Birmingham fan here but Villa are absolutely right to challenge this. Being forced to sell £150m worth of players to tick some fabricated arbitrary P&S box when they have just got into the Champions League is ridiculous and weakens their playing strength just as they should be improving it further. Good to see clubs finally wake up to the dangers of this authoritarian, self-sabotaging and uncompetitive nonsense and take legal action to address it. This is a rare occasion that I hope Villa actually win, assuming they do challenge it.

The top 6 mafia don't want another City. It's why Newcastle are being held back. It's why Aston Villa will be held back instead of allowing to buy top players. We've got to sell 1st. Luiz doesn't want to leave and I'm betting Cash doesn't either. So long as Liverpool and Arsenal keep bitching nobody else will get a look in.

@@L1am21No that's common sense. Especially when the rules stop owners using their own money to bankroll a club. Every club relegated gets parachute payments. Without that insurance you couldn't spend when you got promoted meaning every promoted team would be relegated almost without a fight. The PL would be a 17 team super league. Is that what you want, or is your hatred of City or Villa so great you weren't able to carefully assess your own position?

@outofthetrash5925
@outofthetrash5925 13 күн бұрын
@@tomd2103 EUFA did it 1st. Their intrest was definitely protectionism. The consequences were intended. They were scared legacy clubs like Utd, Real, Barcelona etc would worry about more Citys and Chelseas coming along and run off and set up a super league. Something they then tried to do anyway. UEFA had no other need to make such rules since all the leagues run themselves anyway. Most teams in Europe do not play in EUFA competitions. We can't pretend (and neither can they) that EUFA care if a Luton or a Sheffield Utd go out of business. What's more, were the rules genuinely designed to safeguard clubs from dilution there are much simpler rules that could be made. EUFA have a 75% of revenue cap on transfers and wages. La liga subsequently went further and made their cap 70%. Who put forward the proposal and encouraged its acceptance? Oh yes supposed rivals Real and Barca. They were scared of what happened in the PL happening in their league, knocking them out of dominance. If you want to see what these rules can do to a whole league not just a club look at Barca. Their own silly rules came back to bite them. They - hypocritically - were already running over 70% for wages before they even got the rules in. Once Messis contract had finished he counted as a new signing if re-signed so they couldn't register him. He had to leave on a free. What does losing a player like that do to not just the club but the while league? Especially if that league wasn't a duopoly like La liga and One that shares TV revenues. You've seen what happened to Barca since. They've sold rights to revenues that will be made for decades to come. The only unintentional consequences are any that drag down the clubs that wanted to keep everyone else below them.

A point to challenge popular ignorance: people talk about PSR as being a protection for the top 6. City are and always have been against these rules and fighting to remove them in the interests of fairness to the rest of the league. @@esiriokoro7976 it’s not about legitimacy. City managed to do their heaviest investment just before FFP started to take the step in to the top 4. FFP was then hurriedly brought in to stop us in our tracks but failed. Now, if you are Newcastle, villa or anyone else and you want to make that same journey, the odds are massively stacked against you from the get go because as soon as you make progress, you are forced to sell your key players. City pushed back on FFP at the time of introduction for that reason but people were just more happy to point the finger at city rather than understand that one day, it might be their team in that position.

They want to buy players, win and sell shirts and reel rewards from advertising. Just lazy owners who know nothing about the game. At least the city owners dived into the the history of city and wanted to build a sustainable model for the future. Nobody cared when they bought Robinho because it was funny. Look at them splashing money. Once people realised what they were doing off the pitch, stadium, training ground. Just in the past month helped build the biggest arena in Europe. Right next door to the stadium. The work is already in progress to extend the stadium with a 5 star hote built in which will be for the arena events as well. These people are really smart people. Why does the PL not simply require a substantial bond from owners of football clubs to be held in trust so as to ensure that if the owners walk away, the PL will have a fund in place to keep them going until a new owner comes along? That would at least address the so-called underpinnings of FFP/PSR which are supposed to be primarily to prevent clubs failing. The question of how much clubs are allowed to spend can then be addressed as a separate matter in relation to the cartel at the top of the pyramid evidently wishing to exclude other upstarts from joining them -as Chelsea and City have done.

The notion that Man City, Newcastle and now Villa,it seems ,are experiencing anti-competitive restrictions is not false. They are experiencing restrictions on their competitivity as businesses. They should be allowed to invest as much money as they want in their clubs. But that is business competitively. I would like to think that what football fans want for a football league , or a football cup competition is an equal starting point for the football. If one club can spend 1 billion on players and coaching staff and another team can only spend 1 million, that is like starting a 100 metres race, with one athlete already at the 90 metres point. A cap on the amount a club can spend on players wages, transfer fees, coaching staff wages, and agents fees, should be brought in, not just for the Premier League, but for all elite FOOTBALL competitions across Europe (and now Asia)

The rules are not right, anyone that says otherwise usually supports one of the clubs benefiting from the rules (Arsenal, ManUtd, Liverpool, Spurs) A league where teams who try to bridge the gap get forced to sell their best players The idea of… “play the long game” also doesnt work now either because the top teams are too far gone, the ladder has been pulled up, talking about “fairness” but never addressing the inbalance in the league currently No i dont want it to be a spend whatever you like but we should be able to have a hard cap where every team can spend up to the same limit as long as the owners are prepared to put money down for sustainability i mean after all thats what the rules are for arnt they? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Need to educate because considering Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in world football and got to 3 champions league finals in klopps 9 years they only spent an average of 40m a year which isn't that much. @@n9ne_nufc The PL/FFP have let Newcastle go on a spending spree of £575million in recent years while having to sell just £35m. How’s that not been allowed to spend and rise? Do you think you’re rising by a haven’t spent coaching magic wand. You’ve gone from having 1 over £30m signing to having 9 £30million-£63million signings. Your wage bill has gone from £120m and will be over £200million when the account for 2024 is published. Tottenham’s and Arsenal’s wage bill is £235m and £255m so you’re being allowed to rise it to Big 6 levels, making it a Big 7. Your revenue has gone from £140m to a likely over £300million when the account for 2024 are published. And it will be massively because of inflated Saudi sponsorships like Saudia, Sela and Noon. Even your Adidas sponsorship amount is very big for a club that’s not historically a big club. You are being allowed to rise everything to become a Big 7 club though. Newcastle fans need to stop moaning and talking as if Mike Ashley is still owner. You are being allowed to rise now so stop moaning.

Ffp don't work , simple as that is there for cartle and so others carnt join. Throughout football there been teams that had decent few years and even almost teams dominate a decade. There easy few rules too help. 1 no club in debt can do transfers. 2 owners can use own funds put must pay FA or a body as middle man before handing it other owner. So funds protected. 3 any player that Brought must have salary that complies with any generated income by club of up to 70/80. So if generated income is 100million maximum squad wage and staff budget is 70/80million 4 have all clubs pay a years wage/staff into a trust fund in case of emergency. Villa Chinese owner couldn't get money out so needed too sell. Chelsea owner having too sell cuz war etc. 5 clubs can use like now there own fund for transfers put must paid in full. 6 selling youth set players will act like normal on balance sheet so clubs dnt need too sell there youth players for FFp

Aston Villa have just joined up to the UEFA Champions League, a competition that they last won exactly 4 decades ago and before a ball is even kicked when August arrives, they are being forced against their will to give up their squad which secured them 4th place and to literally make them weaker again and not compete in the top 4 let alone top 6. Aston Villa should stand their ground and not kowtow to the Premier League's demands by decreasing their medium to high quality squad, they should build continue building.
