC news reporting style. I like it. We need a good recession to teach our children a new way of living. We. we have been living in an extended era of "exuberant conspicuous consumption." Sorry people, game over for awhile. Recession on the horizon,

Revelation 6 tells us there are seven seals and when each seal is broken something terrible happens. For example the third seal says a loaf of wheat bread will take a days pay. Other things are famine, disease, war, earthquakes. Revelations 8 starts to explain the five trumpets. When each trumpet is blown something terrible will happen. For example at the sound of the first trumpet one third of the Earth was set on fire. In Revelation 16 it talks about the seven bowls that will be poured out on the Earth. For example the second angel will pour out his bowl and everything in the sea will die.

You need to get out more. This guy seems to have some kind of dislike for America. I could see this administration,... but American principles and humanity and freedom??? Especially compared to russia, china and the middle east. I mean is he being held at gun point there in Dubai to spew this drivel? 27:00 This guy is delusional if he thinks the US has had this cunning 80 year plan to gain control of Russia's resources. We could have owned most of Europe,.. but what do we do,.. help rebuild and set them on their free (er or as free as you can be in socialist countries) way. We helped Saudi Arabia build out theirs. How come we didn't just take that? The US's economy is about 14 times the size of Russia's. If we wanted,.. we could have taken their resources long ago, Especially after Gorbachev tore down the wall. Upon which,.. Ukraine gave up its nukes its defense capabilities only because the US agreed to provide for its defense. That's all but signing the paper for being a member of NATO. But the US is "trying to take over russia's resources"??? This must be the conspiracy theory scuttlebutt in Dubai. Russia only got sanctions put on it when IT attacked Ukraine,.. after IT seized Crimea. I mean who's trying to take over who's resources here??? LOL The guy, this "geopolitical expert" is a fool.

Freight levels are at a crawl. This is a huge indicator of a recession and the tight market hit in July just as Yellow went down. Freight predicts the future economy 6 months prior. We are looking at a horrible downturn in February. Many jobs lost and then comes foreclosures about 5-6 months later. This is going to look terrible by September. Major deval in home prices and no buyer's because they've ruined their credit score by this time.

Thankfully there is a lot of documentation as to what people went through with high/hyper inflation in their countries. Might be useful reading because human needs are pretty basic regardless of where they live. The US has not had to really go through an Inflationary Depression since most of our Depressions have been Deflationary Depressions ;-)

Adam After listening to your weekly market review with Lance, who I believe correctly states that predictions beyond 3-6 months are sketchy at best, it was hard to listen to Mr Hunt talk about events he predicts will occur up to 7 years from now. His scenario is certainly possible, but I’m sure it is one of many possibilities. He makes it sound like it is the only one. I’m curious what he thinks is the probability of these events occurring. Thanks for presently his point of view however.
